Morey L. Lampson (1928 – 2015)
HUDSON—Morey L. Lampson, 86, of Kinderhook passed away April 16, 2015.
He was born October 16, 1928 in Leon, the son of Morey Lavell Lampson and Arlene Cooper Lampson.
He graduated from the Griffith Institute Springville, spent three years in the Army Air Corps and graduated from Clarkson College of Technology.
In 1950 he married the love of his life, Patricia Ornstedt Lampson.
He had a long career as an engineer for Corning Glass. He was a loving son, brother, husband, brother-in-law, father and grandfather.
An outdoorsman, sportsman and naturalist, he gave his sons and grandchildren a great appreciation for nature. He had a lifelong love of airplanes and flying. He worked on many airplane restorations and soloed two months before his 70th birthday.
He was an engineer by training and had a natural inclination he could make anything he put his mind to.
Mr. Lampson had a very close relationship with his grandchildren, Kevin and Phoebe. He spent countless hours fishing with Kevin and was a daily presence in Phoebe’s life. He loved family genealogy and spent decades researching his family roots.
He accomplished a great deal in life, but “we will always be grateful for the love and care he gave to our mother during her illness.”
Mr. Lampson was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Patricia. He is survived by: his brother, Edmon Lampson and his wife Louise of Leon; his sons, Morey of Danville, KY, Karl and his wife Sally of Chatham Center and Alan of Burlington, VT; his grandson, Kevin Lampson and his partner Lydia Stamm of Henderson, NC, and granddaughter, Phoebe Lampson of Chatham Center; his sisters-in-law, Johanna Hughes of Duane and Mary Baker of Lake Placid, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be planned for a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

Thomas H. Shea, Jr. (1963 – 2015)
RED ROCK—Thomas H. Shea, Jr., 51, of Red Rock passed away March 17, 2015 at home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born May 31, 1963 in Red Bank, New Jersey, he was the son of the late Thomas H. Shea, Sr., and Bonnie (Calkins) Shea Townsend.
He attended Ichabod Crane Central School and North Country Community College and served four years in the U.S. Navy as a boiler technician aboard the U.S.S. Ponce. Mr. Shea was a long-time employee of Cibro Petroleum in the Port of Albany. He also worked for Hanson Well Drilling in Nassau; Fairbanks Morse in Janesville, Wisconsin; R & R Fresh Fruits and Vegetables in Boca Raton, Florida; the City of Key West, Florida; and most recently, The Shaw Group in Waterford.
He was an outdoorsman who loved hiking and camping. One of his favorite camping spots was on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. His other hobbies included reading, listening to music, cars and driving and cooking.
Surviving are: his daughter, Gillian M. Roach of Arlington, VA; his mother, Bonnie C. Townsend of Ghent; two sisters, April L. Shea of Ghent and Holly B. Shea of Key West, FL; two brothers, N. Jack Townsend, Jr., (Audrey) of West Hills, CA and Scott K. Townsend (Sheri) of Delmar; nieces and nephews including Shea Van Deusen of Ghent, Eliot Shea-Denwood of Key West, FL, Shelby Asher (Kory) of Imperial Beach, CA, Emma Townsend of Rexford and Mackenzie and Alexander Townsend of Delmar.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015, 2 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 12 Woodbridge Avenue, Chatham.

Stella Jarocki (1921 – 2015)
ALBANY—Stella Jarocki, 93, of Claverack died Wednesday, April 22, 2015 at Albany Medical Center.
Born September 22, 1921 in Shady Side, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Ignacy and Agnes (Kostek) Jarocki.
She was also predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Edmund Jarocki; two sisters, Stefania Kazukenus and Stanislawa Jarocki; two infant brothers, Henry and Stanislaw, and her niece, Barbara Kazukenus.
Mrs. Jarocki graduated from Germantown High School, Albany Business College and attended Siena College in Loudonville.
She was employed in the office of Oppenheim & McEwan Wholesale Grocery in Albany, the New York State Department of Commerce and as an income tax examiner for the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance in Albany for 22 years.
Mrs. Jarocki was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson, the Claverack Garden Club, the Sacred Heart Society until 2002, the Golden Agers of Columbia County, and the Hudson Whalers.
Surviving are: her sister, Jennie Kenas of Hudson; nine nieces and nephews, Joanne Endres, Joseph Kenas, Paul Kenas, Teresa Kenas, Michele Archambeault, Susan Coates, Andrew Kazukenus, Peter Kazukenus and Lorraine Hahn; 18 grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, April 26, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Prayers will be held Monday, April 27, 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Church in Hudson. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Jeanette Grimes (1922 – 2015)
KINGSTON—Jeanette Grimes of Nancy Theresa Terrace, Albany was introduced to this world January 28, 1922 and “was escorted home Wednesday, April 22, 2015 by God’s Archangel” at Health Alliance Hospital.
Following a period of declining strength and health, her body gave out but her mind remained active.
A new life had just begun in Chatham for the late William and Cora (Jackson) VanNess, “all of God’s grace in one little face was born, a beautiful baby girl, Jeanette VanNess.”
Mrs. Grimes had an unwavering faith in God, was a consummate, devoted, devout, faithful, God-fearing Christian mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who loved her family, her church, her community and served them all faithfully during her lifetime. A prominent pillar of the Payne AME Church for many years, Mrs. Grimes served as a “virtuous Mother of the Church.” She was a shining example of humility and respect.
September 26, 1942, Mrs. Grimes married the love of her life, the late Guy L. Grimes. To this union eight “intellectual, positive, flexible, responsible, dedicated, loving” daughters were born.
She leaves to cherish her sweet spirit and loving memories: Jeanette (Curtis) Johnson, Gayle (Ronald) Johnson, Dawn (William) Singletary, Bonita Johnson, Josephine Grimes (Cora), Linda (Warren) VanAlstyne, Rhonda (Lawrence) Johnson and Kim Grimes.
She is remembered and loved by 22 “intelligent, loveable affectionate and considerate” grandchildren; 48 “adorning” great-grandchildren; 19 “little snuggle-bunny” great-great -grandchildren; one brother, William VanNess (Selma); one sister, Myrtle Bradford and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and the Payne AME Church family.
Seldom has God given so much to many people through one woman. She remained faithful to her family until called home for her reward. Her daughter, Josephine and Cora lovingly cared for her the last eight years of her life. The family gives them their greatest gratitude.
Mrs. Grimes was predeceased by her husband, Guy; parents, William and Cora (Jackson) VanNess; four brothers, Harold, Lawrence, Donald and Charles VanNess; four sisters, Shirley Johnson, Harriet Britto, Mary Grimes, and Carrie Benson; one grandson, Joseph Gordon Johnson.
Mrs. Grimes’ spiritual values guided her from youth and through her final days. She trusted God for all of her needs, lived in constant prayer and kept her faith through many sorrows and difficulties. Though she did not consider herself to be a perfect person, she remains an inspiration and example to family and friends. She went peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She lived a life wrapped in the love of Jesus. Remember her now as healed and reunited with her husband and the other loved ones who have gone before.
