Arlene I. Oldrich (1942 – 2019)
HUDSON—Arlene I. Oldrich, 77, of Kinderhook died Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born April 22, 1942 in Hudson, she was the daughter the late Kenneth T. and Margaret (Powell) Isbester.
Mrs. Oldrich was a 1959 graduate of Ichabod Crane High School and was the school nurse at Martin H. Glynn School for more than 20 years, retiring in 2007. She was the head usher on Thursday nights at the MacHaydn Theatre in Chatham for several years and was a member of the Tri-Village and Ghent/Chatham Area senior citizens and the Stuyvesant Falls Fire Company Auxiliary.
She is survived by: two sons, Glenn Oldrich (Maryjean) of Chatham and Ed Oldrich of Valatie; two brothers, Paul Isbester of Kinderhook and Mark Isbester of Valatie; two grandchildren, David and Matthew Oldrich; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James J. Oldrich.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, June 17 at the Church of St. Joseph, Stuyvesant Falls, with the Reverend George Fleming officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Stuyvesant Falls. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to The Community Hospice of Columbia / Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414 or the Valatie Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 242, Valatie 12184.

Brian F. Smith (1960 – 2019)
NORTH CAROLINA—Brian F. Smith, 58, of Schodack passed away suddenly June 11, 2019 in North Carolina.
Born in Brooklyn July 3, 1960, he was the son of Fergus and Anne Smith. The family relocated to Upstate New York in his early teen years. He graduated from Ichabod Crane High School and quickly jumped into the roofing industry with his father and brothers.
Mr. Smith was a renowned slate roofer for the entirety of his life. His love for architecture and difficult tasks led him to work on some of the most historical buildings. His work took him all over the country from the North East to Hawaii.
He took much pride in his work, and loved working on landmarks that held a significance in the community and in his heart. Mr. Smith loved his family, especially his grandchildren Ian and Violet. He spent countless hours working on projects with his family, all the while joking and teasing them. He was an avid collector of firearms and antiques.
He was also a huge Cowboys fan. And his family the, “Cowboy Crew” would take their yearly trips to see games. He was always quick with a joke, and could bring laughter to any gathering. He will forever be greatly missed.
Mr. Smith is survived by: his son, Jason (Jessica); his daughter, Victoria (Roy Swann); his two grandchildren, Ian Smith and Violet Fisher; his brothers and sisters, Christopher Smith (Christine), Timothy Smith (Lisa), Bernadette Carman (James), Kathleen Frances (Mark), Jennifer Desmoine (Steven); brother-in-law, Thomas Garland and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Theresa Garland; mother, Anne Smith and father, Fergus Smith.
A Mass was held Tuesday June 18 at St. John the Baptist Church in Valatie. Burial immediately followed in St. John’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Out of The Pits, a local pit bull animal rescue, in honor of Mr. Smith’s love for his pit bull, Diesel.

Pamela B. Lappies (1950 – 2019)
CANAAN—Pamela Brock Lappies, freelance developmental editor for educational publishers, former teacher, and devoted spouse of Jeffrey Lappies, mother of Daniel and Cristian Lappies and grandmother of Eli Lappies, passed away June 9th at her home. She was 68.
Born in Bloomington, IL, she was the daughter of Elizabeth and Sanford Brock. She was a graduate of Horlick High School in Racine, WI. Later, she was a 1972 graduate of Macalester College, St. Paul, MN, where she earned a bachelor’s degree.
She married Jeff Lappies in 1973 in Golden Valley, NC.
She was a deacon of the Canaan Congregational Church.
Mrs. Lappies is survived by: her husband, Jeffrey; sons, Daniel and Cristian; grandson, Eli; her sister and brother-in-law, Sandra and Vic Ramsey and step-brothers Duane and Baird Washburn and step-sister, Linda Thrasher and their families; her mother-in-law, Jane Lappies and her sister-in-law, Sally Lappies.
Contributions in Mrs. Lappies’ name may be made to the Canaan Congregational Church.

Seth M. Giammarco (1996 – 2019)
VALATIE—Seth Michael Giammarco of Valatie entered into eternal rest June 13, 2019 at the age of 22.
He was born in Poughkeepsie, December 14, 1996 to Gregory and the late Lynda Sue (Schoonmaker) Giammarco.
He was a 2014 graduate of Ichabod Crane High School and was a member of the National Honor Society, Concert and Jazz bands, and president of the Video Game Design Club. He enjoyed drawing, designing and playing video games, and had a love for all creatures large and small.
Most recently, he worked as a clerk at Dunkin’ Donuts in Valatie while following his passion as a freelance artist. He was an avid streamer on Twitch.
Survivors include: his father and stepmother, Gregory and Robin Giammarco of Valatie; brother, Paul Giammarco of Buffalo; sister, Jill Giammarco (Richard) of Valatie; a niece, Addilyn; several aunts and uncles, and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother, Lynda Giammarco; his grandparents, Alfred and Emily Giammarco, Jacqueline and John Schoonmaker, and step-grandparents, Robert and Barbara Gray.

