Marie Lanner, 88, communicant of Immaculate Conception church

STEPHENTOWN- Marie Louise Lanner, 88, died on February 15 at her grandson’s residence under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.

Mrs. Lanner was born October 11, 1921 in the Bronx. She had previously resided in Silver Beach Gardens, the Bronx, before moving to Stephentown. She had retired from the New York Telephone Company where she was a manager.

Mrs. Lanner was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a communicant of the Church of the Immaculate Conception in New Lebanon. She was the widow of 1st Lieut. Joseph A. Lanner, killed in action during World War II in the Philippines. Her daughter, Marie L. Killeen, also died previously.

Survivors include her grandsons and their wives, Michael and Lori Killeen with whom she resided and Mark and Kim Killeen of Cropseyville; a sister and her husband, Helen (Robert) Hauser of Surfside Beach, S.C.; great grandchildren Sarah Killeen, Kaitlyn (Nick) Homiak, Daniel Killeen, Joseph Killeen, Nicole Killeen; and her nephew Robert Messerschmitt, along with several other nieces and nephews. She was also the best friend of Millie Pascale of the Bronx.

Burial will take place at a later date in the Long Island (Pinelawn) National Cemetery in Farmingdale.

A special thanks to the personal aides that have taken care of Marie for the last few years and also to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.

Arrangements were under the guidance of the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home of Stephentown.
