Cheryl D. Smith (1948 – 2022)
HUDSON—Her children are sad to announce the passing of their dear mother, Cheryl Darlene Smith of Hudson. She lived most her life in Schenectady and worked as a baker at Price Chopper of Colonie.
She died at age 73, June 4, 2022. She always put a smile on everyone’s face, and was a fun and loving person, she spread joy and happiness wherever she went. She passed away surrounded by her loved ones after a battle with cancer. She had eight children, five boys and three girls, she was predeceased one daughter, Mary Jane Smith.
She is survived by: eldest, Nigel Reyes, Ramon Reyes, Deneeka Smith, Laneeka Smith, Joseph Smith, Jr., Elijah Smith, Lakiesha Smith. She will be forever missed and in our hearts.

John W. Weigl (1954 – 2022)
CLAVERACK—John W. Weigl, 68, of Claverack died peacefully June 7, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Pittsburgh, PA, he was the son of the late John Leo Weigl and the late Mary Lou (Bell) Weigl and the oldest of their five children. He was a graduate of Robert Morris University and held the position of medical assistant specialist for New York State in Albany. For many years, he owned and operated a construction business with his family, Tailored Foam of NY.
Mr. Weigl was devoted to his family. After the death of his father, he helped his mother by working while attending college and coaching his younger siblings’ sports teams. He provided support and guidance to his siblings throughout their lives. He was married to his wife, Lori Weigl, for 38 years and was immensely proud of their beloved son, Josh Weigl, a sergeant in the United States Army.
He had a love of sports, the outdoors and biking. He was nearing retirement and looking forward to spending more time with his wife biking their favorite trails: a plan cut short far too soon. In addition to his wife and son, also surviving are: his brothers, Robert, James and Joseph Weigl; sister, Lynn Kist; nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed by Lori, Josh and all of his family.

Frances E.M. Berlt (1930 – 2022)
EAST CHATHAM—Frances Elaine Mackerer Berlt of East Chatham died June 7, 2022 at her home.
Born October 26, 1930, she was the daughter of the late John Frederick Mackerer and Elnah Louise Krieg Mackerer.
Although born in Peekskill, she spent her childhood in Yorktown Heights. She moved with her family to East Chatham in June 1945 and graduated from Chatham Central High School in 1948.
She received a medical secretarial certificate at Interboro Institute in New York City. She briefly worked in the registrar’s office of Albany Medical College before marrying William Harry Berlt, August 7, 1949, with whom she shared 43 years.
She lived on Kelly Road in East Chatham before moving to Bradley’s Crossing Road in April 1957.
Over the years Mrs. Berlt held various jobs in small businesses in Chatham. She was a 4H leader and member of the East Chatham Methodist Church, where she volunteered for years as treasurer. She loved gardening and could often be found tending her flowers, vegetables and shrubs.
She passed after a valiant 20-year battle with colon cancer. She was predeceased by her parents; husband, William and her brother, Richard Frederick Mackerer.
She is survived by: her daughters, Deborah A. Berlt-Schraven (Val Kosmider) of Johnson City, TN, and Diane B. Berlt-Williams (Kerry Williams) of East Chatham; one grandson, Mark R. Edwards (Ronnye) of Rosamond, CA; three great-grandsons, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
A funeral service will be held Friday, June 17 at the East Chatham Methodist Church at noon. A calling hour will take place from 11 a.m. to noon at the church prior to the funeral. Interment will be at the Canaan Cemetery on County Route 5, Canaan.

Holly Eberhardt (1955 – 2022)
VALATIE—Holly Eberhardt, 66, of Valatie passed into her Lord’s arms Wednesday, June 8, 2022 after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her family.
Born June 27, 1955 in Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Anna (Sion) DelRosario. After graduating Saugerties High School in 1973, she earned her nursing degree. On October 16, 1976 married Henry (Hank) Eberhardt. Together they raised three daughters. People were the most important thing to her. Her passion was to feed people and cloth the homeless.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Eberhardt was involved in organizations that helped children and adults.
She is survived by: her husband, Hank; daughters, Karen Pacelli (Eben), Katherine Eberhardt (fiancé Andrew Stercho), Karolyn Eberhardt; grandchildren, Caleb and Jack Pacelli; sisters, Paula TenEyck, Ester Williams, Dana Cole, Cindy Lima and her brother, Ken Dell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 18, 2022, 4 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. prior to the service. Michele A. Wintermute (1958 – 2022)
LIVINGSTON—Michele A. Wintermute, 64, of Livingston, formerly of Johnstown, died peacefully Friday, June 10, 2022 at Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born in Bethpage, May 7, 1958, she was the daughter of the late William and Jeanette (Malley) Oberman.
She was an offset printer for Baronet-Lithol, Inc., in Johnstown. She is survived by: her sisters, Carol Pettit and Yvonne Sanders and her brother, William Oberman. She was predeceased by her husband, Calvin Wintermute and a sister, Deborah Boggie.

