Harold Miller, 75, distinguished dairyman dies

ANCRAMDALE–Harold C. Miller, 75, passed away at home on Monday, December 28, 2009.

He was born on October 31, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, the son of the late Clifton and Ethel (Strever) Miller.

Mr. Miller was owner and operator of the Millerhurst Dairy Farm since 1953.Harold  Miller

Mr. Miller is a member and past president of the Eastern New York Holstein Club along with the New York State and National Holstein Association. Board of Directors of the Dutchess County Agriculture Society, Board of Directors of Millerton Co-op, past president of Pine Plains Future Farmers of America Advisory Board, and State vice president of Future Farmers of America. He was awarded the National Empire Farmers degree, and was an avid tractor pulling fan. In the 1980s he had two twin cows that were the highest in production, Classified, Butterfat and Selling twins.

On April 16, 1955 in Hopewell Junction he married Kathy (DeForest) Miller. She survives at home.

In addition to his loving wife, Kathy, survivors include four sons, James P. Miller, Thomas A. Miller, Joseph P. Miller, Michael E. Miller Sr. all of Ancramdale; grandchildren Erin, Melissa, Leah, Hannah, Cassidy, Adam, Benjamin, Sarah, Jesse, Autumn; great grandchildren Lisa and Quentin DiPippo, Hope Emily Miller and a cousin, Elizabeth Smith.

Grandson Michael E. Miller Jr. died December 12, 2009.
