Robert H. Gaudette, Sr., 77, Purple Heart recipient

HUDSON–Robert  H. “Bob” Gaudette, Sr., 77, of Greenport, died Sunday, November 15, 2009 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born May 11, 1932 in Hudson, N.H., he was the son of the late William and Clara (LaBombarde) Gaudette.

Mr. Gaudette worked for the state Department of Transportation in Greenport.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning a Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.

Mr. Gaudette was a member of the Hudson American Legion, a past member of Greenport Fire Dept. #3, a past member of the Stottville VFW, and a member of the Greenport Fire Police.

Mr. Gaudette was the beloved husband of 44 years of Jean (Race) Gaudette of Greenport, and devoted father of  Michael (LeeAnn) Gaudette and Kevin Gaudette (Lloyd Damon) of New Hampshire, Robert H. Gaudette, Jr. (Linda Utter) of Freehold, Greene County, Patricia Thibodeau (Joseph Belanger) of New Hampshire, and Kathleen (James) Sherman of Hudson.  Also surviving are six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Two brothers, Joseph Archambault and Willliam Gaudette, Jr., died previously.

Visiting hours are 4 to 7 p.m. today (Tuesday) at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.

Prayers will be held at 10:15 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Church in Stottville.

Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Donations may be made to the American Lung Association or to the Disabled Veterans.
