Dr. Anil Kumar Khullar (1955 – 2014)

ALBANY—Dr. Anil Kumar Khullar, 59, passed away suddenly Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Albany Memorial Hospital.

He was born September 10, 1955 in Jalandhar, India, the son of Prem Nath and Janak Khullar.

He attended Sawai Man Singh Medical College in Jaipur, India, graduated in 1980 and completed his cardiology training at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center. After marrying his wife, Pinky Khullar, he settled in Valatie, dedicating his time to Twin County Medical Associates’ Cardiology group for more than 25 years.

Dr. Khullar’s greatest joy was his family and friends. He shared his love for learning, laughter, chai and Jets football. He took great pride in his work at Twin County Medical Associates and Columbia Memorial Hospital. He was an active part of his coworkers’ and patients’ lives.

He leaves behind his wife of 32 years; his daughter, Neha Khullar and her husband, Michael T. DiRusso; and his son, Rishi Khullar. He is also survived by his father and mother; his brother, Sunil K. Khullar; his sister, Meenakshi Katyal and her husband, Kapil Katyal; and a host of long-time friends.

A viewing will be held Tuesday, December 23 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Services, 110 Green Street in Hudson. A celebration of his life and funeral arrangements will be held at the family’s convenience. Memorial donations may be made to Columbia-Greene Hospital Foundation or the American Heart Association in his honor.
