Leonard W. Wilson (1934 – 2016)
PHILMONT—Heaven opened its arms November 29, 2016 and welcomed home Leonard W. Wilson, 82, of Ghent.
He passed away peacefully surrounded by the loves of his life: his beloved wife of 61 years, Barbara; his son, Leonard (Sallie) and his daughter, Terry (Gary).
Mr. Wilson is also survived by his four grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two daughters, Roxanne and Diane.
Mr. Wilson served in the armed forces as a Marine, drove tractor trailer and worked construction. He was an avid NASCAR fan, camper and motorcyclist.
But, in his words, “My greatest accomplishments were my family.”
“Bop will be greatly missed.”
Family will receive friends Sunday, December 4, 1 p.m. at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at Ghent Union Cemetery.
Robert G. Race (1955 – 2016)
RHINEBECK—Robert G. Race, 61, of Tivoli passed away Friday, December 2, 2016 at Ferncliff Nursing Home.
Born August 12, 1955, in Rhinebeck, he was the son of the late Charles and Myra Mae (Coons) Race.
Mr. Race married Shari Jones, December 30, 1982 in St. John’s Reformed Church, Red Hook. She survives at home in Tivoli.
For many years, Mr. Race was a laborer with New York State Department of Transportation, based in Red Hook. He also worked as a bus driver and courier for the Red Hook School District.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by: three sons, Kevin Race of Germantown, Timothy Race of Lowville and Robert Race, Jr., of Tivoli; his grandchildren, Ethan and Aubrey; a brother, Charles Race; a sister, Arlene along with many extended family and friends.
There will be no calling hours.
Graveside services will be held Wednesday, December 7, 2016, 2 p.m. at St. John’s Reformed Church Cemetery, Red Hook. The Reverend Eric Titus will officiate.
