William T. Stoddard (1933 – 2016)
HUDSON—William Trevor Stoddard, 83, of Livingston and recently of Ghent died Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born in Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Robert and Agatha Stoddard.
Mr. Stoddard was a graduate of Withrow High School in Cincinnati, OH. He was a sound and electronics engineer mainly in the music industry and was employed with Cincinnati Millicron, Bell Sound Studios and E.G. Herzog.
He is survived by: daughters, Gayle Stoddard and Cindy Stoddard.
He was predeceased by one sister, Diane.
There are no calling hours or funeral services planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport.
Barbara Becker (1939 – 2016)
ALBANY—Barbara “Bubba” A. Becker, 77, of Valatie passed away October 27, 2016 at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born and raised in Albany, she was the daughter of the late William and Helen LaRose.
Mrs. Becker lived in Nassau most of her life until moving to Valatie 15 years ago. She was a past member of the East Schodack Fire Company, where in 1970 she, along with nine other women, became the first females to join as active volunteer firefighters in Rensselaer County. She was a life member of the Nassau Hose Company #1 with more than 30 years of active service. She was the Nassau company’s past membership secretary and past treasurer of the hose company’s Ladies Auxiliary. She was also a past member of the Nassau Rescue Squad
Mrs. Becker was predeceased by her husbands, Thomas W. Valle, Sr. and Richard W. Becker and her son, Timothy W. Valle.
She is survived by: her son, Thomas Valle, Jr., of Ewa Beach HI; daughter, Kim Harrington of Rensselaer; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Cushing of Valatie; brothers, William A. LaRose of Vischer Ferry and Richard LaRose of Colonie; sisters, Judy Passino of Nassau and Susan Archambeault of Nassau. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services from the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm Street, Nassau took place October 31. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nassau. Howard H. Hotaling, Jr. (1939 – 2016)
GALLATIN—Howard Henry Hotaling, Jr., 77, of Elsohn Road passed away peacefully Saturday, October 29, 2016 at his residence.
A lifelong area resident, he was born January 12, 1939 in Copake to the late Howard H. and Idela (Turpening) Hotaling, Sr.
Mr. Hotaling was a longtime employee of Kimberly Clark at the Ancram Mill.
He proudly served his country with the United States Army and was a life member of the Cadby–Shutts VFW Post #7552 in Hillsdale.
Mr. Hotaling was a member of the International Paperworkers Union and the National Rifle Association. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish.
On January 20, 1984 in Ancram, he married Dorothea (Gransbury) Hotaling, who survives him at home.
Surviving besides his wife are his children, Marsha Mills of Long Island, Michael Hotaling of Hillsdale, Tammy Hotaling -Hasbrouck of Greenport and Tina Garcia of San Antonio, TX; his grandchildren, Matthew and Gregory Mills, Lindsie and Melissa Hotaling, Michael Durant, Sr., Matthew, William III and Tayla Sill, Mandy Hasbrouck and Martin Kellerhouse; great-grandchildren, Breanna and Sophia Durant; his siblings, Joseph Hotaling of Hudson and Della Hotaling of Chico, CA.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Brenda Hotaling; a granddaughter, Melody Hasbrouck and siblings, Leroy, Walter and Norma.
Friends are invited and may call Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, Copake.
Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Kenneth Phesay officiating. Interment with military honors will be in the Copake Cemetery.
