Linda C. DeRuzzio (1943 – 2017)

HUDSON—On May 14, “our angel,” Linda Carol DeRuzzio of Hillsdale entered into eternal rest after battling an extended illness.

She was born May 14, 1943 in Port Chester, the daughter of Joseph J. and Letitia (Pugliese) Fado of Greenwich, Connecticut.

The family later moved to Copake, to a small farmhouse where she experienced country life—raising chickens, milking cows and riding her childhood horse, Twinkle, which she remembered fondly.

Mrs. DeRuzzio worked countless jobs over the course of her life starting as a lab technician at Sharon Hospital. She was also a substitute teacher and secretary at the former Roe Jan School (her alma mater), a ski instructor at Catamount, an aerobic exercise instructor and as a dental assistant for 19 years.

She and her family were communicants of Our Lady of Hope (formerly St. Bridget’s) in Copake Falls. She was a loving and devoted spouse and mother and had a positive impact on her family, friends and everyone she encountered. She will be greatly missed by all.

Mrs. DeRuzzio is survived by: her devoted husband of 54 years, Michael Salvatore DeRuzzio, Sr.; her mother, Letitia; her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael Jr. and Lisa, Daniel and Shelley and Matthew and Natalia; her siblings, John (Buddy), Constance (Bonnie) Millar, Joel, Francis and Robert; her grandchildren, Elyse, Daniel John “DJ”, Michaela, Therese and Rachel; her many nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Mass will be held Friday, May 19, 2017, 11 a.m. from the Parish of Our Lady of Hope, 8074 State Route 22, Copake Falls, with the Reverend George Brennan officiating.

Interment will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery followed by a luncheon back in the church hall.

Those planning to attend the luncheon should RSVP to Matthew at 518 325-1144 by May 18, 2017.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Community Hospice of Columbia – Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414 or Our Lady of Hope Parish, 8074 Route 22, Copake Falls 12517.
