Andrea A. Nero (1945 – 2019)
HUDSON—Andrea Alexander Nero, 75, of Hudson passed peacefully September 16, 2019 with her loving family by her side.
She was born August 7, 1945 in the Bronx, raised in Mount Vernon and was the daughter of the late Johanna Alexander (Krueger) and Ivan John (Hryorchuck) Alexander.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Peter, John, Michael, and sister, Pauline.
Ms. Nero is survived by: her two sons, Joseph (Lisa) Nero and James (Jessica) Nero; nieces, Nina and Kim; nephews, Gregory and Matthew and the two loves of her life, Samantha Maye Nero and Wilhelmina Grace Nero. “See ya later alligator, in a while crocodile.”
She moved to Hudson after graduating from A.B Dais High School in Mt. Vernon and attended the Cavell School of Nursing where she began her career as a beloved and devoted caregiver. She continued her pursuit of education obtaining both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in nursing education. Ms. Nero worked at Columbia Memorial Hospital for nearly 30 years before moving to Connecticut for the next chapter in her life. For the next 10 years she continued her career in nursing education and staff development at Bristol Hospital where she also made lasting memories and great friends. She later moved back to New York, living in Troy to be closer to her family and worked as an associate director for the New York State Nurses Association, from where she later retired.
Ms. Nero then moved back to Hudson to be closer to her friends, family and to begin life as a grandmother. Her love of the ocean and the rocky coast lead her to the State of Maine many times throughout her life, traveling with family, many of her good friends or just by herself for a peaceful getaway. She will be remembered for her bullish ways and telling it like it is, and for her generosity, kindness and loving heart.
Visitation will be Tuesday, September 24, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bates and Anderson-Redmond Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, September 25, 2019, 11 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson. Interment will be private.
Ms. Nero’s family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of St. Peter’s Hospital, and especially to the members and staff of the Oncology Department and the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to the St. Peter’s Medical Oncology Department and/or the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s, 315 South Manning Boulevard, Albany 12208.
Craig A. Summers (1943 – 2019)
SHARON, CT—Craig Alan Summers, 76, a lifelong Millerton resident, died unexpectedly Sunday, September 15, 2019 at Sharon Hospital.
Mr. Summers recently retired following a 26-year career with the Salisbury School where he worked as the gymnasium supervisor.
Born February 3, 1943 in Sharon, CT, he was the son of the late Lionel and Ruth Summers. He was a 1961 graduate of Webutuck High School.
On June 4, 1961 in Carmel, he married Bonnie Hoag. Mrs. Summers survives at home.
Mr. Summers was a past captain and honorary member of the Millerton Fire Company and served his community on the Town of North East Zoning Board at one time. He was an avid New York Mets and Giants fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting, hunting camp and spending time with his family at the cottage in Otis, MA. He was a great friend to many and he will be dearly missed by his loving family.
In addition to his wife of 58 years, Mr. Summers is survived by: four grandchildren, Andre Summers, Courtney Face and her husband Scott, Danelle Summers and her companion Jonah Spampinato and Kyle Summers; his daughter-in-law, Liana Summers-Roberts and her husband Dale of Copake; his close friend, Tom Miller of Canaan, CT, who he considered a brother; several nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
Mr. Summers was predeceased by two sons, Dean Summers in 2009 and Scott Summers in 2014, and by a sister, Evelyn Laurie of Chatham.
Funeral services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
