Robert W. McCagg (1989 – 2017)
HUDSON—Robert W. McCagg, 28, of Hudson passed away suddenly at Columbia Memorial Hospital Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
He was born March 3, 1989 to Diane McCrady and the late Robert L. McCagg, Jr.
Mr. McCagg attended St. Patrick’s Academy in Catskill until its closing. He continued on to graduate from Hudson High School in 2008. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family
He is survived by: his son, Tyler McCagg; his mother, Diane McCrady (Michael); brother, Jason McCagg; sister, Jeana Lazzara; grandmother, Betty Hermance; aunts, uncles, cousins and a niece. He was predeceased by his father, Robert McCagg, Jr. and his grandfather, William H. Hermance.
Funeral services will be Monday, November 27, 10 a.m. from the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Visitation at the funeral home will be Sunday from 3 to 6 p.m. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. McCagg’s memory may be made to the Hudson Youth Department or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
William B. Patzwahl (1936 – 2017)
NAPLES, FL—On November 21, 2017 William B. Patzwahl, Jr., passed away peacefully in his sleep at his winter residence in Naples, Florida.
Born in Claverack in 1936 he attended school there and graduated from Hudson High School. After a distinguished 36-year career at IBM, where he worked his way up into manufacturing management, Mr. Patzwahl retired to focus on the Columbia Tent Rentals business, which he established. He was also well-known for his musical talents as the leader of the Patzwahl Trio which played local weddings and events for some four decades. An avid sportsman and hunter, he enjoyed the rural beauty of Columbia County as a lifetime resident.
Mr. Patzwahl will be deeply missed by his family. He leaves behind: his wife of 58 years, Sondra D. Patzwahl (Cukerstein); two sons, David (wife Barbara) and Jeffrey; grandchildren, Sarah Grace, Austin William and Jessica Mary Patzwahl. He was predeceased by: his two brothers, Donald and Carroll Patzwahl, and his parents, William, Sr., and Kate Patzwahl.
Funeral services were Saturday November 25, 2017 from the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Interment was in Claverack Dutch Reformed Church Cemetery.
Angela V. Ferraro (1930 – 2017)
HUDSON—Angela Veronica Ferraro, 87, of Hudson died peacefully Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 16, 1930 to the late Sarah and Augusto Carlucci.
She spent most of her life in Hudson, graduating from Hudson High in 1948. She worked in the produce department of First National Stores for 11 years and in the meat department of ShopRite for 26 years.
Ms. Ferraro enjoyed traveling, having visited numerous states across the country. After retirement, she was a member of the Columbia County Golden Agers and visited family and friends in Italy five times.
She is survived by: her daughter, Maureen (and husband Wayne) Biegel; her son, Joseph Ferraro; her grandchildren, Jason Biegel, Michael Ferraro and Linh Nguyen; her brother, Venanzo Carlucci; sister, Julia (and her husband Ralph) Graziano; her sisters-in-law, Florence Carlucci and Naomi Carlucci; several nieces, nephews and great-grandchildren.
Ms. Ferraro was predeceased by: her son, Louis V. Ferraro; her brothers, Niccola Carlucci and Ronald Carlucci and her sister-in-law, Helen Carlucci.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 25 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Burial was in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.

Preston H. Schrader (1931 – 2017)
ALBANY—Preston H. Schrader of Hudson passed away Thursday, November 16 at the age of 86, due to trauma he suffered in a car accident in the Town of Kinderhook.
Mr. Schrader is survived by: his loving wife of 63 years, Joyce; his daughter, Gina and her husband Bruce; sons, Preston Schrader Jr. and girlfriend Karlene, Bruce Schrader, Thomas Schrader and wife Linda; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Schrader was a lifelong resident of Columbia County. During that time he served his country in the Army Air Corps, 1950 to 1952. He was also a volunteer member of the Hudson Fire Department Washington Hose Firehouse for more than 50 years, a lifelong member of the Hudson Fish & Game Club, and he served Hudson’s second ward as an alderman for eight years. There will be calling hours Tuesday November 28, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. A private burial service, conducted by Pastor Aaron Schultes, will be in Cedar Park Cemetery for the immediate family, Saturday, December 2.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will take place at noon, Saturday following the burial. The ceremony will be held at the Hudson Fish & Game Club. All are welcome to attend.
