Charlotte L. Martin (1936 – 2019)

WEST LEBANON—Charlotte L. (Erfurt) Martin, 83, passed away at home Saturday, November 16, 2019.

Born in Queens, March 19, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Adolph and Charlotte Witek Erfurt.

In 1941 she and her family moved to from Pennsylvania to Nassau. She was educated at Columbia High School and spent much of her time around the family home as a homemaker. She worked as a short order cook at Pat’s Place in West Lebanon, as a bus driver for New Lebanon Central Schools, and as the director of the summer youth program in New Lebanon since 1985.

Mrs. Martin is survived by: her two children, Wayne Martin of New Lebanon and Marilyn (Daniel) Lefebvre of North Adams, MA; her seven grandchildren, Wayne Houghtling, Jr., Jessica Walden, Angela Saltamartini, Anthony M. Saltamartini, Melissa Flemming, Wayne Martin, Jr., and Rachel Martin; her seven great-grandchildren, Felicity, Sahara, Keegan, Ethan, Connor, Adalie and Jack, and her half-siblings, Anna and Herbert.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband, Walter A. Martin, who passed away in 1996; her brothers, Harold and George Erfurt, and her half-brother, Karl.

Visitation and a funeral service were held November 20, 2019 at the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home, 457 State Route 43, Stephentown.

Charlene B. Sundheim (1948 – 2019)

ALBANY—Charlene Lynn (Bensen) Sundheim, 71, of Hudson passed away November 19, 2019 at Albany Medical Center following a seven-year illness with Multiple Myeloma.

She was born in Keene, New Hampshire, to Harold and Eleanor Bensen August 11, 1948.

She went to Burlington High School and then the University of Vermont, both in Burlington, VT. She earned a bachelor’s degree in English with a concentration in French. She worked as a secretary and bookkeeper for various companies throughout her life. On May 30, 1981, she married Robert W. Sundheim. They later adopted two daughters, Amy and Catherine and raised and supported them throughout their childhood in Hudson.

Mrs. Sundheim is survived by: her mother, Eleanor (Brugge) Bensen of Corinth, VT; her husband, Robert Sundheim of Hudson; her two daughters, Amy Hathway (Bill) of Freeville and Catherine Peck (Jason) of Chatham; a granddaughter, Myla Peck of Chatham; her sibling, Craig Bensen (Deb) of Cambridge, VT; nephew, Ben Bensen (Ilse) of Rock Hill, SC; other sibling, Clark Bensen (Cynthia) of Lake Ridge, VA; nieces, Meredith Calabrese (Mark) of Falls Church, VA and Stafford Bensen (Jeffery Grover) of Somerville, MA.

Mrs. Sundheim was predeceased by her father, Harold Bensen and her niece, Amanda Bensen Fiegl.

A funeral service was held at Clearview Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 275 Schodack Drive, Castleton-on-Hudson, Saturday, November 23, 2019. A memorial service will be held in the summer of 2020 in Speculator.

Joan A. Minkler (1937 – 2019)

VALATIE—Joan A. Minkler, 81, of Valatie passed away Wednesday, November 19, 2019 at her home.

Born December 7, 1937 in Albany, she was the daughter the late Herbert Funk and Frances Isabelle (Cooper) McIntyre. She was an account clerk for the New York State Department of Audit and Control, retiring in 1998. She was a member of the Columbia Memorial Hospital Ladies Auxiliary and the Scarlet Ladies of Kinderhook. She sang with the Sweet Adelines, was an avid bridge player, attended St. Joseph’s Center in Valatie and loved vacationing in Maine with her friends.

She is survived by: her brother, Joseph McIntyre of Valatie; two nieces and a nephew, Jaime McIntyre Richardson of Fort Wayne, IN, Karen and Joseph McIntyre, both of Valatie; three close friends, Joan Salazar, Phyllis Patricelli and Carol Gregg; and 12 great-nieces and -nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Thomas and Herbert McIntyre, Jr.

Funeral services will be held Monday, November 25, noon at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Calling hours will be held Monday, November 25 from 10 a.m. to noon prior to the funeral. Burial will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson. Sarah L. Krupa (1931 – 2019)

PHILMONT—Sarah L. (Rosaria) Krupa, 88, of Greenport passed away peacefully Monday, October 28, 2019 at Pine Haven Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born in Hudson, October 6, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Santo and Giovanna (DiMaria) Gambino.

She was a homemaker and caregiver for many years while also working as a salesperson at the former Montgomery Ward and Sears Roebuck stores.

She will be greatly missed by her loving husband, Joseph; children, Joseph D. (Diane) Krupa, James S. (Lisa) Krupa, Patricia K. (Timothy F.) Scrodin; her grandchildren, Erica (Kyle) Sapkiewicz, Scott, David, Michelle (Josh) Sanders, Ryan and Lauryn; great-grandchildren, Brennan, Sylvia and Audrey. A private graveside memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are with the Sacco Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport.
