CLAVERACK–Jeremiah “Jerry” Ralph Starace, age 90, passed away on Wednesday, May 26, 2010.

Mr. Starace was born on July 27, 1919 in New York City to Raphael and Hilda Starace.

He was the beloved husband of Anne Starace for 69¾ years, loving father of William R. (Linda) Starace, Rick (Mary Lou) Starace, Jerry (Anne) Starace and

Wendy Traver and brother of Elizabeth Romano. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren,  26 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and his long time friend and caregiver, Patty Shea, and her daughter, Heidi. Mr. Starace will be missed by all, including his faithful dog, Dingo.

Mr. Starace served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

He worked in the family wholesale fruit and vegetable market in N.Y.C. for many years. In 1959 Mr. Starace moved to Hillsdale to run the family dairy farm. He later entered the insurance industry and became the owner of the Starace & George Agency. Mr. Starace also owned a used book store as an outgrowth of his family’s love of books.

Mr. Starace was one of a kind and created an interesting life for all who knew him.

Private viewing is for family only.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson, 12534, or to a charity of your choice would be welcome.
