Jean A. Skipper (1940 – 2019)
NEW ROCHELLE—Jean Alice Blackie Skipper, 79, of New Rochelle passed away Tuesday, October 22, 2019 at her home.
Born January 29, 1940 in Bronxville, she was the daughter the late William Reid Blackie, Jr., and Alfreta (Burton) Blackie. She graduated from Eastchester High School in 1958 and St. Joseph’s School of Nursing in Yonkers in 1960. She was a member of the Kinderhook Reformed Church, the Order of the Eastern Star, Laurel Chapter in New York City and the Senior Center of New Rochelle.
Mrs. Skipper is survived by: her son, Robert John Skipper, wife Amy and grandchildren Sean Augustus and Cindy Lou Mei-Ying Skipper of Mansfield, TX; her daughter, Susan Burke, husband Daniel and grandchildren Lachlan James and Damien Henry Burke of New York City; her brother, John Allison Blackie and wife Margaret of Lillian, AL; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lee Skipper in 1993; her son, William Allen Skipper; sisters, Emma Schmeling and Dorothy Barrett and a brother, William Reid Blackie, III.
Funeral services were held Saturday, October 26, 2019at the Kinderhook Reformed Church, Route 9, Kinderhook, with the Reverend Edward VanKampen officiating. Burial followed in Hillsdale Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.
Sandra A. Coonrad (1939 – 2019)
ALBANY—Sandra A. (Silvernail) Coonrad, 80, passed away October 28, 2019 at St Peter’s Hospital.
She was born in Oneonta, April 30, 1939 to the late Dana H. Silvernail and her mother, Ingra M. Silvernail, who survives.
Also surviving Mrs. Coonrad, is: her husband, John W. Coonrad; her children, Lisa C. Kay, Dana F. Coonrad and her late daughter, Cindy A. Bowlby; grandsons, Christopher, Anderson, Alec; granddaughter, Hannah and her lifelong friend, Patrica Roach.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, October 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, Chatham. A funeral service will take place Friday, November 1, 11 a.m. with interment to follow in Ghent Union Cemetery.

Arthur J. Haddad (1923 – 2019)
RHINEBECK—Arthur James Haddad, a longtime resident of Red Hook, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2019 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck. He was 95 years old.
Born November 24, 1923 in Willimantic, CT, he was the fourth of eight children of Louis and Rose Haddad. He grew up during the Depression the effects of which could be gleaned from conversation.
He was a celebrated high school athlete in CT, and remained physically fit and able his whole life. College basketball remained a lifelong passion. He proudly served in the U.S. Army during World War II and saw combat in North Africa, Sicily, Normandy (Omaha Beach) and the Hurtgen Forest (Battle of the Bulge). By his own admission, he had seen and had enough. After his discharge, he never touched a firearm or weapon again in his life.
Following the war, Mr. Haddad graduated from Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA, on the GI bill. He married Agnes Haddad in 1948; she predeceased him October 27, 2007. He worked at IBM from 1952 to 1978 and was a member of their Quarter Century Club. In 1973, Mr. Haddad and his wife, Agnes, founded and operated Red Hook Electrical Supply, Co., Inc. in Red Hook.
He was a life-member of the Mount Tabor Lodge AF&AM based in Boston, MA.
His loves were his family, vegetable gardens and pets in no particular order. He is survived by: his two sons, Nicholas (Carrie) Haddad of Hudson and Randolph (Colleen) Haddad of Red Hook; his loving grandchildren, Jackson, Henry, Adrian, Hannah and Abigail; his sisters; Florence Modi and Mildred Wilcox, along with countless extended family, colleagues and friends.
In addition to his wife; his son, Christian George Haddad, and several siblings predeceased him along with a Noah’s Ark full of beloved dogs and cats.
A memorial service will be held November 16, 2019, 1 p.m. at 127 Union Street, Hudson.

