Stewart A. Mosher (1981 – 2015)
ALBANY—Stewart Allen Mosher, resident of Selkirk, died at age 34 in Albany, November 27, 2015.
He was born August 6, 1981 in Saranac Lake to Denise (Poirier) and Terry Mosher.
He graduated in 2000 from New Lebanon Jr./Sr. High School, after which he served in the Marine Corps for four years and was honorably discharged. Later, he was employed as a safety officer at several locations and most recently as detention counselor at Berkshire Farm Center and Services for Youth, Canaan.
He enjoyed painting and writing in his free time and pursued publication of his works.
He is survived by: parents, David and Denise (Poirier) Hogle; siblings, Kai Hogle, Heather Hogle, Anna Hogle and all relatives in the extended Mosher, Poirier and Hogle families.
A calling hour will be held at the Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, Chatham, Saturday, December 5 from 1 to 2 p.m. with a memorial service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers or gifts, donations may be made to Capitol City Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl Street, Albany 12202 for their efforts to help homeless and needy people.

Doris M. Schmieder (1929 – 2015)
GHENT—Doris Madine (Deming) Schmieder, 86, of Ghent died peacefully Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Whittier Rehabilitation and Nursing facility, where she was surrounded by her family.
She was born March 1, 1929 in Hartford, CT, the daughter of the late Lester and Bessie (Gray) Deming. She lived in Hudson for the past five years after moving back to the area from North Port, FL.
She worked at Ichabod Crane Central School in the business office for several years before working at Central Chemical Corporation in Kinderhook with her late husband until retirement. She was a member of the Kinderhook Reformed Church.
She is survived by: a daughter and son-in-law, Claudia and Arnold March of Kinderhook; a son and daughter- in- law, David and Barbara Drumm of Orange Park, FL; a sister, Bonnie (Bruce) Kinkade of Jensen Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Gary (Sarah) March, Jason (Joann) March, Amanda (Anthony) Reyome, Angelina (Josh) Hendron, David F. Drumm and Lindi Hart; seven great-grandchildren; a niece and nephew of Connecticut.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert C. Schmieder and her brother, Richard Deming.
Calling hours will be Friday, December 4, 2015 from 10 a.m. to noon with the service immediately following at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Inc., 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Burial will be in Kinderhook Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Kinderhook Reformed Church or a charity of one’s choice.
Barbara W. Bielenberg (1927 – 2015)
RHINEBECK—Barbara Jean (Weil) Bielenberg died peacefully at her apartment at Arbor Ridge at Brookmeade, November 27, 2015.
She was born May 7, 1927, in New York City, the first daughter of Norman O. Weil and Clara Louise (Kling) Weil of Bronxville.
She attended Crestwood Elementary School and Theodore Roosevelt High School in Yonkers, graduating in 1945. Mrs. Bielenberg attended Michigan State University, where she majored in art history and theater.
She moved to New York City where she joined the staff of the Ted Bates Advertising Agency as a copywriter from 1949 to 1951. In 1951 she married Robert C. Bielenberg, a commercial artist with Carl Byoir and Associates and moved to the Inwood section of Manhattan, where she raised three children. In 1954 the Bielenbergs bought property overlooking the Hudson River in Garrison, where a year later they built their much beloved contemporary “glass” house designed by Stanley M. Torkelsen of the architectural firm of Edward Durrell Stone.
In 1959 Mrs. Bielenberg joined the staff of Boscobel in Cold Spring, and rapidly rose to the position of assistant director. She later worked for Sleepy Hollow Restorations as property manager of Philipsburg Manor in Tarrytown. In the 1970s, Mrs. Bielenberg worked for Historic Hudson Valley (the successor to Sleepy Hollow Restorations) promoting tourism and public visitation to historic sites throughout the mid-Hudson Valley. Her last position was as property manager of Montgomery Place in Barrytown, from 1985 until her retirement.
The Bielenbergs worked together on various projects to enhance the cultural life and environment of the Hudson River Valley. They were co-founders of the Garrison Art Center and Garrison Depot Theater, they fought to save Storm King Mountain from hydroelectric development, and they worked with Pete Seeger to raise funds for the launching of the Sloop Clearwater. When they moved to Red Hook in 1974 they joined the Egbert Benson Historical Society and helped found the Friends of the Elmendorph Inn which purchased and restored that historic landmark, starting in 1977.
Mrs. Bielenberg is survived by: her sister, Mildred (Weil) Hubach of Aurora, Ohio; and three grown children, Kristina Louise Bielenberg of Calais, VT, Carl Norman Bielenberg of Orford, NH, and Reid Robert Bielenberg of Hudson. She also leaves two daughters-in-law, Felicity Lodge and Virginia Tayloe Dow, and four grandchildren in their 20s, Sophia Adele Bielenberg, Heidi Louise Bielenberg, Reid “Cap” Dow Bielenberg and Ames Tayloe Bielenberg.
A Memorial Service in celebration of Mrs. Bielenberg’s life will be held at the Elmendorph Inn, Red Hook, Saturday, March 19 at 2 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Mrs. Bielenberg’s name to Hudson Valley Hospice, Historic Red Hook, Inc., or the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc.

