PHILMONT–Dorothy G. VanDeCarr, 89, of Hudson and lifelong resident died Wednesday March 17 at Pine Haven Nursing Home .
Born in Hudson on May 19, 1920 she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Wolf) Gallagher. She was a graduate of Hudson High School and later she was an administrative assistant for Sharkansky & Co. in Brockton, Mass., a parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson and volunteered with the Columbia Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary.
Mrs. VanDeCarr is survived by one son, Lee and (Dolly) VanDeCarr of Hudson; one daughter-in-law, Theresa VanDeCarr of Chelmsford, Mass.; two grandsons, Lee and (Elizabeth) VanDeCarr of Raleigh,N.C., and Jan D. and (Jennifer) VanDeCarr of Ballston Spa; two granddaughters, Michelle and (John) Griffin of Ossining and Sara VanDeCarr of Boston; four great-grandchildren, Patrick, Anna, Benjamin and Bryan. Her husband, Leroy VanDeCarr, as well as one son, Dirk J. VanDeCarr, died previously.
There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, March 19, at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 429 E. Allen Street, Hudson, with Fr. Winston Bath officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery.