Visitation will be held June 20 from 4-8 PM at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. A funeral service will be held at Immanuel Church, 1955 Ferndale Road, Castleton-on-Hudson, June 21 at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, New Windsor at 2 p.m. The Reverend Brad Guenther officiates.
Carol J. Tuczinski (1932 – 2019)
ALBANY—Carol Jean Tuczinski, 86, of Chatham, daughter of the late Frank and Ida Charron, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family June 15, 2019 at Albany Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was a 1950 graduate of Chatham High School where she was a member of the choir and participated in school sports and activities.
Upon graduation, she was employed by the New York State Education Department in Albany. She later worked at the Chatham Courier newspaper before beginning her career at the Hudson City Savings Institution where she ascended to the position of branch manager in Chatham, before retiring in 1989.
Mrs. Tuczinski was a lifelong resident of the Chatham Community, which she loved dearly. She was known as someone who was “selfless” in giving her time and energy to numerous community activities. She was a longtime communicant of the St. James Roman Catholic Church in Chatham where she could be seen greeting the congregation with programs as they attended the Saturday evening Mass. She was a member of the American Legion Post 42 Ladies Auxiliary and acted as a poll-watcher in many local elections over the years.
In her later years, Mrs. Tuczinski delivered Meals on Wheels to housebound members of the community and acted as a mentor to young students at Chatham Middle School.
She was predeceased by her loving husband of 50 years, Martin “Marty” Tuczinski; her parents, Ida and Frank Charron and siblings, Wallace, Leonard, Claire, Nelson and Norman.
She is survived by her loving children, Daniel Tuczinski and his wife, Adriana of Chatham, Deborah Campbell and her husband Carl of Hillsdale, and Dale Tuczinski and his wife Christine of Granville, MA; her dear brother, Ronald Charron of Ghent; and her beloved sister-in-law, Lorene Bowes of Chatham. She was the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, Emily and Amanda Tuczinski, Kelsey and Christopher Campbell, Benjamin, Caroline and Matthew Tuczinski, and several nieces and nephews.
She will best be remembered for her love and devotion to her family, friends and community. Those who knew her will never forget her bright smile and infectious laugh.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Church in Chatham, Saturday, June 22 at 10 a.m. Calling hours will be held at the French, Gifford and Preiter Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, Friday, June 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. Interment will immediately follow the service at the St. James Cemetery in Ghent.

Nicholas F. Gerber (1999 – 2019)
EARLTON—Nicholas Friedrich Gerber, age 19, of Earlton passed away suddenly June 15, 2019.
He was born December 10, 1999 in Hudson, to parents Lee and Wanda (Smith) Gerber.
He was a 2018 graduate of Coxsackie-Athens High School and worked as a sales associate for Young’s General Store and Ace Hardware and later as an electrician apprentice at Jerry Jennings Electrical Contractors.
He enjoyed working and tinkering with all things automotive whether it was his work-in-progress go-kart or his prided 1978 Buick. He also enjoyed snowmobiling as well as working towards getting his pilot’s license.
Mr. Gerber was a talented craftsman in more ways than one. He designed vinyl signs, and took interest in metal works, wood working, and carving and crafting with deer antlers. He was a member of the 4H Club “Just Horsin’ Around” and an avid animal lover. He was a friend to many and will be dearly missed by all who loved him.
Survivors in addition to his parents Lee and Wanda (Smith) Gerber, include: his sister, Amanda Gerber; maternal grandparents, William and Susan Smith; paternal grandmother, Virginia Gerber; several aunts, uncles and cousins, and his girlfriend, Rachael Steinke.
Mr. Gerber was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Paul Gerber.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours Friday, June 21, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Richards Funeral Home of the Mid-Hudson Valley Inc., 29 Bross Street, Cairo. A prayer service will take place at 6:30 p.m.

Jeannette K. Ringer (1933 – 2019)
PHILMONT—Jeannette K. Ringer, 86, of Claverack died peacefully Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at Pine Haven Nursing Home.
Born February 2, 1933 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence and Katherine (Opshanski) Egnasher. She was the beloved wife of Raymond H. Ringer at home.
Mrs. Ringer was the chief billing clerk for 10 years with Allied Health Care in Stuyvesant Falls. In addition to her husband she will be greatly missed by her sons: Gordon Ringer and girlfriend Joann Acker of Round Top, Douglas and Diane Ringer of Schenectady; one daughter, Susan and Shawn Connors of Scotia-Glenville; two sisters, Patricia Kurland of Miami Beach, FL, Diane and Charles Stockmeier of Amelia, OH; one sister-in-law, Marlene Weisner of Greenport; grandchildren, Alexandra Ringer and her fiancé Derick Hasenkoph, Douglas Jr. and Cassandra Ringer, Katherine Ringer, Christopher and Jack Connors; great-grandchildren, Austin Ringer, Lindsay Ringer, Amber Ringer and Hailey Raymer.