Robert Pulver Bird (1938 – 2015)
PINE PLAINS—Robert Pulver Bird, 77, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at home.
He was born August 3, 1938 in Stanfordville, the son of Walthrop P. and Jenny (Remsberger) Bird.
Mr. Bird was a carpenter and dairy farmer.
Survivors include: a son, Robert O. Bird, Sr. of Pine Plains; three daughters, Jill Wyant of Red Hook, Julie Marecki of Tennessee and Joan Winnie of Rhinebeck; a brother, Don Bird of Stanfordville; a sister, Marge Weaver of Gallatin; six grandsons, Robert O. Bird, Jr., Dylan Bird, Shawn and Darren Wyant, Danny Winnie, Eddie Mareckie; a granddaughter, Jessica Cocchi and a companion, Cathy Bates of Pine Plains.
He was predeceased by a son, Jack Bird in 1998.
Calling hours are Monday, December 7, 2015, 4 to 7 p.m. at Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains.

Arnold “Sonny” Rothvoss (1933 – 2015)
HURLEY—Arnold “Sonny” D. Rothvoss, 82, of Hurley, formerly of Ancramdale, passed away Wednesday December 2, 2015 at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was born August 16, 1933 in Ancram, a son of the late Arnold Rothvoss, Jr. and Minnie (Duntz) Rothvoss Tripp.
A farmer by trade, Mr. Rothvoss also owned and operated his own construction and excavation business. Prior to his retirement he was employed as a truck driver for the Carvel Corporation.
An avid outdoorsmen he enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He loved to travel and was most comfortable driving through the countryside in his 1948 Chevy convertible.
Mr. Rothvoss was a member of the Freedom Church in Binnewater.
Survivors include: his beloved wife, Anna M. (Sutton) Rothvoss of Hurley; his loving children, Bonnie Dykeman (Gordon) of Hudson, Pamela Tamburro (Peter) of Oneida, Arnold Rothvoss, Jr. (Susan) of Ancramdale, Kayla Coumbes of Hurley, Marietta Gardner of Hurley, Scott Coumbes of LaGrange and Kevin Saborski of Hurley.
He also leaves nine grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and two sisters, Shirley Knox (Ernest) of Copake and Sheila Adams (Harry) of Fairfax, VA, along with many extended family members.
He was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Linda Rothvoss.
Friends are invited and may call at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake, Saturday December 5, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m.
Interment will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.

Ray A. Van Hoesen (1930 – 2015)
RHINEBECK—Ray A. Van Hoesen, 85, of Red Hook passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at Northern Dutchess Hospital.
Born May 10, 1930 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Allen and Clarissa (Cady) Van Hoesen.
He was predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Van Hoesen Simpson and a brother, Stanley.
Mr. Van Hoesen married Gloria DiLorenzo May 10, 1952 in Chatham. She survives at home in Red Hook. He graduated from Hudson High School and attended Dutchess Community College in Poughkeepsie.
Mr. Van Hoesen served in New York State National Guard for many years and attained the rank of sergeant. From 1955 until 1987, he was a manager at the Computer Center at IBM in Kingston and was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a charter member of Columbia County Trappers for 35 years; director of NYSTA District 4 East for five years; chairman of NYSTA for 12 years; director of the year in 1997, 1999 and 2002 and representative of the Fur Takers of America for 25 years.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, he is survived by: his children, Ray Van Hoesen, Jr., of Tivoli, Regina (Eric) Thorley of Red Hook, Teresa (Walter) Ulickas of Virginia, Thomas (Jeanne) Van Hoesen of Copake; his grandchildren, Nicole Van Hoesen of Tivoli, Jessica and Evan Ulickas of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a grandson, Walter Ulickas, III. Memorial services will be held Sunday, December 6 at 3 p.m. at the Northern Dutchess Bible Church, 59 Fisk Street, Red Hook. The Reverend Clint Eastman will officiate. Inurnment will be at Vedder’s Cemetery, Gallatin.
