Catherine M. Lemoine (1950 – 2021)
HUDSON—Catherine M. Lemoine, age 71, of Chatham died Thursday, November 11, 2021 at Columbia Memorial Hospital. “Cathy” was born in Hackensack, NJ, August 23, 1950 to the late Edward V. Flynn and Mary C. (nee McKenna) Flynn.
She was predeceased by her husband, Paul Lemoine. She is also predeceased by brothers, Jack Flynn, Michael Rock and James Rock, and sisters, Genevieve Clark, Jessie Root, Charlotte Rock, Bernice Pendyke and Maureen Brown.
Mrs. Lemoine is survived by: her daughter, Maeve Lemoine; grandson, Paul, and daughter, Molly Lemoine. She was also “Aunt Cathy” to many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
She was a 1968 graduate of Chatham High School. She was a registered nurse who worked at Barnwell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Valatie for many years. Her true passion was history. In 1982 she received a BA in American history from the University at Albany. She also successfully completed coursework in the SUNY Albany Public History graduate program. Much to her delight, she was hired as an historian, interpreter and reenactor at Crailo State Historic Site where she worked for more than 17 years. In addition to her family and friends, she loved good books, classic movies, the ocean and the dogs and cats her family kept over the years. She had a fabulous sense of humor and continued laughing with friends and her daughters into November. She was much loved and will be sorely missed by her family, friends and co-workers. Private burial services are being arranged by her family.
Patricia M. Rooney (1934 – 2021)
PHILMONT—Patricia Mathew Rooney, 86, of Valatie passed away Sunday, September 26, 2021 at the Pine Haven Home.
Born December 30, 1934 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Frances (Scutt) Mathew.
“Pat” was a personnel clerk for the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles in Albany and ran the payroll office for the New York State Comptroller’s office in Albany.
She was the loving and devoted wife to Edward L. Rooney for 51 years and is survived by 15 nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her siblings, Robert Mathew (Brenda), Susan Taylor (James) and Frances Kennedy.
Funeral services were private for the family.

John A. Heins (1927 – 2021)
PHILMONT—John A. Heins, 94, of Claverack died peacefully Thursday, November 25, 2021 at Pine Haven Home.
Born November 24, 1927 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Henry and Adelaide (Burfeind) Heins.
He was a lifelong dairy farmer and owner of the Heins Crest Farm in Claverack. He was an elder at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Hudson.
He will be greatly missed by his loving family including: his wife, Susan E. (Stock) Heins at home; his son, Chris Heins; many nieces, nephews and cousins as well as the church community. He was predeceased by one sister, Catherine Monthie.
Plans for memorial services plans at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and burial in Mellenville Union Cemetery are incomplete and will be announced. Arrangements are with the Sacco Funeral Home, Greenport.
Alfred J. Musso (1959 – 2021)
PHILMONT—Alfred Jonathan Musso, 62, a native of the Albany-area, passed away Saturday, November 20, 2021 at Pine Haven Home.
Born April 23, 1959 in New Hartford, NY, he was the son of the late Alfred Salvatore and Betty Walker (Timkey) Musso. He was a graduate of Shaker High School and worked for the New York State Retirement System for many years.
He is survived by: three sisters, Margaret Brooks and Anne Musso, both of Valatie, and Laura Moore of Tuolumne, CA.
Funeral services and burial will be private for the family. Arrangements are under the direction of the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.
Laura J.R.D. Quinn (1963 – 2021)
GHENT—It is with profound sadness and the deepest regret that her family announces the loss of their beautiful daughter, sister, mother, wife, aunt and friend, Laura Jean Rice Demmerle Quinn at the age of 58.
“Laurie” transitioned peacefully Monday, November 22 after suffering a catastrophic brain aneurysm at home Sunday. “Our hearts are broken.”
She was born in Syracuse, September 11, 1963 to Carol Breed Rice and the late Steven A. Rice.
In 1998, she moved to Chatham. In June 2000, she married Carl Quinn.
For 18 years she and Carl owned and operated Technology 4 All, Inc., before they closed the business to change careers and focus their attention on those struggling with the devastating effects of substance use disorder, the opioid epidemic, that was impacting friends, loved ones and many in the local community.
She was a champion among a great group of local people behind creating the group Columbia County Pathways To Recovery. She went on to co-found Our Wellness Collective with her friend and business partner, Cortney Lovell. Together, they had a vision to create resources and training curriculum for the recovery community locally and nationally. She trained countless individuals to become certified recovery peer advocates who in turn would help other people battling addiction. They carry on what they learned from her to help save lives every day. She was a true champion of the Harm Reduction Works movement and ran a Tuesday night Family Support group to help other people understand their loved ones’ illness and offer support, compassion, guidance and understanding. People are alive today because of Mrs. Quinn’s love, commitment, dedication and passion for helping others.
She was also a committed Rotarian and believed in the motto of Rotary International that is, “Service Above Self.” She was a past Rotary District 7210 secretary and chaired numerous committees and events for Rotary. She is also responsible for many out-of-control games of Cards Against Humanity at many Rotary conferences. She’d say, “Rotarians are not boring!” Some in Rotary referred to her as the “Queen of Everything and Shenaniganator Extraordinaire.” She loved and cherished her Rotary and Recovery families. She made the selfless decision to be an organ donor. Her gift of life will help many others.
Mrs. Quinn is survived by: her mother, Carol Rice of Syracuse; brother, David Rice of Nedrow; husband, Carl of Ghent; sons, Michael Demmerle of Ghent, Eric Demmerle (Ashley) of Deerfield Beach; her former husband, Douglas Demmerle; stepmother, Barbara Rice of Key Largo; stepsisters, Dawn Barton-Goodnough, Angie Mason; her best friend of 44 years, MaryBeth Carroll Johnson and the entire Quinn family. She will be missed greatly. She was the life of family events and has created many new traditions that the family will carry on in her memory.

