PHILMONT–Leo F. Hayes, 79, of Hudson, died Saturday, April 24, 2010 at Pine Haven Nursing Home.
Born April 29, 1930 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Leo J. and Gertrude (Lape) Hayes.
Mr. Hayes was employed in the maintenance department at Columbia-Greene Community College.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, earning the Korean Service Medal with three stars, the United Nations Service medal and the Army Occupation Medal.
Surviving are two sons, Leo F. Hayes, Jr. of Washington, Ill. and Leo G. Hayes and his fiance, Kimberly Murphy, of Hudson; one brother, Daniel Hayes of Mellenville; one sister, Jeannine Nooney of Ghent; three step-children, George, Debra, and Teresa Pulver; and several grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
His wife, Zena, his twin brother, Leonard, and his brother Frederick died previously.
A calling hour will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Bates & Anderson -Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
Graveside services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Park Cemetery with the U.S. Army Honor Guard officiating.
The family would like to thank the staff at Pine Haven for the excellent care they gave to Mr. Hayes.
