Frank J. Roetina (1946 – 2019)
ALBANY—Frank J. Roetina, 72, of Valatie died Saturday, April 13, 2019 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born September 5, 1946 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Frank J. Roetina, Sr., and the late Katherine (Graziano) Rhines.
He was a retired correction officer having worked at the Greene County Correctional Facility in Coxsackie. He was a member of the Kinderhook Elks Lodge #2530 and enjoyed fishing, golfing and their home on the Cape.
He is survived by: his wife, Claudette (Welch) Roetina; two children, Ryan J. Roetina (Gina) of Valatie and Kelley K. Hover (Jonathan) of Rensselaer and five grandchildren, Brandon, Devin, Rosie, Cameron and Owen.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 18, 11 a.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, with the Reverend George Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in Kinderhook Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 17 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Edward H. Arnold (1926 – 2019)
KINDERHOOK—Funeral services for Edward Henry Arnold, 92, of San Antonio, TX, formerly of Kinderhook, will be held Thursday, April 25, 2 p.m. at the Kinderhook Reformed Church with the Reverend Rudy Visser officiating. Burial will follow in Kinderhook Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, April 24 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

Alexander L. Hern (1996 – 2019)
NIVERVILLE—Alexander Leo Hern, known as “Zander,” 22, of Niverville left this life Wednesday, March 21, 2019, after a long struggle with bipolar mental illness.
He was born May 28, 1996 in Albany, son of Damon and Mary Ellen (Wisniewski) Hern, and brother of Charlotte V. Hern. He was baptized at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Kinderhook, and attended Ichabod Crane schools.
He was a musician, studying piano, percussion and bass guitar, singing in choruses, and playing in the Riders Marching Band. In summer he attended Beaver Cross Camp, Space Camp in Montreal, and environmental education camp in the Adirondacks. He became ill in high school and participated in seminars sharing his depression and illness. He graduated with a Regents diploma with honors, Class of 2014.
Mr. Hern attended SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury, studying electrical technology. He was employed part-time at Cumberland Farms in Valatie, where he made many friends. He loved language, history and gaming, and he was a writer: he leaves a 270-page manuscript about Siegfried, a turn-of the century wizard with amazing powers.
Mr. Hern is survived by: his family in Kinderhook and Rochester: grandmother, Marilyn Barone Wisniewski; uncles, Mark Wisniewski, Carl (Roseanne Montante) Wisniewski; aunt, Linda Wisniewski; cousins, Carla Wisniewski, Alyssa Wisniewski and Michael Pappas. He was assisted by many individuals in this community, especially his guidance counselors and mental health professionals.
On Saturday, May 4, 2019, 2 p.m., a public memorial celebration of his life will be held at Kinderhook Reformed Church, 21 Broad Street, Kinderhook. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Zander Hern Creativity Scholarship, or to the Class of 2014 Scholarship, both c/o Ichabod Crane Central School District, 2910 Route 9, Valatie, NY 12184, or to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) Columbia County, Inc., P.O. Willard S. Meyers (1941 – 2019)
HUDSON—Willard S. “Bill” Meyers, 77, of Claverack passed away Thursday April 11, 2019 in Hudson.
Born September 15, 1941 in Hudson, he was the son of Willard S. and Marion (Moore) Meyers.
Those who understood him, knew he was a strong-willed, hard-working determined man who did not leave this earth easily since there was always more work to be done and better deal to be made.
He decided Thursday evening that it was time to let himself rest and finally retire free from the pain of all those years of hard labor.
In 1966, Mr. Meyers started Meyers Tree Service, which eventually became Meyers Contracting and Landscaping. In 2001, the business became Meyers Contracting, with son Michael as the principal. Until his passing, Mr. Meyers continued to be a part of the business he so loved for more than 50 years. He was an accomplished, well-respected businessman, not only in Hudson, but throughout Columbia and surrounding counties. Mr. Meyers was an avid stamp collector, and enjoyed carnivals, county fairs and flea markets. He was a devoted, loving family man who cherished his 10 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He is survived by: his wife, Penelope “Penny” (Wolven) Meyers, and his children, Michael, Cynthia, Billie Teresa, and Brenda. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his daughter, Kimberly.
Funeral services will held Saturday, April 20, 10 a.m. from the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Visitation hours at the funeral home will be Friday, April 19 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Meyers’ name may be made to Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.
Donald L. Hotaling (1941 – 2019)
HUDSON—Donald L. Hotaling, 78, of Jacksonville, Florida, and formerly of West Taghkanic, passed away April 11, 2019.
He was born February 10, 1941, to the late Harold and Elizabeth (Wright) Hotaling. He worked for many years as a laborer in the maintenance department at Lake Taghkanic. On Sundays he enjoyed watching wrestling, and always enjoyed taking care of his home and property. He was a life-member of the West Taghkanic Fire Company.
Mr. Hotaling is survived by: his wife, Gail (Lawson) Hotaling; his two daughters, Barbara Hotaling and her companion Tom, and Donna Williams; his four grandchildren, Rachael and Megan Tuczynski, and Nicholas and Nicole Williams; also his brother, Charles Hotaling.
In addition to his parents he was also predeceased by his four siblings, Harold, Jr., Leon, Betty Jane Laraway and Kathleen Stoner.

Franklin D. June (1933 – 2019)
CLAVERACK—Franklin Delano June, 86, of Claverack peacefully passed away into heaven Saturday, April 13, 2019 to be with his loving and devoted wife, Julia.
“Frank,” as he preferred to be called, was born April 2, 1933 in Stockport to Burton Simon and Myrtle Eva (Taylor) June.
In his early and teenage years he lived in Stockport before eventually relocating to Hudson. He was inducted into the United States Army in 1953, served tours in Germany and France, and was honorably discharged in 1955.
Mr. June was an active member of the Stockport Fire Company for a number of years in the 1950s. On December 14, 1962 he married Julia (Duda) June, and shortly thereafter they settled in Claverack, where he resided until his passing. He was employed for more than 35 years at the Universal Match Corp. as a master mechanic, and then a printer, where he was extremely active in the IUE Union. Upon the closing of the match corp., he was employed by the Kingston Oil Supply Corporation as an HVAC technician until his retirement in 1997.
Mr. June is survived by: his two step-children, James E. DeCrosta of Claverack and Arlene F. (DeCrosta) and son-in-law, Donald M. Romanchuck of Keeseville; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. June was predeceased by his beloved and devoted wife, Julia June, along with four brothers and five sisters.
Visitation hours at the Bates & Anderson Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson are Friday, April 19, 2019 from 10 a.m. to noon, followed by a funeral service at 12:30 p.m. from St. Michael’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 59 Partition Street, Hudson. Interment with full military honors will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery.

Carol A. Decker (1952 – 2019)
ALBANY—Carol A. Decker, 66, of East Nassau passed away at Albany Medical Center, April 15, 2019.
Born in Newport, VT, to the late Raymond and Lila Lucas she was the loving wife of Wayne Decker.
She was a loving person who was always willing to help anyone. She also had a love of cooking. She worked as a library assistant at the New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School for 22 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by: her daughters, Charlene (Chris) Carroll and Sharon (Scott) Putnam; step-daughters, Melissa (Trevor) Decker, Tina (Marc) Decker and Crystal (Chris) Jones; siblings, Wayne, David and Steve Lucas and Joyce Hebert. She also leaves her 12 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren to whom she was a loving “Nana” and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm Street, Nassau, Thursday, April 18 from 4 to 8 p.m. to celebrate Mrs. Decker’s life.
