Gifford B. Hess (1957 – 2016)
ALBANY—Gifford “Giff” Bernall Hess, 59, of Stuyvesant passed away July 15, 2016.
He was born in 1957 in the Bronx, the youngest of two sons of the late Gifford, Sr., and Josephine Hess.
He was a graduate of Chatham High School in 1976 and went on to earn an associate’s degree at Columbia-Greene Community College.
He is survived by: his loving wife, Patty; four sons, Jason, David, Kevin and Timothy Ozmon; brother, Charles and his wife Linda; niece, Kristine and husband Eric Zostant and their two daughters, Giuliana and Lena; and his “Best Bud,” Cameron the dog.
Mr. Hess was a big man with an even bigger heart. He had the gift of gab and the ability to talk with anyone that he encountered. He was a counselor at In Flight and all of his clients held a special place in his heart. He loved bowling, animals, music and watching classic movies, especially anything starring John Wayne. Most of all, he loved his family and his life.
A celebration of Mr. Hess’ life will be held July 31 from 12:30 to 4:30 p.m. at the Kinderhook Elks Lodge, 2750 State Route 9H, Kinderhook. Donations may be made in Mr. Hess’ memory for In Flight’s activities at www.inflightinc.org/#!gifford-fund/a4eam.
David D. Moran (1944 – 2016)
ALBANY—David Douglas Moran passed away after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer July 23, 2016 at St. Peter’s Hospice.
Born May 16, 1944 in Troy, he was the son of the late George and Electa McIntyre Moran.
He grew up in Chatham and graduated from Chatham High School. Mr. Moran joined the army and upon his return he became an electrician and plumber. He worked for years at NYSEG and then in his later years was self-employed.
Mr. Moran spent the later part of his life in Averill Park. He was a member of the Kinderhook Sportsmen Club and his hobbies included, fishing, shooting, gem-cutting and photography.
He is survived by: his children, Scott Moran, Bonnie de Vries and Gabriella Moran and his seven grandchildren.
