Barbara N. Scutt (1940 – 2014)

PLATTSBURGH—Barbara N. Scutt, 74, of Chazy passed away December 24, 2014 at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital Medical Center.

She was born January 13, 1940 in Sharon, CT, the daughter of the late Floyd R. and Lena (Briggs) Funk, Sr.

Ms. Scutt enjoyed spending time with her family. The grandchildren and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy. She also enjoyed shopping, bingo, oldies music and doing word searches.

Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Leon Scutt, Sr.; second husband, Byron (Barney) Brill; siblings, Marjorie and Frank Drury, Floyd Funk, Jr., and a daughter, Diane Scutt.

Survivors include: her loving companion and friend, Carl Munson of Chazy; a sister, Wanda Wheeler of Amenia; her children, Leon Scutt of Pleasant Valley, Barbara Dayton (John) of Red Hook, Cynthia Scutt of Hillsdale and Linda VanVoet (Rick) of Rigsby, FL; grandchildren, Paula Barto (Mike), April Gorman (Jim) of Dover Plains, Susan Barto (Derrick) of Hinsdale, MA, Michael Barto, B.J. Dayton of Troy, Rose Houghtaling of Chatham, Jessica and Melissa Scutt of Pleasant Valley; great-grandchildren, Daniel, Jackson, Kierra, Chance, Leah, Autumn, Cassandra, Sherrie and Marie. She is also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains.

Funeral services will be at noon Wednesday at the funeral home with Deacon Jackie Jefferson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Stanford Cemetery, Stanfordville.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions are requested to Paula Barto, 362 Stetson Road, Chazy 12921 to help pay for remaining funeral costs or to be donated to an organization in Ms. Scutt’s name.

Leroy Herron (1938 – 2014)

PITTSFIELD, MA—Leroy Herron of Hillsdale passed away December 25 in Pittsfield, MA.

Born August 6, 1938, in Great Barrington, MA, he was the son of the late Leroy and Augusta Wollny Herron.

Mr. Herron, known as “Roy,” grew up in Hillsdale and graduated from Roeliff Jansen Schools and then attended Albany Business School.

He enlisted in the Army Reserves after which he went on to become a bartender. He worked in various hotels in Florida and later would move back to Columbia County working as a bartender in various country clubs. Mr. Herron also ran an automobile supply business until his retirement.

He enjoyed music, golf and was an avid reader.

He is survived by: his sister, Patricia Marangine of North Tonawanda; his nephew, Steven Beningo of Derwood, MD; his niece, Dr. Karyn Beningo of Niagara Falls and several cousins.

He is predeceased by his sister, Constance L. Herron.

There will be a calling hour at noon, Friday, January 2 at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. A prayer service will be celebrated at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers contributions in Mr. Herron’s name to the Hospice of the Berkshires would be appreciated.
