Raymond McDarby, Sr. (1928 – 2015)

PHILMONT—Raymond Allen McDarby, Sr., was born March 13, 1928 in Hudson to the late Grace and Ward McDarby, Sr.

He took his last breath Wednesday, November 11, 2015 at the age of 87. He passed peacefully in his sleep at Pine Haven Nursing Home, where he was on Community Hospice.

Mr. McDarby was a sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1950 until 1956. He worked for McCall Refrigerator, Columbia Vendors and was a retiree of the Hudson City Savings Institution and loved by all. He was born and raised in Hudson and also raised his family there.

He is predeceased by: his devoted wife, Shirley (Thomas) McDarby and four brothers, Clifford, Ward, Jr., Donald and Harold.

Mr. McDarby is survived by: his loving sister, Arlene McDarby Brown; four sons and their wives, David and Lauren, Mark and Cathy, Timothy and June and Raymond, Jr., and Sue; eight grandchildren, James (Samantha), Thomas, Elizabeth, Colleen, Kelly, Kaitlin, Jennifer and Jason; many nieces and nephews.

“He will be greatly missed, but his family takes comfort in knowing that he is in the arms of our Lord.”

A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Saturday, November 14 at Holy Trinity Parish, St. Mary’s Church in Hudson. Burial was in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Keith Wood (1951 – 2015)

COLUMBIAVILLE—Keith “Woody” Charles Wood of Columbiaville passed away November 13, 2015 at home. He was born July 13, 1951 in Hudson, the son of the late Richard E., Sr., and Marguerite Wolferstieg Wood.

Mr. Wood is survived by: his aunt, Dorothy Wood Cruise of North Carolina; his brother, Richard E., Jr., of Columbiaville; many cousins; his close friends, Tom Kardash, Mike Hubert and Gerald Jennings.

Family will receive friends Friday, November 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. A religious service will be held at 8 p.m.

Michael T. Gabriel (1934 – 2015)

EAST GREENBUSH—Michael T. Gabriel of East Greenbush died Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Evergreen Commons.

He was born in Stockport in 1934 to the late Joseph and Susan Esposito Gabriel.

He was a member of local #190 construction union and worked as a sales representative for Home Beautifiers of Albany.

He served in the Army from 1956 to 1958. Mr. Gabriel also served as fire commissioner for the Stockport Fire Company.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Theodore Gabriel and Victor Gabriel and brother-in-law, Stanley Gorski.

Mr. Gabriel is survived by: his wife, Ellen M. (Fitzpatrick) Gabriel; one son, Timothy (Anna) Gabriel; one sister, Susan Gorski; one brother, Joseph (Nora) Gabriel; sister-in-law, Angie Gabriel; two grandchildren, Daniel Gabriel and Emily Gabriel; several nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Memorial Mass Tuesday, November 17, 10 a.m. from Church of St. Mary, 163 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer.
