Thomas Gregory (1927 – 2016)
VALATIE—Thomas L. Gregory, 89, of Valatie died Saturday, August 27, 2016 at his home surrounded by his family.
Born February 15, 1927 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Anthony and Clara (Sartori) Gregory.
Mr. Gregory was a pharmacist’s mate with the U.S. Navy during World War II and for many years was a proud fireman and lieutenant with FDNY.
He enjoyed fishing on the south shore of Long Island and was an avid bird hunter.
He is survived by: his wife, Janet (Woll) Gregory; seven children, Ann Vehlies (Karl) of Kinderhook, Nancy Pappas (James) of Bayport, Thomas R. Gregory (Susan) of Merrick, Frances Lavelle of Centereach, Stephen Gregory (Kim) of Cambridge, Jean Bartkus (Stephen) of Valatie and Mary Pasi (Stephen) of Mullica Hill, NJ; a daughter-in-law, Helene Gregory of Petersburg; 17 grandchildren, James, Karl, Andrew, Alicia, Christine, Carolyn, Colleen, Thomas, Laura, Angela, Stephen, Ryan, Jessica, Kristiana, Claire, Stephanie and Mary Rose; five great-grandchildren, Cori Ann, Eliot, Averi, Vincent and Benjamin; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sons, James and Louis and a brother, Louis.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, August 31, 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Church, Route 9, Valatie, with the Reverend George Fleming officiating. Interment will be at a later date in Long Island National Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 30 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany 12205.
