Corrine A. Woodward (1946 – 2019)
VALATIE—Corrine A. Woodward, 72, of Hudson passed into the Lord’s house in the company of her family Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at The Grand Rehabilitation and Nursing at Barnwell.
Born in Hudson July 16, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Garafalo) Orbon. She was a graduate of Hudson High in 1965 and then St. Catherine’s School of Nursing in 1966. She was later a school aide at Ichabod Crane Primary School for many years. She was a member of the famed Thunderbirds Drum and Bugle Corps.
She married Peter in 1972 and they had three wonderful children: Linda (Tom) Bloss, Steven Woodward and Elizabeth Woodward (fiancée JoAnn Ward). As her children grew, she helped with the youth organizations, Scouts, and was a 4H independent leader, was past-president of Stuyvesant Falls VFW Post# 9593. She participated in several positions at Holy Family Church (St. Joseph) and was a supporter of all the family’s endeavors.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 2, 2019, 11 a.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Fr. George Fleming will officiate. Burial will follow in West Ghent Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions in her memory are requested to a charity of one’s choice.
William J. Wrigley, Jr. (1951 – 2019)
ALBANY—William J. “BJ” Wrigley, Jr., 67, of Stuyvesant Falls died Wednesday, February 20, 2019 surrounded by his family at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born September 4, 1951 in Hudson, he was the son of the late William J. and Joan M. (Ganley) Wrigley.
He was a 1970 graduate of Hudson High School and was a driver for Risedorph Distributing in Kinderhook for many years. He was also a chef throughout the years and worked for the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, Ichabod Crane Central Schools and later Brookwood Secure Center in Claverack.
During his retirement he enjoyed driving for the Health Care Consortium. He was a member of the Hudson BPOE #787, life-member of the Federation of Polish Sportsmen and the Stuyvesant Falls VFW.
He will be greatly missed by: his son, Timothy John Wrigley of Stuyvesant; two brothers, Peter Wrigley (Cherri Hirsch) of Hudson and Paul Wrigley of Chatham; two sisters, Christine (Michael) Kachuba of Claverack and Barbara (James) Grott of Valatie; as well as nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one son, Hudson City Police Officer William “Billy” Beckett Wrigley and one brother, James Ganley Wrigley.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, February 24 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, February 25, 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson with Fr. Winston Bath officiating. Anna Mae Jastrombeck (1924 – 2019)
HUDSON—Anna Mae Jastrombeck, 94, passed away peacefully February 19, 2019 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. She was born July 5, 1924 in Columbiaville to Robert and Ruby (Lyons) Traver.
For many years she worked at Northstar Bank as a loan officer prior to her retirement. Every year she and her late husband traveled to Florida, a trip that she always looked forward to and enjoyed.
Mrs. Jastrombeck was predeceased in 1997 by her husband, Zigmund and her three sisters, Betty Oakes, Dorothea Traver, and Clara Havlik-Silcock.
Survivors include: her companion, Donald Alger, Sr., and many loving nieces and nephews.
A graveside service was held Friday, February 22, 2019 at Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson. In lieu of flowers donations in Mrs. Jastrombeck’s memory may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.
Nathan R. Nicholson (1985 – 2019)
HUDSON—Nathan R. Nicholson, born August 21, 1985 beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, uncle, cousin and friend passed away suddenly Friday, February 22, 2019.
Those who knew him, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives on that day.
He grew up in Claverack, graduating Hudson High School in 2003 and attended Sienna College graduating with a bachelor’s degree in accounting. At a very young age, Mr. Nicholson had a strong love for the outdoors and sports. He loved fishing with his father, brother and uncles. He was also an exceptional football and baseball player throughout his entire high school career. Not only did he enjoy playing sports, but he was a very passionate and dedicated soccer fan. Mr. Nicholson fulfilled his lifelong dream of attending the World Cup in South Africa. He was also an enthusiastic traveler and visited many countries.
Mr. Nicholson cared about everyone in the purest way. He was a compassionate and loyal person who loved life. Most importantly, he had a deep love for his family and cherished the time they spent together. He took extreme pride in being an uncle and godfather to his special nieces, Leah and Sophia.
He is survived by: his parents, Robert and Laurie Nicholson; his loving brother, Lucas (Monica) Nicholson; his beloved grandmother, Marion Patzwahl; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Donald Patzwahl, Michael and Mary Nicholson, and his special uncle, Thomas Nicholson.
Visitation will be held at Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson, Tuesday, February 26, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2019, 10 a.m. from Holy Trinity / St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson. Interment will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Nicholson’s family requests that donations be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.
William Lansing (1925 – 2019)
PHILMONT—William Lansing, 93, passed away February 22, 2019 at Pine Haven Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family.
He was born December 20, 1925 in Hudson. After finishing school, he went on to serve his country honorably in the Army during World War II in the tank division. He was a dock worker and truck driver for many years at Harder’s Express prior to his retirement. In his retirement he enjoyed golf and loved to play the game as many times a week as he could. Although he didn’t ride a motorcycle he enjoyed attending motorcycle rallies with his son, and even made the trip to Sturgis, South Dakota. He loved to dance, especially to music from the 1940s. He was a member of the Teamsters Local 294, and the Stuyvesant Falls VFW Post 9593. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, particularly his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Lansing is survived by: his daughter, Carol (Wally) Zincio; son, Kenneth (Michelle) Lansing; his seven grandchildren, Stephanie (William) Fronczak, William (fiancée Kera Shetsky) Zincio, Curt (Ellen) Zincio, Shawn Lansing, Denise (Thomas) Sepulveda, Jason (Caitlin) Lansing and Chad (companion McKenzie) Lansing; his 16, great-grandchildren, Sarah, Alex, Chase, Abby, Breilla, Issabelle, Wyatt, Tanner, Lincoln, Thomas, Michael, Gunner, Phoenix, Easton, Vivian and Leah; two sisters, Hazel Szafran and Betty Sigler; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 28, 2019, 10 a.m. from the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Interment will follow in Mellenville Union Cemetery.