Lillian P. Anuska (1936 – 2021)
CHATHAM—Lillian Pulver Anuska passed away peacefully in her home November 23 with her children at her side.
She was the daughter of the late Maude Ogden Pulver and Clyde Pulver, who ran the Pulver Dairy Farm in Chatham.
She is survived by eight of her nine children, Clyde Knott of Caselton, Debbie Wilde (Darrell) of Chatham, Bonnie Knott of Chatham, Ellen Knott of Chatham, Elaine Hyuck (Wayne) of Valatie, Edward Knott (Rebecca) of West Sand Lake, Herbert “John” (Lisa) of Philmont and Lawrence (Mary) of Hudson; two sisters, Roberta Laurange and April Bergman, both of Chatham; several nieces and nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She worked at Pine Haven Nursing Home as a CNA until her retirement in 1995.
She was predeceased by her three husbands, Chester Knott of Stockport, David Decker of Philmont and Chester Anuska of Hudson, and a son, Robert.

Edith J. Menegio (1940 – 2021)
CHATHAM—Edith “Ellen” Jenkins Menegio of Chatham passed away peacefully in the early morning November 19, 2021, dancing to the beat of her own drum, in the light of a lunar eclipse with her son, Robert and daughter, Kristin by her side.
Born January 23, 1940 in Pittsfield, MA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Parke and Helen Solgate Jenkins.
She was a free and adventurous spirit; she enjoyed traveling, yoga retreats, shamanic drumming and hosting parties. Her magnificent gardens, watercolors and pottery were a true expression of her artistic soul. As a voracious reader and lover of words; she read “hundreds of thousands” of books and often joked about being an armchair traveler.
She always had a hunger for knowledge. She was named Chatham High School’s Class of 1957 Valedictorian and awarded a nursing scholarship. She was granted a Bachelor of Arts degree Magna Cum Laude from SUNY Albany. Throughout her professional career she worked as a laboratory phlebotomist and bacteriologist. She retired after 23 years as a tax manager at NYS Tax Department.
She was an independent thinker. From a young age she was passionate about philosophy and spirituality. As a spiritual seeker she spent most of her lifetime gathering “tools” in preparation for her afterlife and reincarnation. She read books including The Tibetan Book of the Living and Dead, The Doors of Perception and The Cosmic Game. In full awareness and with a path mapped out, her journey to the cosmos is sure to be a splendid one.
She is remembered by: her son, Robert and daughter, Kristin; grandchildren, Meagan and Ryan (Amanda); and great-grandchildren, Riggs, Anya and Ryker; sister, Roberta Eigenbrodt; several nieces and nephews; as well as many dear friends. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 47 years, Mario; son, Mark and sisters, Ruth Bostwick and Peggy Kratt.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to Sissy Kopec O’Neil (second daughter), Camphill Ghent, Collaborative Medical Arts, Louis F. Payn Foundation and Community Hospice for their care and compassion.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring, her favorite season.

