David C. Wagar (1960 – 2016)
LAKE KATRINE—David C. Wagar, 56, of Lake Katrine died Sunday, August 28, 2016 at the NE Special Care of Lake Katrine where he was a resident since 2005 as a result of an auto accident.
Born June 26, 1960 in Albany, he was the son of Albert and Barbara (Collen) Wagar.
He was a 1978 graduate of Germantown Central School and received an associates degree in electrical engineering from Columbia-Greene Community College.
Prior to his accident he was employed for many years as a head pressman with Vertis Inc. in Saugerties.
Surviving in addition to his parents are: two sons, Collen Wagar and David Wagar; one daughter, Tiana M. Wagar and three brothers, Stephen C. Wagar, Eric C. Wagar and Mark C. Wagar.
Private graveside funeral services will be held at the Albany Rural Cemetery.

Robert J. Brennan (1942 – 2016)
ALBANY—Robert J. Brennan of Castleton passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.
Born August 19, 1942 in Yonkers, he was the son of the late Michael J. Brennan, Sr., and Ellen Fitzgerald Brennan.
He was a 1960 graduate of Commerce High School in Yonkers and continued his education at SUNY Albany where he achieved a Bachelor of Science Degree (1964), Master of Science Degree (1971) and Certificate of Advanced Study in curriculum (1978).
Mr. Brennan was dedicated to the teaching and learning of children. In 1966 he began his career at the Ichabod Crane High School, Valatie as a business education teacher. During his tenure at Ichabod he served as the department chairperson for business, was president of the Ichabod Crane Teachers Association for multiple years, Varsity Tennis coach and directed students in the musical productions of The Music Man and Oklahoma. In 1980, he was appointed to the position of curriculum specialist at Questar III BOCES and as the capstone to his career served as an associate in career technical education at the State Education Department where he was also the advisor to the Future Business Leaders program.
Mr. Brennan was a past-member of the Northern Columbia Lions and a longtime parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church, Valatie. He loved music, the theater, art, horse racing, reading and doing the New York Times crossword puzzles.
Mr. Brennan loved his family and friends and spent as much time as possible with them. He was predeceased by his siblings, Michael, Jr., Denis, Thomas and Vincent Brennan. He is survived by: his sisters, Sheila DeRuggiero, Ann Cozza and Mary Brennan; his brother, Joseph Brennan and many dear nieces, nephews and friends. Also surviving are: his son, Michael J. Brennan, his wife Jennifer and his two very special granddaughters, Elise and Maya Brennan of Valatie, to whom he brought much joy and happiness.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 1, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 2, 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, 1025 Kinderhook Street, Valatie with internment to immediately follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Margaret H. Klein (1922 – 2016)
ALBANY—Margaret H. Klein, 94, of Kinderhook died Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Albany Medical Center.
Born May 11, 1922 in Caldwell, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Edward Leslie and Helen (King) Byrnes.
She moved to Concord, NH, and then Cape Cod before settling in Kinderhook.
She is survived by: her daughter, Gaale Klein of East Alstead, NH, and a brother, E. Leslie Byrnes of Kinderhook.
Funeral services and burial will be private in New Hampshire at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.
Betty Jean Moore (1929 – 2016)
HUDSON—Betty Jean (Matte) Moore, 87, of Livingston went to her heavenly home surrounded by her loving family Thursday, August 25, 2016 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hudson, July 13 1929, she was the daughter of Gustave Matte and Elizabeth (Brough) Matte.
Mrs. Moore was a homemaker and a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a former employee of the V&O Press in Hudson and Pitcher’s Accessories, where she met her future husband.
An avid music lover, she played the guitar and sang with her two sisters. She was a member of the Linlithgo Reformed Church in Livingston and attended the Northern Dutchess Bible Church in Red Hook. She was also a member of the National World War II Museum. She loved taking care of her family, yard and extensive flower gardens. Mrs. Moore enjoyed participating in her children’s and grandchildren’s activities.
Her husband, Ivan (Ike) Moore, died previously. She is survived by: her children, two sons, Bruce (Patty) Moore of Valatie and David (Marsha) Moore of Greenport and two daughters, Diana (Leslie) Thorley of Red Hook and Barbara (Wayne) Dedrick of Livingston; two sisters, Grace M. Balint of Stuyvesant Falls and Barbara J. DeLamater of Claverack; eight grandchildren, Amanda, Adam, Spencer, Matthew, Julie, Ryan, Justin and Eliana; and was the expectant great-grandmother of Brady; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were held at Bates and Anderson Funeral Home 110 Green Street, Hudson, August 27 with Pastor Clint Eastman officiating. A graveside service was held August 28 at the Livingston Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Northern Dutchess Bible Church in Red Hook.
