Ethel Potts (1917 – 2014)
PHILMONT—Ethel Potts, 97, of Clermont died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at the Pine Haven Home.
Born June 7, 1917 in Germantown, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Elva (Ham) Funk.
Mrs. Potts was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Viewmont, the Livingston Manor Grange and the Clermont Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary.
Survivors include: a son, James (Faye) Potts; daughter, Carole Staats; sister, Betty Jennings, all of Clermont; grandchildren, James Potts, Jr., Susan (Ronald) Rifenburgh and Raymond (Jennifer) Staats; five great-grandchildren, Garrett Rifenburgh, James Potts, III, Amy Potts, Morgan Staats, Kyle Staats; two great-great-grandchildren, Zoe Bernstein and Karlie Hunt.
She was predeceased by her husband, Sherman Potts, who died in 1998, and a brother, Cecil Funk.
Services were held Wednesday, September 17 at Christ Lutheran Church in Viewmont.
Interment followed in the Viewmont Rural Cemetery.
Memorial donations are requested to the Christ Lutheran Church or the Clermont Fire Company.

Marion S. Best (1918 – 2014)
PHILMONT—Marion S. Best, 95, of Livingston died Sunday, September 14 at the Pine Haven Home.
Born September 28, 1918 in Germantown, she was the daughter of the late Gordon and Caroline (Cox) Saulpaugh.
Mrs. Best was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Manorton. Before her retirement she worked as a registered nurse for many years at Eden Park Nursing Home of Hudson.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Ann Gaschel of Hillsdale and Linda Wildermuth of Hudson; grandchildren, Thomas, Alison and Christine and five great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clifford, who died in 1989; a daughter, Caroline Ann Best and granddaughter, Mary Jill Gaschel Hapeman.
There are no calling hours.
Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday, September 18, 11 a.m. at the St. John’s Cemetery in Manorton.
The family thanks the staff at Pine Haven for the wonderful care given to Mrs. Best.

Ruth Decker (1922 – 2014)
ARLINGTON, VA—Ruth Decker, 92, of Germantown and Virginia died Sunday, September 14, 2014 at Halquist Memorial Inpatient Center Hospice.
For 55 years, Mrs. Decker worked for New York State—32 full-time and 23 part-time. She started in 1943 as a clerk in the Public Service Commission in Albany. She left there in 1968 as assistant finance officer. She returned to state employment in 1970 as payroll clerk at the Division for Youth Brookwood Center in Claverack. She was promoted in 1973 to payroll and assistant personnel officer at Taconic Region of New York State Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation in Staatsburg. She retired in 1977 when payroll and personnel were transferred to Albany. From 1977 to 1984, Mrs. Decker worked as a tour guide at Olana State Historic Site, Greenport; from 1984 to 1989, she worked half-time as grants clerk for the Taconic Region; and from 1990 to 2001, she work half-time as grants clerk at Office of Parks in Albany.
Mrs. Decker was a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Viewmont, Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Vienna, Virginia, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Germantown History Department. She loved history and genealogy, and she also served as historian for Christ Lutheran Church.
Born May 3, 1922 in Germantown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Sophia (Engelbart) Van Campen.
Survivors include: a daughter, Nancy Decker; a granddaughter, Sophia Decker, both of Virginia; a brother and sister-in-law, Charles and Gloria Van Campen of Hudson; several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Decker who died in 2006.
Calling hours will be held Friday, September 19, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown.
Services will be held Saturday, September 20, 11 a.m. at Christ Lutheran Church in Viewmont.
Interment will follow in the Viewmont Rural Cemetery.
A memorial service will also be held in Vienna, VA, at a date to be determined.
Ronald A. Carlucci (1935 – 2014)
HUDSON—Ronald A. Carlucci, 79, of Germantown died Monday, September 15, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born January 2, 1935 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Augusto and Sarah (Gasparri) Carlucci.
He had served with the U.S. Army from 1954 to 1956. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for many years as a field engineer for IBM in Kingston.
He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and the Jennings- Willets American Legion Post in Germantown.
Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Florence Schmitt Carlucci; a son, James (Angela) Carlucci of Kinderhook; daughter, Lynn (Michael) Mead of Germantown; two brothers, Nicola (Naomi) Carlucci of Maryland and Vincenzo (Helen) Carlucci of Ghent; two sisters, Angela Ferraro of Hudson and Julia (Ralph) Graziano of Greenport; two grandchildren, Maria Carlucci and Anthony Carlucci.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, September 18, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown.
Services will be Friday, September 19, 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home and 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish/St. Mary’s Church, Hudson, where Fr. Winston Bath will celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial.
Interment will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.

Helen L. Dunavin (1920 – 2014)
EAST CHATHAM—Helen L. Dunavin, 94, of Albany Turnpike Road, East Chatham died Monday, September 15 at her home surrounded by loved ones.
Mrs. Dunavin was born July 2, 1920 in Hayward, Wisconsin, the daughter of the late Samuel S. and Wista (Eytcheson) Pierce.
She was married in 1929 to the late Jon Dunavin (1986) and moved to Chatham in 1944. She was employed at the former Hay Rake in Canaan, as well as the Berkshire Farm Center for Youth. She also owned and operated Jon’s Diner in New Lebanon for 20 years.
Mrs. Dunavin is survived by: her four sons, Douglas D., Nathan E., Richard E., all of East Chatham and Robert E. of Canaan; two daughters, Nancy E. Schwarzmueller of Naples, FL, and Nola J. Goetchius of Coxsackie; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Pierce. Funeral services will be held Friday, September 19, 10 a.m. from the Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, Chatham. Interment will be in the Cemetery of the Maples.
