Ronald L. Hinkel (1947 – 2019)
STUYVESANT—Ronald Leroy Hinkel, 72, of Stuyvesant passed away Friday, September 20, 2019, surrounded by his family and friends, after a battle with cancer.
He was born in Hudson, July 5, 1947, the son of Anita (Sweet) Hinkel and the late Floyd Hinkel.
Mr. Hinkel is survived by: his mother; four sisters, Jeanne, Diana, Susan and Debbie; three daughters, Kristin and Libby Hinkel and Danielle Martin; four grandchildren, Christian Hall, Ayden Hinkel-Newkirk and Breonna and Cody Libby; many nieces and nephews; his wife, Christine (Baker); stepson, Michael and granddaughter, Genevieve Christaldi.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of Vietnam and was a member of the Stuyvesant Falls VFW Post 9593, where he served as a past commander.
His real joy was riding his bike and being a member of the East Coast Riders (ECR), in which he held the title of Road Captain. One of his favorite ECR events was playing the role of Santa.
Mr. Hinkel also loved spending time at Stewart’s, which he called his “office,” where he sat with his friends and “solved the world’s problems.”
From the time he was a child, he had a special love for cars. There were many times he would go to work in one car and come home in another. He loved life and loved spending time with family and friends telling jokes and stories from his younger years.
The family thanks the East Coast Riders and his many friends for the support and love they provided to Mr. Hinkel and his family during his illness. They also thank the staff at Dana Farber Cancer Institute for their kindness and extraordinary care, especially his doctor, Nadine; his favorite PA, Kathleen; and his nurse, Katie.
Burial will be Friday, September 27, 10:30 a.m. at Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery in Saratoga. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, September 28, 1 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Route 26A, Stuyvesant. John W. Buccheri (1933 – 2019)
HUDSON—John W. Buccheri, 86, of Germantown passed away September 21, 2019.
Born April 7, 1933 in Mount Vernon, he was the son of Guiseppe and Nunzia (Salerno) Buccheri.
He was an auto service technician for Buccheri Motors in Mount Vernon. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955 during the Korean War. He was a life member and former captain of the Mount Vernon Fire Department, and also served with the Croton Falls Fire Department.
Mr. Buccheri leaves to cherish his memory: his wife and love of his life for 64 years, Lillian (Hengel) Buccheri; his four children, Greg (Yvonne) Buccheri, Diane Buccheri Mazza, Lori (Mike) Buccheri Stevens and Gayle Buccheri; 11 grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Michael, Shaun, Lilly, Tommie, Jesse, Bryan, Jamie, Rachel, Taylor and Nick; along with four great-grandchildren, Lucas and Tessa Keller, Scarlett Stevens and Letty Rose Mazza.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, Netti Buccheri Burdi, Joseph, Louis, Nicholas and William Buccheri.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated September 24 from the Church of St. Joseph, Stottville Parish. Burial with military honors will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Robert M. Bartolomeo, Sr. (1941 – 2019)
PINE PLAINS—Robert M. “Bobby” Bartolomeo, Sr., 77, of Pine Plains passed away peacefully at home September 16, 2019.
He was the co-owner/operator of West End Automotive in Pine Plains and retired in 2004. He spent more than 40 years working in the family business, where he did auto repairs and pumped gas for their many customers, always with good humor and a smile for everyone who drove in.
Mr. Bartolomeo was a loving son of Italian immigrants Rosina (Flamino) and Frank Bartolomeo. He was born in the Bronx, December 5, 1941 and grew up in Pine Plains.
He was an avid sportsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and being outdoors.
He was well-known as a competition skeet shooter and was a member of the Sheffield Rod and Gun Club for more than 30 years. He was a longtime member of the Millerton Gun Club as well as a life member of the NRA.
Among his many interests were drag racing and following the NHRA drag racing circuit. His children were greatly influenced by his interests and have followed in his footsteps in his passions of automotive repairs, racing, hunting, fishing and enjoying outdoor sports.
Mr. Bartolomeo will be greatly missed by: his sons, Bruce Bartolomeo and his companion, Bambi of Ancramdale and Robert M. Bartolomeo Jr. of Modena; his daughter, Lizetta Bartolomeo of Hyde Park; his companion of 34 years, Eileen Ciaburri, who survives at home; his brothers, Joseph and his companion Marie, Richard and his wife Marion, William and his wife Dawn, all of Pine Plains, and Charles and his wife Laurel of Sullivan, Maine; his sister, Celia Bartolomeo of Pine Plains; his grandson, Robert Bartolomeo, III, of Modena; his granddaughter, Melissa of Ancram; many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Gino “Peter” Bartolomeo and Francis Bartolomeo.
A celebration of his life will be held at the Pine Plains Lions Club, Saturday, October 12 at 1 p.m. All his many friends and family are invited to attend and share their memories.

Frank F. Cappozzo (1923 – 2019)
CHATHAM—Frank F. Cappozzo, 96, of Chatham died peacefully Monday, September 23, 2019.
Born in Chatham, September 3, 1923, he was the son of the late Fred Cappozzo and Maddalena Darne Cappozzo.
He was a graduate of Christian Brothers Academy and Syracuse University.
As a young man, Mr. Cappozzo was an avid hunter and archer. He owned and operated Cappozzo’s Store in Chatham for many years until 1984. After closing the store, he spent several years as a tour guide at Lindenwald in Kinderhook.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 42 and the Sanford W. Smith Hook & Ladder Company and a past member of the Chatham Rod & Gun Club. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a crew member of the B-29 Ninth Bombardment Group stationed in the South Pacific. In 1945 Mr. Cappozzo was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for “extraordinary achievement while participating in an aerial flight” in the Mariana Islands. He also earned the Air Medal with four clusters, the Good Conduct Medal and the Asiatic-Pacific ribbon with two stars.
He was predeceased by his wife, Rose (Koller) Cappozzo and his daughter, Sharon E. Fredericks. He is survived by: his sons Frank D. Cappozzo and Fred J. Cappozzo; son-in-law, Peter Fredericks; grandchildren, Stacey Bean (Trevor), Jocelyn Cappozzo, Glen Cappozzo (Danielle), Lindsay Cappozzo, Matthew Fredericks, Sydney Fredericks and Samuel Fredericks; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his good friend, Barbara Gleichauf.
The family thanks Mr. Cappozzo’s longtime caregivers, Laurie Johnson, Alyssa Cascante and Janelle Moran, as well as the Veteran’s Administration Home Team and the Columbia-Greene Hospice Team.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with his family Monday, September 30 from noon to 1:30 p.m. at Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, Chatham. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. followed by interment in the St. James Cemetery, Ghent.

Rosalie I. Russell (1939 – 2019)
HUDSON—Rosalie I. Russell, 80, of Hillsdale, recently of Philmont, died Saturday, September 21, 2019 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born in Hudson, March 13, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Leon and Margaret (Miller) Sigler. She was predeceased by her husband, William Harvey Russell, Sr.
Mrs. Russell was a life member of the Philmont United Methodist Church and was a member of the Young-At-Hearters. She enjoyed her time singing in the choir at Pine Haven Nursing Home.
She is survived by her loving family including: daughters and sons, Kim (Edward) Hilton, Kelly Russell (Ed Smith), William (Sandra) Russell, Michael Russell, Brian Russell (Brittany Hay); brothers, Bradley, Martin and Howard Sigler; 12 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Lowell, Norman and Adrian Sigler.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, September 25, 2019 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sacco Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 26, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ken Coddington officiating. Burial will follow in Mellenville Union Cemetery.
