Eunice E. Nabozny (1930 – 2017)
HUDSON—Eunice Nabozny, 86, of Hudson died peacefully at home, Wednesday, January 25, 2017 with her loving family by her side.
Born March 22, 1930 in Hudson, she was the daughter of John and Evelyn (Keil) Fowler.
Mrs. Nabozny lived for several years in Valatie before moving to Stuyvesant Falls where she was brought up on a farm, reaping the rewards of a country life. She graduated from Hudson High School in 1948, then continued her studies at the Columbia Memorial Hospital School of Nursing earning her registered nurse degree in 1951. Her career in nursing included working at Columbia Memorial Hospital, Albany Medical Center, Pine Haven Nursing Home and the Columbia County Department of Health. Mrs. Nabozny’s passion for nursing and caring for others has been carried on by her daughters Jeanne and Lisa, both registered nurses who emulate their mother’s dedication to the profession. She had a strong faith in God, and was a devoted member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson, and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Mrs. Nabozny was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Her generosity showed every time she cooked or baked and tried a new recipe to share. Some of her favorites were coffee cake, apple pie and pierogies. Mrs. Nabozny loved all animals, especially cats. She was a huge fan of Channel 10’s Pet Connection. A special place that she loved to travel to with her beloved husband, Larry, was Ogunquit, ME. Mr. and Mrs. Nabozny were married November 27, 1954, and they shared 42 wonderful years together. She especially enjoyed spending time with her family. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always brightened her day.
Left to cherish Mrs. Nabozny’s memory are: her children, David Nabozny, Richard Nabozny, Jeanne Nabozny and Lisa (Joseph) McNally; grandchildren, Alicia (Scott) Nichols, Andrew (Sarah) Nabozny, Jeffrey (Kalyn) Nabozny, Christopher Doring and Shane McNally; great-grandchildren, Silas Nichols, Ian and Noah Nabozny; cousin, John Knitt; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence G. Nabozny, brother Jack Fowler, stepfather Henry Miller, and daughter-in-law, Patricia Nabozny.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 30, 10 a.m. from St. Mary’s Church in Hudson. Visitation at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson will be Sunday, January 29 from 3 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Nabozny may be made to Catholic Charities of Columbia-Greene Counties or the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.
Susan J. Gaige (1931 – 2017)
GHENT—Susan J. Gaige, 85, of Menands died Thursday, January 26 at Whittier Skilled Nursing Center.
Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Harry I. Gaige, Jr.
A lifelong resident of Menands, she was a graduate of Watervliet High School, class of 1950. Miss Gaige was a clerk in the accounting department of the New York Telephone Company for 36 years retiring in 1986. She was a communicant of St. Matthew’s Episcopal Church in Latham.
Miss Gaige is survived by: her niece/godchild, Colleen Shaughnessey Riozzi and her husband Michael, Sr., and son Michael, Jr., of Hudson; nephew/godchild, William Shaughnessey and his son Tyler of Schenectady; many other nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her niece, JoAnn Shaughnessey; brother, Harry I. Gaige, III, and sisters, Nancy Moore and Prudy Shaughnessey.
Miss Gaige’s family extends heartfelt appreciation to the entire Whittier Staff, and Columbia-Greene Hospice for their superior care and compassion.
Funeral services with the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson are private and at the convenience of the family.

Paul Scirico (1929 – 2017)
PHILMONT—Paul Scirico, 87, of Hudson died peacefully Wednesday January 25, 2017 at the Pine Haven Nursing Home.
He was born in Hudson, October 17, 1929 to the late Paul A. and Elizabeth (Clouse) Scirico.
After high school Mr. Scirico served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1947 to 1950. He later became a steelworker with Iron Workers Union Local 12 in Albany for 38 years. He was a member of Holy Family Church in Stottville, and later St. Mary’s Parish in Hudson. He was predeceased by his wife, Eileen in 1999.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family including: sons, Kevin and (Kathy), Mark and (Tammie), Paul and (Moria) Scirico; his sisters, Mary Orbon, Margaret Van Buren, Lucy Miller, Betty and (John) Unson and Jennie Richardson; grandchildren, Taryn, Christopher, Nicholas, Adam, Andrew, Ariel and one great-grandson, Adam.
He was predeceased by brothers, Phillip and James as well as sisters, Antoinette and Carmella.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, February 1, 2017 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services will be Thursday, February 2, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.