Sylvia C. Hoose (1925 – 2022)
NORTHAMPTON, MA—Sylvia C. Hoose passed away quietly June 11, 2022 at the Care-One Nursing Facility in Northampton, after a period of declining health.
She was born in Newton Hook, January 23, 1925, and was 97 years old at the time of her death. She spent her entire life in Columbia County, until moving to Northampton, MA, three years ago to be closer to her son. She married Harold Hoose February 20, 1944, and enjoyed 45 years of marriage before his untimely passing in 1989. Prior to her retirement in 1988, she worked for 26 years at Barnwell Nursing Home, the final 10 years or so as supervisor of housekeeping. She and her husband raised two children in Stuyvesant and later Niverville. Her daughter, Diane Sliter of Niverville, is retired from the New York State Thruway Authority, and her son, David Hoose, a lawyer, resides in Northampton, MA, with his wife Jeanne, who Mrs. Hoose loved as one of her own children. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Michelle Morschauser (husband Scott) of Schoharie, Jenna Sliter of Austin, TX, Jordan Sliter of East Greenbush, Jackson Hoose of Oakland, CA, and Noah Hoose of Portland, OR; two great-grandchildren, Emilee and Grace Morschauser, both of Schoharie; and her dear friend, Judith Ziagos of Northampton, MA. Ms. Ziagos was a good friend to Mrs. Hoose during the three years she lived in Northampton. Her family will never forget the kindness she showed to their mother.
In addition to her her husband, Harold, Mrs. Hoose was predeceased by an older sister, Frances, and a younger brother, Pasquale.
She was kind to everyone she knew. Her kindness was returned many times over by Heather O’Connor and the wonderful staff of the Federal unit at Care-One Nursing Facility in Northampton. Her family is particularly grateful to James Inyiama and Tracy Lisewski, LPNs on the unit, and to the activities department, Joe, Marie and Deb. “Their kindness and care know no bounds.” The family is also grateful for the friendship, kindness, wisdom and compassion provided by Marci Yoss, MD, who helped them navigate the journey through dementia in these past couple of years.
Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home in Valatie. A viewing at the home will take place Friday, June 17 at 10 a.m. followed by a short service at 11:30 a.m. Internment will be in St. Mary’s cemetery in Stuyvesant Falls.
Sheila A. Ramsey (1938 – 2022)
HUDSON—Sheila Ann Ramsey, age 83, of Hudson passed away surrounded by her loved ones, June 9, 2022 after a long battle with dementia and Alzheimer’s.
She was born September 10, 1938, to Eliza Jane Webb and Willie Williams in Hudson. She graduated with high honors from Hudson High School in 1956. She gave birth to her first-born son, Vance Gordon Smith with Willis Dupris Smith, also known as, Bruce (predeceased). After her mother’s passing in 1965, she helped raise her younger brother, Ricardo Wise. She then married Edward Brown in 1961 and with their union, they had two children, Kenneth Edward Brown and Regina Lizanne Hall. She would eventually marry the love of her life Richard Ramsey in 1975 and they joined their blended family. He passed in 1997.
Ms. Ramsey was a believer in educating and nurturing youth. She dedicated 40+ years to being a daycare schoolteacher, financier, parent counselor at Hudson City Daycare, in which she took great pride. She was also a faithful member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Hudson from a young age. She loved being a resident of Hudson. She actively served in the community as an alderwomen for Hudson’s Fourth Ward making many changes for the betterment of the city for nine years.
Throughout her life she loved dancing, music, parades, jazz festivals, and drum corps competitions. She also enjoyed Turner Classic Movies, crossword puzzles, reading, walking outdoors, Tai chi, baking and attending family functions. She could always be found at one of her grandchildren’s extracurricular activities for as long as she was able to attend, heartily cheering them on. She loved her family and took great pride in family traditions, especially around the holidays. Family, friends or acquaintances always had a seat at her table. She looked forward to reading “The Night Before Christmas” on Christmas Eve to her children and grandchildren even into their adulthood as this was a tradition passed down from her mother.
She was predeceased by: her parents; husbands; siblings, Laura Barksdale and James Edmonds; children, Regina Hall and Kenneth Brown; stepson, Mike Ramsey, and many close aunts, uncles, and cousins. She leaves to mourn: her son, Vance (Theresa Robinson) Smith; her brother, Ricardo Wise; her stepchildren, Steve (Mimi), Mark (Elba), Phillip Ramsey, Dan (Carmen) Tollin and Steven Smith; her son-in-law, Keith Hall; her grandchildren, Amber (Michael) Poindexter, Ashlee (Keith) Romero, Spencer and Quintan Hall, Leonardo Wise; many great-great grandchildren; special lifelong best friend, Bessie Royal; former co-workers, Jean Cobb and Margaret (Peggy) Waterhouse and others. She leaves a legacy of love and a lifetime of memories. She will be greatly missed.

