Benjamin Eli Kaufmann (1981 – 2014)

CHATHAM—Benjamin Eli Kaufmann 33 of Chatham died August 25 in Chatham.

He was born August 6, 1981 in Spring Green, Wisconsin, the son of Peter J. and Hildi (Schwade) Kaufmann both of Chatham.

He attended the Hawthorne Valley School and graduated from Chatham High School in the class of 2000. He attended the University of Massachusetts and transferred to the University at Albany where he graduated with a BS in pre-med.

While attending medical school at the University of Virginia he sustained severe injuries in an accident and came home to Chatham for rehabilitation.

Mr. Kaufmann had a great passion for family, nature, gardening and especially baseball.

Besides his parents Peter and Hildi, he is survived by his brother, Joshua of Philmont and many cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Robyn and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A funeral service was held Sunday, August 31 from the Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham. Interment followed in the Harlemville Cemetery. For those who wish, memorials may be made to the Chatham Little League, P.O. Box 340 Ghent 12075. For online condolences visit wenkfuneralhome.com.

Kevin J. Tiano, Sr. (1963 – 2014)

HUDSON—Kevin J. Tiano, 51, of Hudson, a lifelong resident, died Thursday August 28 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born in Hudson on January 16, 1963, he was the son of the late Charles and Marjorie (Hamm) Tiano.

Mr. Tiano was a maintenance worker at Columbia-Greene Community College for more than 15 years. He was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Hudson and was a big Steelers fan.

He will be greatly missed by: his son, Kevin J. Tiano, Jr., of Tennessee; brothers, Charles Michael and (Dawne) Tiano and Paul Rowley; sisters, Pamela and (Richard) Otty, April Rowley, Patricia and (Stan) Rutkey, Linda and (Pat) Hogan, Mary Weaver, Bonnie Kritzman; several aunts; uncles; cousins; beloved nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Wednesday, September 3, 2014 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services will follow at 6 p.m. with Deacon Rick Washburn officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery at a later date. Following the services, family and friends will gather at the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge on Town Hall Drive.