Bryon E. Faulkner (1961 – 2021)
ALBANY—Bryon Edward Faulkner, 59, of New Lebanon passed away Friday, November 19, 2021 at Albany Medical Center. He was born in Pittsfield, MA, December 30, 1961, the beloved son of Harriet Sears Faulkner of New Lebanon and the late Donald Faulkner.
He was raised and educated in New Lebanon and lived there all of his life. He was very proud of having served his country in the U.S. Army in Germany during the 1980s. He also loved to work and was employed as a welder and fabricator most recently at National Gypsum at the Port of Rensselaer for more than 12 years.
He was an outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing. He also raced his #14 race car at Lebanon Valley Speedway and loved riding his four-wheeler. Most of all, he loved his family.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by: his two sons, Bryon N. (Amanda) Faulkner of Berlin and Tyler M. Faulkner (Amber Burton) of Hancock, MA; four cherished grandchildren, Ally, Mackenzie, Bryer and Remy Faulkner; two brothers, Donald Faulkner of Albany and Doug (Michelle) Faulkner of East Greenbush; his sister, Vicky Hassan of New Lebanon; several cousins, nieces and nephews.
A celebration of his life will be announced at a later date in the near future.

Audrey L. Rousseau (1948 – 2021)
ALBANY—Audrey L. (Beers) Rousseau, 73, of Hudson died peacefully Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Hudson, February 25, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth K. and Nettie (Jackson) Burger.
She was an awning seamstress for many years with Sausbiers Awning Co. Prior to that she was employed by the Lorbrook Corporation and was a driver for NAPA Auto Parts in Hudson. She will be missed by: her husband, Michael Rousseau at home; three sons, Mark Beers, Jeff (Tanya) Beers and Michael Beers; brothers, Kenneth E. Burger, Elwood Burger, Randy Burger and Jimmy Burger; sisters, Sharon Rogers and Donna Decker; grandchildren; nieces and nephews. In addition to her late husband, David W. Beers, who died in 1988, she was predeceased by brothers, Donald Burger and Richard Woods as well as her sister, Glenda Draper. There are no calling hours. Graveside services were held November 29 in Cedar Park Cemetery. Arrangements were with the Sacco Funeral Home, Greenport.
Michael J. Shumsky (1977 – 2021)
GILBERT, AZ—Michael J. Shumsky 44, of Gilbert, AZ, (Maricopa County), died Saturday, November 20, 2021 at his home.
Born January 28, 1977 in Hudson, he was the son of the late James Shumsky, Sr., and Jeanette K. Shumsky of Claverack. He was an avid toy collector and an amazing young man, who was loved by all who knew him.
He was also a great animal lover. In addition to his mother, he will be greatly missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and many-many friends throughout the toy collection community. Reginald J. Crowley (1953 – 2021)
COPAKE FALLS—Reginald J. Crowley, 67, of Copake Falls passed away November 23, 2021 in the comfort of his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born in Albany, December 25, 1953 to the late Joseph and Mary (Franciose) Crowley. Growing up in Philmont, he was a 1972 graduate of Taconic Hills Central School and a 1974 graduate of Mohawk Valley Community College. After a short stay in Colorado, “Reggie” moved back to New York.
He spent the majority of his life in service to the public. From 1977 to 1989 he was a Columbia County deputy sheriff. He then went to work for New York State Office of Parks and Recreation until his retirement. After which, he ran the Columbia County Stop – DWI Program, and was chairman of the New York State Stop – DWI Foundation board. He was also very involved in the Town of Copake: serving as town justice for 14 years, town supervisor for one term, and was the Copake GOP town chairman.
He loved to travel and enjoyed spending his summers with his family at Lakeside Pines Campground in Bridgton, Maine. He enjoyed playing the guitar and listening to music, especially the Beatles. Above all, family was the most important thing in his life and always put his family first.
Mr. Crowley is survived by: his wife of 45 years, Deborah; his two daughters, Regina Shea and Kelly and her husband Josh Kline; his two granddaughters, Summer and Gianna; sister, Denise Melino; half-sister, Toni Crowley; many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Joseph Crowley; sister, Nicholette Booream and his nephew, Ralph Melino.
Visitation time will be Wednesday, December 1, 2021 from 3 to 6 p.m. at Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, Copake. A memorial service will begin at 6 p.m.