Kritrina H. Coons (1978 – 2022)
HUDSON—Kritrina Helen Coons, 44, of Hudson unexpectedly passed away June 5, 2022 in her home.
She was a lifelong resident of Hudson. She was a loving mother, stepmother, sister, aunt and great aunt. She will be greatly missed by: her mother, Delores Coons; siblings, Lori Drabick (Peter), Stacy Coons (Joshua Kipp) and Eric Coons (Heather); her children, Mathew Coons and Samantha Kirk; her stepchildren, William Kirk, III, Courtney Simmons, Robert Barrett, Brandan Barrett, Marcades Barrett, Alexis Barrett and Lindsy Barrett; her many nieces and nephews and her great nieces and great nephews.

Roger E. Bradley (1932 – 2022)
PHILMONT—Roger Evans Bradley, 90, passed away peacefully, Saturday, June 11, 2022 in Philmont. A resident of Valatie, Mr. Bradley was born in Sharon, CT, April 23, 1932. He was the son of the late William J. and Marjorie F. Bradley.
He resided with his parents in the Town of Salisbury, CT, and moved with them to Millerton in 1939. A graduate of Millerton High School, he entered the United States Army during the Korean War, proudly serving from 1952 to 1954, including 16 months in Korea with the 8th Army, Headquarters Company, KCAC, 8201 Army Unit. He was awarded the following medals and awards; United States Defense Medal, Korean War Service Medal with one Battle Star, United Nations Service Medal, Republic of Korea (ROK) War Service Medal and the ROK Presidential Unit Citation. He also received the State of New York Conspicuous Service Medal and the State of New York Medal for Merit in addition to the ROK Ambassador for Peace Medal.
On June 28, 1958 in Norfolk, CT, he married Mary Gloria Vernali. Mrs. Bradley passed away June 28, 2021. Upon his return to civilian life, he pursued a career in sales, retiring from Arnoff Moving & Storage in 1996. He is the father of two sons, James J. (Jay) Bradley of Lakeville, CT, and Keith F. Bradley and his wife Lisa of Arizona and grandfather of two grandsons, Stephen J. Bradley and Evan J. Bradley.
He was a longtime civically active member of the Millerton community. He was a past commander of Millerton Legion Post 178, past vice-commander of the Columbia County Chapter 283 of the American Legion, Korean War Veterans Association, past president and secretary of the Millerton Lions Club, past president of the North East Republican Club and was an honorary member and past secretary of the Millerton Fire Company. He also served on the Millerton Village Board of Trustees. As president of the Millerton Lions Club he was instrumental in construction of the Little League field and as commander of the Millerton Legion Post 178 he oversaw the construction of the home of Post 178.
Moving to Valatie in 1992, he continued his civic service as an active member of the Kinderhook Lodge of Elks and was awarded that Lodge’s highest honor, Elk of the Year for 1996-1997. He also received the Elks Grand Exalted Ruler’s Outstanding Service Commendation for 2001-2002. He was also a member of the Empire State Society, Sons of the American Revolution, Columbia-Mid Hudson Valley Chapter. He was also a member and vice-commander of the American Legion Post 184 in Hudson and a member of the Ghent VFW.
In addition to his sons and grandsons, Mr. Bradley is survived by: four sisters, Janet Silvernale, Marsha Phillips, Sandra Thurston and Diane Walters; his dear cousin, Elizabeth Simmons and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Travis Bradley and two sisters, Joan Riley and Elizabeth Layton.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, June 16, 2022 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home, 37 Park Avenue, Millerton. The Millerton Legion will conduct a service at 7 p.m. A funeral service will take place Friday, June 17, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
