Claudia Israel (1964 – 2019)

ALBANY—Claudia Israel, 54, of Stuyvesant died Thursday, January 31, 2019 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn.

Born March 24, 1964 in Germany, she was the daughter of Bruno Israel of Kinderhook and the late Barbara (Prinz) Israel.

Ms. Israel was a social worker for Samaritan Hospital in Troy.

She is survived by her sister, Andrea Israel of Stuyvesant.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Arrangements were with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

Dorothy E. Mesick (1925 – 2019)

SEBRING, FL—Dorothy E. Mesick passed away January 11, 2019 at the age of 93.

Born April 15, 1925, she was the daughter of Leila and Charles Jacobia; sister of Kenneth and Arthur, and widow of Harry Mesick, all previously deceased.

She is survived by her son, Rodney Mesick.

Mrs. Mesick worked most of her life as a bookkeeper and for 19 ½ years was assessor for the Town of Chatham.

In 2006, Mrs. Mesick and her son moved to Sebring, FL.

She will be sorely missed.

Interment will be in the spring.

Arrangements were with the ICS Cremation Society, Inc.

Joseph H. Brightly (1936 – 2019)

TAGHKANIC—Joseph H. Brightly, 82, of Taghkanic passed away peacefully at his residence Thursday, February 21, 2019 in the presence of his loving family.

He was born May 7, 1936 in Livingston, a son of the late Walter and Margaret (Svingala) Brightly.

He was employed by Almstead Excavating as a heavy equipment operator and was also a talented small-engine repair specialist.

He was a support member of the Taghkanic Volunteer Fire Company and was also a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Florida, where he spent his winters. In his younger days, Mr. Brightly enjoyed hunting and fishing and the great outdoors. In his later years, he participated in dancing and Zumba, listening to music, attending auctions and flea markets and an occasional trip to Hooters for Buffalo wings.

On February 15, 1958, he married Shirley (Chappel) Brightly, she predeceased him in 2006.

He is survived by: his daughter, Cindy Lu Brightly of Pittsfield, MA; two granddaughters, Ashley Marie Hilscher of Tempe, AZ, and Laura Cains of Fayetteville, NC; a sister, Delia “Bunny” Bjercke of Jefferson; a sister-in-law, Jackie Brightly of Ancram; along with many nieces and nephews.

Along with his wife, he was predeceased by his siblings, Walter, George, Margaret and Timothy.

Friends are invited and may call Monday, February 25, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22 in Copake.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 26, 2019, 10 a.m. from the Parish of Our Lady of Hope, 8074 Route 22 in Copake Falls. Interment will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Taghkanic Volunteer Fire Company, 631 Old Route 22, Taghkanic 12521.
