Inez B. Murphy (1925 – 2018)
REDWING, MN—Inez B. Murphy, 93, of Niverville died Thursday, July 5, 2018 at the Mayo Clinic.
Born July 5, 1925 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Elmer and Alice (Collins) Jones.
Ms. Murphy was a registered nurse for 20 years with the OD Heck Developmental Center in Valatie.
She is survived by: her daughter, Beverly A. (James) LaChance and her son, George Albert Stanley, both of Albany; grandchildren, Melissa and Kevin Bessman, Kristofer and Kodey Stanley, Troy and Melissa Klenke, Toni and Jeff Adrian of Wisconsin; great-grandchildren, Karter Stanley, Mickenzie and Abigail Klenke and step-daughter, Patricia (Fred) Klenke.
She was predeceased by her husband, George D. Stanley.
Funeral services and burial will be private at the Woodlawn Cemetery, Valatie. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.
Lisa L. Hallock (1972 – 2018)
VALATIE—Lisa Lynn Hallock, 46, of Valatie died Saturday, July 7, 2018 at The Grand at Barnwell.
Born April 27, 1972 in Albany, she was the daughter of Kenneth Hallock, II, of Kinderhook and Sharon (O’Connell) Pitts.
Ms. Hallock was an assistant manager at Walmart in Hudson. She was an avid photographer and loved renaissance literature and Yo Yo Ma.
Besides her parents, she is survived by: her brother, Kenneth B. Hallock, III, of Stuyvesant Falls; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 12, 11 a.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 10 15 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Burial will follow in Kinderhook Cemetery. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 11 from 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Capital District Chapter, 2 City Square, 324 Broadway, Albany 12207-2977.
Stephen Gurny (1930 – 2018)
HUDSON—Stephen Gurny, 88, of Hudson passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, Sunday July 8 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born January 9, 1930 in Hudson, he was the son of Ukraine immigrants, Dmytro and Mary (Gryglewicz) Gurny.
He was a foreman with the City of Hudson Water Department. He was also employed at Foster’s Refrigeration, Interpace Corporation and Columbia-Greene Community College. Mr. Gurny was a member of St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, a life-member of JW Edmonds Hose Company #1, and a former member of the Federation of Polish Sportsmen. He was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.
Mr. Gurny is survived by: his beloved wife, Carolyn (Petroski) Gurny; three daughters, Catherine Barrett, Nancy (Mike) Maresco and Stephanie (Dan) Curry; he was a loving “Papa” to 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by two brothers, five sisters, and his son-in-law, Daniel Barrett.
More than anything, Mr. Gurny loved to spend time with his family and friends, as he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. His good nature, wit and humor were embraced by all who knew him.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday July 12, 10 a.m. from Holy Trinity / St Mary’s Parish in Hudson. Visitation at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson will be Wednesday, July 11 from 4 to 7 p.m.
William A. Watson (1948 – 2018)
HUDSON—William “Billy” Alan Watson went home to see his Lord and Savior, July 7, 2018.
He was born in Milledgeville, GA, October 24, 1948 to Beauty Lee Devero and Johnny C. Watson.
Mr. Watson graduated from Hudson Hugh School in 1966. He was drafted into the Army shortly after entering college in 1966. He attended Shiloh Baptist Church as a child. He enjoyed raising pigeons and spending time with his nieces and nephews.
He held several jobs and was a productive member of society. Mr. Watson was predeceased by his brothers, Johnny Watson, Jeffrey Watson and his sister, Julia Watson.
He is survived by his parents, Johnny C. and Beauty Lee Watson; five sisters, Emily Watson, Barbara Twiggs, Bernice Burgess and Wanda Watson, all of Albany, and Patricia Watson of Hudson; two brothers, Jay (Connie) Watson of Lacey, WA and Julius (Tonja) Watson of Troy; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Esther M. VanAlstyne (1933 – 2018)
RHINEBECK—Esther Mae VanAlstyne, 85, a lifelong Columbia County resident, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Ferncliff Nursing Home.
Born February 11, 1933 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Lester and Catherine E. (Burke) Dutcher.
For many years, Ms. VanAlstyne worked as a supervisor with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany.
She was predeceased by both her husbands, Edward F. Hermance and William VanAlstyne, Sr.; along with two sons, Vincent (Buddy) Hermance and Daniel Hermance; a sister, Helen Dutcher; a brother, Royce Dutcher; and a half-brother, Walt Dutcher.
She is survived by: a sister, Clara Rochester; a brother, Daniel Dutcher; her loving children, Margaret “Peg” Mead of Chatham, Michael (Alexis) Hermance of Murphy, NC, Joshua (Kathy) Hermance of Rotterdam, Edward (Caroline Borden) Hermance of Cohoes, Catherine “Kate” Hermance of Chatham, Molly Coons of Crystal Lake, IL, Patrick (Angie) Hermance of Fairmont, WV, William (Betsy) VanAlstyne, Jr., of Chatham and Lora (Marion) Gaymon of Schenectady; along with 26 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and many extended family members and friends.
A Memorial/Celebration of Life service will be held at the Ghent VFW Post 5933, 2237 State Route 66, Ghent, July 22, 2018 at 3 p.m.