Nadine Hajdu (1940 – 2021)
HUDSON—Nadine Hajdu, 81, passed away Tuesday, November 23, 2021. Born May 14, 1940 in Lille, France, she was the daughter of Joseph and Antoinette Natonek.
She and her husband, Janos emigrated to the United States in 1960. Her careers included working for the Lorbrook Corporation and Pine Haven Nursing Home as a certified nursing assistant.
She was an extraordinary wife, mother and grandmother. She was the matriarch of the family, and she will truly be missed. Mrs. Hajdu loved to cook and shared many of her culinary talents with those who wished to learn and enjoy.
Left to cherish her memory are: her husband, Janos Hajdu; daughter, Carol Keil; son, Janos Hajdu; grandchildren, Traver and Hannah Keil, and her adored great-granddaughter, Millyana Rose. She was predeceased by her grandson, Ethan Keil.
Graveside services at Cedar Park Cemetery will be Wednesday, December 1 at 11 a.m. Arrangements are with the Bates and Anderson-Redmond and Keeler Funeral Home, Hudson.
Lawrence O. Proper
ALBANY—Lawrence O. “Larry” Proper, 64, of Copake passed away Monday, November 29, 2021 at Albany Medical Center.

Martin C. Schmitt (2001 – 2021)
CHATHAM—Martin Chase Schmitt, a resident of Chatham, was born March 13, 2001 and passed away November 25, 2021.
He attended high school at Taconic Hills Central School, where he was a member of the soccer, swimming, tennis and baseball teams.
He was also the vice president of the Class of 2019. In both his junior and senior years he was a student at Questar in the aviation program.
He worked for Greenagers alongside his friends for two summers forging new trails in Columbia County. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy; shortly thereafter he attended Hudson Valley Community College where he studied clean energy management. He loved playing trumpet with his “Popa Marty” in the Ghent Band and recently played a duet with him at the West Copake Reformed Church.
He also loved to go fishing with his many friends and his “Popa Pete.” Some of his other favorite pastimes were cooking and hiking with his girlfriend, Jen.
“Marty” was the sweetest, kindest and most loving son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, boyfriend and friend anyone could have asked for. He will be deeply missed and never forgotten by his many friends and family.
He is survived by: his mother, Dana O’Leary; father, Martin Schmitt, Jr., and stepmother, Rebecca Schmitt; his siblings, Willow Day, Lily Schmitt, Christian Schmitt; his niece, Oceana Brown; his grandparents, Marty Schmitt, Sr., Ellen and Peter Davis, and Terry and Jane O’Leary; his uncle, Darren O’Leary and his aunts, Analyn O’leary and Marlene Powers; his cousins, Elliana and Gavin O’Leary and MaryJane and Charlie Fields; the love of his life, Jen Runyon and too many friends to list.

Elijah A. Pollack (2012 – 2021)
ALBANY—Elijah A. Pollack, age 8, went home to the lord, Saturday, November 27, 2021 at Albany Medical Center Pediatrics.
Born December 31, 2012 in Albany, he was the son of Dayna E. Pollack. Elijah attended the Center for Disabilities in Albany and was known for his loving smile. He will be greatly missed by his mother, Dayna Pollack; his brothers, Mikel Bobb and Jordan Bobb; his grandparents, Tom and Cheryl Kappel, Ed Pollack and Allyson Sorge and his many friends throughout Hudson.
Calling hours and memorial services will be held Sunday, December 5, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Sacco Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services will begin at 3 p.m. Officiating will be the Reverend Kathleen Killian, the Reverend John Allison and Deacon Jamison Teale. Memorial contributions are requested in Elijah’s name to the Ronald McDonald House RMHC of the Capital Region or to Make-A-Wish Northeast.