Maree Barrett Kirwan (1922 – 2016)
CLAVERACK—Maree Barrett Kirwan of Claverack, born April 2, 1922, passed away August 29, 2016.
She was born the daughter of the late Mortimer and Ruth (Kimmenau) Moriarty in Highland Falls.
She was predeceased by her husband of 37 years, John A. Barrett, Sr.; and husband of 11 years, Patrick William Kirwan; her son, Daniel P. Barrett and grandson, Michael Barrett Jornov.
She is survived by: her children, Maree (William) Spampinato of Copake, John (Becky) Barrett, Jr., of Warren, CT, Ruthanne Schaufler of Chapel Hill, NC, Betsy Cullen of Hudson, Kathleen (Myron) Jornov of Fogelsville, PA, Thomas (Marilyn) Barrett, Glen Allen, VA; daughter-in-law, Cathy Barrett of Claverack; 23 grandchildren and 39 great grandchildren.
Mrs. Kirwan graduated from Ladycliff College and was a communicant of St Mary’s Church in Hudson.
Calling hours will be held at Bates and Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson, Friday, September 2, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Trinity Church (St. Mary’s), Hudson, Saturday, September 3, 2016 at 10 a.m. with interment to follow in Mountainville.

James H. Lewis (1955 – 2016)
MONROE, NC—James Henry Lewis, 60, originally from Germantown and then Monroe, NC, passed away August 18, 2016 as the result of a massive stroke.
He was the son of the late Albert H. Lewis of Germantown and Jean P. Lewis of Siler City, NC. He is also survived by: a brother, Robert (Kathy) Lewis of Monroe, NC and a sister, Alberta (Scott) DeCicco of Siler City, NC.
He married the love of his life, Shelley R. Wood November 1, 1975. Together they created a wonderful family: two daughters, Allison (Scott) Broadway of Lake Mary, FL, and Jaimee (Brandon) Shaffer of Monroe, NC, and a son, Branden (Caitlin) Lewis of Monroe, NC. Also surviving are seven grandsons, Scotty, Lucas and Landon Broadway, Andrew and Will Shaffer and Jeremy and James Lewis.
He holds in his arms the soul of his granddaughter, Jennifer Anne Broadway to be born in early December. He had many nieces and nephews as well.
Mr. Lewis loved his family, first and foremost; his work as a mechanic; antique cars and car shows and he loved cats.
He was also an avid NASCAR fan. “You couldn’t ask for a better, more sincere person to know.” There are no funeral services planned, a memorial service was held at his home. Arrangements were with the Gordon Funeral Service and Crematory, Inc., Monroe, NC.
Betty F. Stone (1926 – 2016)
ALBANY—Betty F. (Wishon) Stone, 90, who was born and lived her entire life in the same home in Ghent, died August 24, 2016 at Albany Medical Center with her dear friends at her side.
She was born July 29, 1926, the daughter of the late George H. and Gladys (Payne) Wishon.
She graduated from Chatham High School Class of 1944 and worked as a toll collector for the New York State Thruway for 15 years. She retired in 1984.
Mrs. Stone was well-known for her exceptional knitting skills having knitted many comfort items for the Seamen’s Church Institute and Castle Point VA Hospital, as well as for her church. She was a life-member of the former Christ Lutheran Church of Ghent and member of the Christ Our Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Chatham, where she served 12 years as financial secretary. Mrs. Stone was also a 50-year member of the O.E.S. Charity Chapter #47 Chatham, Mt. Merino and the Henry Hudson Chapter. She was a 50-plus-year member and the oldest member of the Amaranth #100 having served as matron in 1952, 1960 and 1968. She also was district deputy grand royal matron from 1962 to 1963. She is survived by: nieces and nephews and by the “Kids,” Nicholas and Kristin Wenk-Fallon.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis; son, Frank and daughter-in-law, Sylvia. A funeral service was held August 29 from the Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, Chatham. Interment was in the Ghent Union Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Chatham Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 352 Chatham 12037.
