Barbara F. M. Oles (1932 – 2018)
GHENT—Barbara Frances Moore Oles, 86, of Philmont died Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
Born March 3, 1932, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Leona (Aken) Moore.
Mrs. Oles was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt. She was a member of the Second Reformed Church of Claverack and an affiliate-member of the First Presbyterian Church of Zephyrhills, Florida. Mrs. Oles was a member of Lioness, Philmont Community Choir and was a choir member in both of her churches.
She graduated from Philmont High School as salutatorian of her class. Throughout her life, Mrs. Oles cared for children, her own, nieces and nephews and nurtured so many more as a babysitter. An inveterate baker, everyone remembers her holiday cookies. She was an extraordinarily warm and gentle presence in the lives of those who knew her.
She is survived by: her sons, Allen Oles of Prague, OK, Brian Oles of Philmont; daughter, Debbie Edwards (Mark) of Zephyrhills, FL; six grandchildren, Matthew, Jason and Philip Edwards, Robin and Laura Oles and Tricia Dietrich; seven great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Dakota, Maia, Matthew, Skylar, Sierra and Brooklyn; numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gerald (Jerry) Oles, and her sister, Edna Barden.
Mrs. Oles passed after a lengthy illness, during which she was lovingly cared for by her son, Brian; niece, Lindsey VanDeusen, and other family members.
A memorial service will be held July 15, 2018, 1 p.m. at the Philmont United Methodist Church, 27 Church Street, Philmont, with the Reverend Ken Coddington officiating. Family and friends will gather at the family home following the service.
Memorial contributions may be made to: Animalkind, Inc., Hudson; Alzheimer’s Association or Columbia-Greene Humane Society, Hudson. Arrangements are with the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport.
Joan L. Kreutziger (1933 – 2018)
WEST LEBANON—Joan L. Kreutziger “Mrs. K,” 85, of West Lebanon passed away at home June 30, 2018.
Born in Bayside, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Katherine Dayhoff.
She was predeceased by her husband, Arthur Kreutziger in April 2017. She taught kindergarten and second grade in the New Lebanon Central School District for 30 years and was affectionately known as “Mrs. K.”
She is survived by: her sons, Jay (Cherie) Kreutziger and Jeffrey (Lisa) Kreutziger; daughter, Lee Ann (Joe Saviano) Kreutziger; grandchildren, Jay, Katherine, Jonathan, Jeffrey (Shauna) and Kristyn; great-grandchildren, Maddisyn and Jay, III.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service in the East Nassau Cemetery, Garfield Road, Tuesday, July 3 at 9 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mrs. Kreutziger’s memory may be made to the Regional Food Bank, 965 Albany Shaker Road Latham 12110 with New Lebanon Central School District Backpack Program in the memo Line.
