Dianne H. Slater (1935 – 2016)
POUGHKEEPSIE—Dianne H. Slater, 80, of Poole Hill Road, Ancram passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
A homemaker, she was born May 10, 1935 in Hudson, a daughter of the late Ernest and Mable (Finkle) Morey.
Survivors include: 12 children, Glen Bevins, Cindy Stickle, Melanie O’Malley, Ernie Slater, Art Slater, Mark Slater, Nick Slater, Bunny Proudy, Alfred Slater, Johnny Slater, Gary Slater and Debbie Gregory. She also leaves 40 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Hyland “Harley” A. Slater and daughters, Cheryl Austin and Wendy Bevins.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.
Memorial contributions may be offered to the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Marvin B. Pechtel (1939 -2016)
ALBANY—Marvin Bruce Pechtel passed away March 5, 2016 at the VA Medical Center after a brave and extended battle with cancer.
Born December 5, 1939 in Albany, he lived his entire life in the Valatie, Kinderhook area. He was the son of the late Marvin and Blanche Pechtel of Valatie. His loving wife, Joyce predeceased him after 48 years of marriage.
Mr. Pechtel is survived by: one son, Marvin Bruce, Jr., (Roxanne) of Wheat Ridge, Colorado; two brothers, James (Barbara) of Rio Rancho, NM, and Robert (Judith) of Kinderhook; one sister, Karen Hotchkiss of North Greenbush. He was predeceased by: a brother, John Pechtel of Kinderhook; two sister-in-laws, Gladys “Dolly” (Ken) Hallock of Kinderhook and Shirley (Douglas) Cornoni of Chatham.
Mr. Pechtel “wished to say a special Thank You to Dr. Philips, the nurses and aides in the hospice unit at the VA Hospital and the many volunteers who stopped in and gave their support to help him in his time of need. I cannot say enough about how wonderful these people are. They deserve so much credit for the services they provide to our aging heroes.”
Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.
At Mr. Pechtel’s request, there will be no calling hours and interment will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of

Carole G. Snyder (1941 – 2016)
GHENT—“It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved wife, sister, mother and grandmother.” Carole G. Snyder of Ghent passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family Thursday, March 10, 2016 at the age of 75.
She was born February 10, 1941 to the marital union of LeRoy and Marion (Moore) Gardner.
She attended Chatham Central School District and furthered her education by earning her certification as a registered nurse. After raising four daughters, she reentered the workforce in a variety of positions where she cared for many patients. In 1984, she began work with the Chatham Central School District in the capacity of middle school nurse. She retired after nearly two decades and continued her involvement in the community and church.
Mrs. Snyder was a woman of simple pleasures, always enjoying the time she spent with family and friends. Specifically, lunch with the ‘59er’s, playing games with her grandkids and sitting by the ocean in Maine. Always looking to give back to the community, she dedicated numerous hours at the Ghent Food Pantry, was a member of the Ghent-Chatham Senior Citizens Club and was a proud parishioner of the Reformed Church.
Mrs. Snyder is survived by her husband of 50 years, George A. Snyder, Jr.; her four daughters, Melissa Rose (James), Stacy Graziano (Ralph), Rebecca Snyder (Mark) and Amy McLean (Daryn); her six grandsons and three granddaughters; her brother, Donald L. Gardner (Marion); sister-in-law, Sallie Friedman (Robert); her nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held at Bates & Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green Street in Hudson, Monday, March 14, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the West Ghent Reformed Church, 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 15, 2016. Interment will follow at the West Ghent Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ghent Food Pantry or Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene.
