Ruth Ann Shields (1938 – 2014)
WATERVLIET—Ruth Ann Shields, 76, of Watervliet died Tuesday, November 4, 2014 at her home.
Born January 5, 1938 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Martha (O’Neil) Shields.
Ms. Shields was a homemaker and a secretary for New York State for many years.
She is survived by: two brothers, Walter Shields of Statesville, NC, and Raymond Shields of Stuyvesant Falls; two nieces and one nephew.
Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours.

Donald W. Crouse (1931 – 2014)
HUDSON—Donald W. Crouse, 83, of Stockport died Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital under the care of Community Hospice.
Born March 24, 1931 in Hudson, he was the son of the late William and Ruth (Tracey) Crouse.
Mr. Crouse was the owner/operator of C & S Heating in Stuyvesant for many years. He was an avid horseman, owner and driver of Standard Bred horses at various regional racetracks and a member and former president of the Empire Driving Club.
He is survived by: his wife, Helen (Barilics) Crouse; two daughters, Deborah Sweeney (Pat) of Berlin and Susie Valentini (Dal) of Chatham; three grandchildren, Ryan Sweeney, Justin and Jason Valentini.
Funeral services will be held at the Raymond E Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, Saturday, November 15, 11 a.m. with the Reverend George Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Stuyvesant Falls. Calling hours will be Friday, November 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Thomas M. Juliano (1959 – 2014)
HUDSON—Thomas M. Juliano, 55, of Hudson passed away Tuesday, November 11, 2014 at his residence.
Born March 5, 1959 in Albany, he was the son of Joan (Ray) Juliano of Albany and the late Vincent Juliano.
He was employed at Shop-Rite for more than 40 years, starting as a bagger while attending LaSalle Institute, and he worked his way up to store manager. He worked at several locations before coming to the Shop-Rite Store in Hudson.
Mr. Juliano liked to live life to the fullest. He enjoyed riding his bike to the Catskill Creek to swim and unwind, and going to the beach and ocean. He was a licensed real estate agent and loved purchasing and selling properties.
In addition to his mother, surviving are: his wife, Christine (Gueldner) Juliano of Hudson; two children, Teigan Juliano of Niskayuna and Jaimy (Jess) Juliano of Grayslake, IL; his sister, Janice Juliano of Albany; three brothers, Vincent Juliano of Delanson, Mark Juliano of East Greenbush and Michael Juliano of Albany; his granddaughter, Evie Juliano of Grayslake, IL; three step-sons, Benjamin Kopec of Red Hook, A.J. Kopec of Craryville and Shawn Pollack of Lansingburgh, and seven step-grandchildren.
Calling hours are Friday, November 14, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home 110 Green Street, Hudson.
Services will follow at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Richard J. Nack (1957 – 2014)
HUDSON—Richard “Rick” J. Nack, 57, of Hillsdale passed away peacefully November 6, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born March 21, 1957 in Hudson, he was the son of Catherine (Barto) Nack-Ruby of Inverness, FL, and Richard T. Nack, who predeceased him in 1986.
Mr. Nack’s career was in golf course maintenance and turf management. He served in every capacity imaginable from golf course superintendent to sales representative.
He was passionate about music and played bass guitar for many bands that traveled across the U.S.
Most of all, Mr. Nack loved being with his son, Mason, participating in Boy Scouts of America functions, fishing and enjoying a New York Yankee game together.
He “was a great man who will be missed always by all of his loving family and wonderful friends.”
In addition to his mother, Catherine and son, Mason, Mr. Nack is survived by: his wife, Cindy (Bull) Nack; sister, Becky (Ken) Schopp of Sheffield, MA; father and mother-in-law, William and Marie Bull of Chatham; many nieces, nephews, sisters- and brothers-in-law.
Visitation hours followed by a funeral service were held Monday, November 10 at the Bates and Anderson Redmond-Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
John J. Luckacovic (1927 – 2014)
VALATIE—John J. Luckacovic, 87, a resident of Barnwell Nursing Home, formerly of Croton-on-Hudson, died peacefully Sunday, November 9, 2014 at Barnwell.
Born June 4, 1927 in Tarrytown, he was the son of the late John, Sr. and Anna (Mocha) Luckacovic.
He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II and was married to Theresa E. (DiCesare) May 3, 1947 in Warren, Ohio.
Upon his discharge from the Navy, he started working for his father at Johnny’s Taxi in Tarrytown. Prior to his retirement he worked for the Maue Oil Company in Ossining.
He is survived by: his children, John P. Luckacovic (Eleanor) of Canaan, Cindy Johnson (Don) of Edinburg, and granddaughter, Becky. He was predeceased by his wife, Theresa Luckacovic in 2008.
Calling hours will be Thursday, November 13 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. A graveside service will be held at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Friday, November 14 at 1 p.m.

Katharina Nowak (1920 – 2014)
LITITZ, PA—Katharina Nowak, 94 of Hillsdale passed away Tuesday November 11, 2014 at the Lancaster Regional Medical Center.
She was born October 20, 1920 in Borowagora, Poland, a daughter of Ivan and Teodozia Hyrsiewicz.
A housewife and mother, she and her late husband, Stanley operated the family dairy farm in Hillsdale for many years.
Survivors include: her sons, Peter J. Nowak, Sr. of Hillsdale and John Nowak of Manteca, CA; her daughters, Donna Martin of Sun Lake, AZ, Mary Drozdowski of Lancaster, PA, and Stella Roberts of Claverack. She also leaves six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Stanley, who died in 1991, she was also predeceased by two grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, November 19, 2014, 2 p.m. from the Parish of Our Lady of Hope, 8074 Route 22 in Copake Falls, with the Reverend George Brennan officiating.
Interment will follow in new St. Bridget’s Cemetery, Copake Falls.