Ronald J. Plambeck (1949 – 2019)
RHINEBECK—“A well-loved man, who loved well.” Ronald John Plambeck of Rhinebeck passed away October 28, 2019, after a long, well-fought, battle with cancer.
He was born in the Bronx, March 19, 1949 to Lily (King) Plambeck and John Plambeck, both of whom predecease him. He spent his childhood in LaGrange.
A graduate of Arlington High School Class of 1967, he attended Dutchess Community College where he met his future wife of 50 years. Continuing his education, he attended Western New England College where he received a Bachelor’s of Science degree in psychology, and then went on to SUNY New Paltz, where he received a master’s degree in clinical psychology.
Moving to Rhinebeck in 1974, he raised his family, giving them unconditional love and support, until the day he died. With an entrepreneurial spirit, he was self-employed by the age of 35, making him ever more present for the things he enjoyed and those he loved.
He is survived by: his wife, Pamela Thornton Plambeck; his three children, Nathan R. (Heidi) Plambeck of Rhinebeck, April (Gregory) Mountain of Chatham and Erica (Atiba) Celestine of Red Hook; and his eight adoring grandchildren, Pamela Mountain, Georgia Plambeck, Donald Mountain, Olive Mountain, Ewan Celestine, Meta Mae Mountain, Eve Celestine and Nico Celestine; his loving sisters, Marilyn Hamilton and Lynn Freed; brothers, John Plambeck and Rick Plambeck; along with many nieces and nephews.
His brother, Robert Plambeck predeceased him.
“Ron” was an avid hunter, hiker, kayaker and woodworker. He was a lover of flight, bird watching, enjoyed beach vacations and human connection. He was a giver of support to everyone he met.
A memorial service will be held Friday, November 1, 2019, 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s (Wurtemburg) Lutheran Church in Rhinebeck. Burial will be private.

Raymond I. Miller (1948 – 2019)
HUDSON—Raymond I. Miller, Sr., 71, of Athens passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born March 28, 1948 in Rhinebeck, he was the son of the late Henry and Margaret (Coon) Miller.
He married Barbara Bathrick, October 15, 1966 at the Germantown Methodist Church in Germantown. She survives at home.
For many years, “Ray” worked as a maintenance supervisor at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck. He also worked for a number of years on many dairy farms throughout the Hudson Valley.
In addition to his loving wife of 53 years, he is survived by: his children, Raymond I. Miller, Jr., of Cairo, Roberta (John) Lattin of Concord, NC, and Randy (Carolyn) Miller of Cairo; his grandchildren, Becky Miller, Kimberly Rummo-Faulkner, Stephanie Miller, Steven Lattin, Sarah Lattin, Julian Miller and Sebastian Miller; five great-grandchildren; six siblings, Donald (Carol) Miller of Hudson, Rowland Miller of Hudson, Randy Miller of Hudson, Elizabeth of Hopewell Junction, Dolores and Viola; along with extended family and friends.
A grandson, David Miller; a brother, Henry Miller, and a sister, Brenda Bermel, predeceased him.
Services will be private, and interment will be in Red Church Cemetery in Tivoli.

Roy Nelmes (1959 – 2019)
ALBANY—Roy “Skip” Nelmes, 59, of Valatie died Tuesday, October 23, 2019 at Albany Medical Center.
Born November 7, 1959 in the Bronx, he was the son of the late Ann VanWagner. “Skip” was a self-employed contractor and was a volunteer firefighter for more than 20 years with the Rhinebeck, Rhinecliff and Hillside fire departments. He was a bass drummer for Dutchess County Fife and Drum and a Civil War enthusiast.
He is survived by: his wife, Dorothy E. (Huvar) Nelmes; step-father, Richard VanWagner; daughters, Shannon VanWagner, Brittany and Makayla Hevessy; son, Stephen and (Monica) Hevessy; brother, Wayne and (Christina) Nelmes; sisters, Lori (Jerry) Nelmes, Chrissy (Richard) Denu, Kathleen (Robert) Skabowski; grandchildren, Kaylee VanWagner, Joseph Hevessy and Michael Hevessy; nieces and nephews; also his “cat son,” Felix.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, October 31, 2019, 6 to 7 p.m. at the Sacco Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive Greenport.
