Clarke Morgan, DDS (1934 – 2019)
VALATIE—Clarke Morgan, DDS, 85, passed away at his home in Valatie September 12, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Bethlehem, PA, to Emery and Edith (Gustafson) Morgan, June 26, 1934. He was a man dedicated to his family with great love for God and his country.
He is survived by: his wife of 62 years, Shirley; a son, Tim; a daughter, Kim and her husband Doug; a brother-in-law, Robert Seidel and his wife JoAnne; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, a brother, as well as his daughter, Lisa Marie Morgan, who passed away in 2017.
He graduated from Liberty High School in Bethlehem, PA, and attended Penn State University and Muhlenberg College. On August 10, 1957 he married Shirley Seidel in Allentown, PA. After graduating from Temple University School of Dentistry in 1959 he served in the United States Air Force as a captain in the Dental Corps. In 1962, he and Shirley settled in Columbia County and he began working as a dentist with the Rip Van Winkle Foundation in Canaan. He entered into private practice serving the Chatham community in 1965 and retired in 1998.
A devoted family man, Dr. Morgan enjoyed sharing stories and discussing a variety of topics especially when all were gathered for dinnertime. He shared his love of sports, music, and the natural world with his children and set an example as a kind and thoughtful man. His love of sports and the outdoors began as a young boy. He played baseball, ran track through high school and college and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox and Philadelphia Eagles fan. He enjoyed fly-fishing on the Kinderhook Creek, the Battenkill, and the Ausable River in the Adirondacks. He also traveled several times to Newfoundland, Canada for fishing excursions led by his friend, Al Clements. After retirement, he enjoyed traveling with his wife and spending time with his family. He also valued time spent with friends from Berkshire Cardiac Rehab in Pittsfield, MA.
He was a man of great faith and a member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Valatie. The friendships he made there were a source of great joy for him.
The family appreciates the love, support, and prayers of family and friends over the past year and is grateful for the excellent care provided by Community Hospice.

Funeral services will be at Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street in Valatie, Thursday, September 19, 11 a.m. with Pastor Samantha Perret officiating. There will be an hour of visitation prior to the service, from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Burial will follow at Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery.
Edna C. Card (1926 – 2019)
HUDSON—Edna Card, 93, of Claverack passed away September 11, 2019 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
She was born July 7, 1926, the daughter of Fredericka and David Whitbeck.
She is survived by: her daughter, Shanda Steenburn; son-in-law, Gary Steenburn; her grandchildren, Samantha (Austin) Scaplen and Amara Steenburn of Jonathan, MA.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanford Card.
Mrs. Card graduated from Hudson High School in 1944. Soon after, she began working for the Hudson City School District. After marriage, she and her husband began their life together in Claverack running the Claverack Pump Service. Mrs. Card maintained the bookkeeping and was the friendly voice answering the business phone.
During her spare time, she enjoyed being outside, no matter the season. She was an avid gardener and took pride in maintaining her lawn. She loved playing with any animal especially the family dogs.
Mrs. Card was a long-standing member of the Claverack Reformed Dutch Church. She enjoyed working in the kitchen at the annual church bazaar .
While she will be missed, she is finally reunited with her husband of 69 years.
Viewing and the funeral service were held September 13, 2019 at the Claverack Reformed Dutch Church. Burial followed in the Claverack Reformed Dutch Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Columbia Greene Humane Society.

Mary Ellen Buschman
CONNECTICUT—Mary Ellen Buschman, 67, of Hudson passed peacefully on September 12, 2019 at the Connecticut Hospice after a year-long battle with brain cancer.
She is survived by: her brother, Marc S. Buschman (Cathleen); her rock and love for more than 30 years, Dr. Douglas Lyon of Milford, Connecticut; countless friends and relatives.
Her career included teaching and television news production in Albany and Connecticut. She was the definition of a friend and her humor, love and caring nature will be missed by all. Funeral services will be held Sunday, September 15, 2 p.m. from the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Interment will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.
