Paul J. Masten (1943 – 2020)
GLENS FALLS—Paul J. Masten, 76, of Hudson Falls, formerly of Columbiaville and Hudson, died Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Glens Falls Hospital.
Born November 24, 1943 in Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Arthur and Alida (Hebberd) Masten.
Mr. Masten was a U.S. Army and U.S. Naval Reserves veteran. He owned the former Masten Construction in Hudson and was a life-member and past president of the Stockport Fire Company; a member of the American Legion; Veterans of Foreign Wars; Disabled American Veterans and the Zion Episcopal Church in Hudson Falls.
He is survived by: his wife, Jeanne (Ferguson) Masten; six children, Vicki Munholand of Johnstown, Paul J. Masten, Jr., (Sherri) of Saugerties, Hank Masten of Poughkeepsie, Roxanne House of Johnstown, Allen Masten (Tasha) of Hillsdale and Michael Masten (Richelle) of Craryville; three stepchildren, Michelle St. Dennis of Hudson Falls, Bill St. Dennis and Leigh Harten (Charlie), both of Glen Falls and Marc Austin; a brother, Frank Masten of Kinderhook; a sister, Dorothy Jacobs of Schenectady; 35 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his son, Joseph Masten and siblings, Claire Scheriff, Arthur and Raymond Masten.

John Privratsky (1931 – 2020)
LIVINGSTON—John Privratsky, 88, of Germantown passed away Sunday, February 23, 2020 at Livingston Hills Nursing Center. He was a former resident of Rhinebeck and Poughkeepsie.
Born August 16, 1931 in Vrbovce, Czechoslovakia, he was the son of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Melicharek) Privratsky. He arrived at New York City in 1938 and lived there as a child. He moved to Rhinebeck, when he was 14-years-old and graduated from Rhinebeck High School, class of 1950.
Mr. Privratsky married Dolores Anzelone, the love of his life, June 5, 1955 at St. Peter’s Church in Poughkeepsie. She survives at home.
He served in the U.S. Navy Air Corps during the Korean War as an aircraft radar specialist from 1951 to 1955. Following his honorable discharge from the service, he began his career at the New York Telephone Company as a linesman, advancing to a service specialist and into management. He worked for New York Telephone for more than 30 years, until his retirement in 1985. Following his retirement, he remained active, working as an instructor and salesman specializing in electronics. He also worked as a service technician at the New York Communications Company (NYCOMCO) in Poughkeepsie and at the Baptist Home in Rhinebeck.
Mr. Privratsky was also a member of the Dutchess County Pistol Association during the 1960s. He served as mason at the Shekomeko Lodge in Pleasant Valley, as an active member and master in 1979. He was also a member of the New Paltz Rotary Club and the Poughkeepsie Newyorkers. Once a resident of Columbia County, he became a member of the Germantown Community Choir. He also served as a member and elder for the Reformed Church in Germantown.
In addition to his loving wife of 64 years, he is survived by: his children, Gary (Lucy) Privratsky of Poughkeepsie, Carol (Michael) Wanyo of LaGrange and Janine Privratsky of Poughkeepsie; his grandchildren, Elizabeth (Patrick) Tedaldi of Scarsdale, Eric Wanyo of LaGrange, and Natalie Pritchard of Poughkeepsie; a great-grandchild, Julia Caroline Tedaldi; his stepsister, Elizabeth Barabas of Lawrenceville, GA, along with many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Kristina Moore.

Karen L. Lane (1957 – 2020)
RHINEBECK—Karen L. Lane, 62, a lifelong Red Hook resident, passed away Thursday, February 20, 2020 at Northern Dutchess Hospital.
Born April 19, 1957 in Rhinebeck, she was the daughter of the late Vernon and Barbara (Delage) Coon.
She was a 1976 graduate of Red Hook High School. For many years, she worked in the dietary department at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck. She also worked at Arbor Ridge in Rhinebeck, Historic Village Diner in Red Hook and at the Dollar Tree in Kingston.
Ms. Lane was a longtime member of Red Hook Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and served as president and secretary.
She is survived by: her two sons, Mike (Ambyr) Lane of Red Hook and Terry (Cassandra) Lane, Jr., of Germantown; her loving grandchildren, Dylan Lane, Collyn Lane, Morgan Lane, Danica Lane and Riley Lane; her siblings, Vernon (Debra) Coon, Jr., of Red Hook, Gary (Teresa) Coon of Red Hook, Kevin (Renee) Coon of Hyde Park, Glen (Lynda) Coon, Sr., of Red Hook and Denise (Tom) Mann of Red Hook; along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her parents, a sister, Michele Ann Coon predeceased her.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 South Broadway, Red Hook, Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 3:45 p.m. with the Reverend Fred C. Cartier officiating. Red Hook Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary will conduct services at 7 p.m. Interment will be private at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.

Jodette L. Slier (1953 – 2020)
PHILMONT—Jodette L. Slier, 66, of Philmont passed away at her home peacefully Sunday, February 9, 2020.
Born in Winstead, CT, September 3, 1953, she was the daughter of Rose Ellen (Ackert) Simmons and the late Andrew J. Simmons.
She retired as an LPN and medical coder. She enjoyed her time spent with the Kinder-Hookers wool hooking group. She was predeceased by her first husband, Robert Rosborough.
Survivors include: her son, Robert Rosborough; daughters, Andrea Talmadge, Michelle Tkacy, Shasta Jepson; one sister, Heather O’Keefe; eight grandchildren, Joseph, Erika, Abigail, Madison, Mackenzie, Dana, Casey and Molly; her nieces, Emily and Anna; her nephew, Michael O’Keefe and grand-nieces Payton and Harper. She was predeceased by her brother, Bradley Simmons and sister, Elizabeth Simmons. Memorial services will be announced at a later time.

Edward LaPoint (1944 – 2020)
LIVINGSTON—Edward LaPoint, 75, of Livingston passed away February 22, 2020.
Born in Albany, he was the son of the late Daniel and Marion LaPoint.
He enjoyed bowling in his younger years before his ailments wouldn’t allow it. He was strong-willed and fought kidney and heart disease for many years. Mr. LaPoint was a kind person who always enjoyed a good laugh. He has gone on to join his late twin, Daniel, with whom he shared a special bond. In addition to his parents and brother Daniel he was predeceased by his brother, Thomas LaPoint.
He is survived by: his brother, Barry (Linda) LaPoint; sisters, Linda (George) Luft and Marion LaPoint; his nieces and nephews, Eric and Scott Luft, Danielle Hood and Evan and Brian LaPoint.
