Kevin R. Riell (1958 – 2014)
SHELBURNE, VT—Kevin R. Riell, 56, of Shelburne, VT, a beloved husband, father, son, brother and friend passed away unexpectedly of natural causes, December 15, 2014.
He was born February 19, 1958 in Hudson, and was a graduate of Taconic Hills High School, SUNY Plattsburgh and received a Masters in Administration at Norwich University in VT.
Mr. Riell began his career at the Burlington YMCA and taught physical education in Middlebury, VT. He continued his professional journey at Champlain Valley Union High School in VT, as physical educator/coach and then found his true passion as student activities/athletic director for the past 30 years.
He loved family vacations, golf, a good card game, his New York Giants, and family dog, Jem.
Mr. Riell is survived by: his wife, Linda Bergquist Riell; daughter, Lexa; his mother, Susan Riell and partner Rolf Schmalzer; brothers, twin Tom and wife Deb, Jeff and wife Dawn, Michael and Greg; sister, Diane; many nieces, nephews and close friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Robert and brother, Jamie.

A celebration of Mr. Riell’s life will be held at Champlain Valley Union High School, Hinesburg, VT, Saturday, January 3, at 9 a.m.

Salvatore J. Praga, Sr. (1935 – 2014)
ALBANY—Salvatore J. Praga, Sr., 79, of Valatie died December 18, 2014 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born March 6, 1935 in Albany, he was the son of the late Mark and Bellma (Williams) Praga.
Mr. Praga was a United States Marine Corps veteran and worked for the Fort Orange Paper Company in Castleton as an offset printer and pressman for 38 years.
He was a Civil War buff and loved hunting, carpentry and antique shopping.
He is survived by: his wife of 56 years, Dorothy (Huyck) Praga; four children, Jeffrey Praga (Corrine) of Florida, Merry Malcolm (Andrew) of Craryville, Camille Praga (Michelle Spitler) of Kinderhook and Salvatore Praga, Jr., (Katie Rapolo) of Kinderhook; a brother, Philip Praga of Valatie; his brother-in-law and lifelong friend, Howard “Duke” Huyck of Valatie; five grandchildren, Kitti-Marie Praga, Dustyn and Jesse Connell, Brennan Hamm and Faith-Marie Praga; one great-grandson, Mathias Connell and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Michael and Christopher Praga.
Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. Contributions may be made to the Valatie Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 242, Valatie 12184.

Frances Guido (1924 – 2014)
LIVINGSTON—Frances Guido, 90, of Stuyvesant died December 19, 2014 at Livingston hills Nursing Home.
She was born August 18, 1924 in south Ozone Park. She spent her earlier years working in the kitchen of PS-45, a school in Queens.
She was the daughter of the late Tony Derasmo and Anne Cassano and sister to the late John Derasmo and Frank Derasmo.
Mrs. Guido was the wife of the late Nicholas Guido, Sr.; the mother of three sons, the late Anthony Guido and two surviving sons, Vito Guido of Merrick and Nicholas Guido, Jr., of Stuyvesant. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Michael Guido, Janine Crowley, Anthony Guido, Gina Guido and Joseph Guido, and one great-grandson, Christopher Guido.
Calling hours will be Monday December 22 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, The funeral follows at noon at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. John’s the Baptist Cemetery, Valatie.
