OBITUARIES: Segschneider, Cade


Donna M. Segschneider (1954 – 2018)

HILLSDALE—Donna Marie (Brancaccio) Segschneider, 63, wife of Gustave R. Segschneider, Jr., of Hillsdale passed away tragically April 7, 2018 during a car accident.

She was born October 31, 1954 in Corona, the daughter of the late Nicholas and Bertha Brancaccio.

Mrs. Segschneider was a well-known and active member of the community. She spent years volunteering at school functions, presiding as president of the PTA and participating in town events.

Many knew Mrs. Segschneider as the proprietor of Mountain Video or were greeted by her smiling face during her tenure at the Columbia County Department of Motor Vehicles. She also held a number of positions in and around Columbia County, including realtor with Beach & Bartolo, substitute teacher at Taconic Hills Central School, dispatcher for 911 at the county Sheriff’s Office, videographer of weddings and events and teller at Hudson River Bank & Trust.

Her first job at Xerox led her to meet her husband of 40 years, Gus Segschneider, and the two were on their way to celebrate their April 8 anniversary before the accident. Mr. Segschneider remains in the ICU at this time.

Mrs. Segschneider is survived by: her husband, Gustave; their three children, Jaime D’Aquino, Gustave Segschneider III and Heather Segschneider; in addition, her son-in-law, John D’Aquino, future daughter-in-law, Jennifer Kaspin and her first grandchild due in August. She was also one of six children and is survived by her brothers and sisters: Mary Lou Kossack, Joseph and Sabrina Brancaccio, Vincent and Barbara Brancaccio, Richard and JoAnn Brancaccio and Theresa and Kurt Hansen, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family for a viewing Tuesday, April 24 from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McVeigh Funeral Home, 208 North Allen Street, Albany.

Funeral services will be announced at a later date.

Herbert S. Cade (1938 – 2018)

HUDSON—Herbert S. Cade, 80, passed away Friday, April 13, 2018.

He was the son of the late Elwood and Daisy Cade; and the loving husband to Barbara Cade.

Along with his wife, Barbara, Mr. Cade is survived by: his daughter, Linda Baker; his grandchildren, Steven and Bruce Webster, and Jennifer and Brittany Cade; and several great-grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his sons, Michael Cade and Herbert Cade, Jr.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, April 27, 2018, 11 am. at Trinity Unity Methodist Church, 555 Joslen Boulevard, Greenport. Arrangements are with New Comer Cremations and Funerals, 343 New Karner Road, Colonie.
