Dawnald R. Henderson (1931 – 2019)
OLD CHATHAM—Dawnald Raymond Henderson of Old Chatham, beloved husband of Maria A. Anastasi, passed away March 12, 2019 at the age of 87.
He was born in Roxbury, MA, and graduated from Boston College and the New York University School of Law.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by his sister, Judith Walker and multiple family members.
An Army veteran and Fulbright scholar, Mr. Henderson started his law career working for then Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy as a U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York. He went on to a long career as an attorney for Columbia Records and a vice president of Legal Affairs at Children’s Television Workshop. He will be dearly missed by everyone who has had the pleasure and privilege of knowing him.
Mr. Henderson was predeceased by Roy and May Henderson; and his brothers, Roy G. Henderson, Henry W. Henderson and John R. Henderson.
A private viewing was held March 18 at the Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham, and a memorial Mass was held March 19 at St. James Church in Chatham, followed by a gathering at the church. There will also be a memorial service in Boston later this year. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the CityKids Foundation Inc. or the Special Olympics.
Flora M. Terracciano (1924 – 2019)
CHATHAM—Flora Mary Terracciano of Chatham passed away March 14, 2019.
She was born in Chatham November 12, 1924, the daughter of the late Anthony and Anna Ordiano Terracciano.
She is survived by nine nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by brothers, Joseph and James Terracciano and sisters, Angeline (Julie) Quirino and Antonetta (Ann) DiLeo and niece, Carol Worden.
Ms. Terracciano attended Chatham High School.
She worked as a seamstress at Jones Manufacturing and later at Sonoco Crellins in Chatham. She enjoyed reading, playing cards and spending time with her many nieces and nephews.
She was a communicant of St. James Church.
Family will receive friends Thursday, March 28 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. James Church, Friday, March 29 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow at St. James Cemetery. Shirley R. Hildebrandt (1928 – 2019)
ALBANY—Shirley Ruth (Mills) Hildebrandt, 90, went to be with her lord and savior March 13, 2019.
She was born in Hazel, September 29, 1928. She was a long-time resident of Binghamton and Vestal, where she raised her family and worked at Olum’s Furniture Company. Her best life was lived in Newport, NC, working for Lock-It Storage from which she retired. Mrs. Hildebrandt was most recently a resident at Rouse senior living apartments in North Greenbush.
She spent the brightest years of her life with her Red Hats group, Joy Club, her water aerobics and Silver Sneakers groups at the Cape Carteret Aquatic and Wellness Center, which brought much joy and love to her life.
She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, Robert Louis Hildebrandt. They were long-time members of the Cornerstone Gospel Baptist Church in Newport, NC.
She is survived by: her two children, Ken (Sonya) Hildebrandt of Vestal and Karen (George) Longworth of Niverville; the joy of her life, her grandchildren, Stephanie Cramer of Buffalo, Abigail Cramer of Macon, GA, Irena Longworth of Burnt Hills and Travis Longworth of Niverville.
Mrs. Hildebrandt’s family thanks the CNA group on the fifth floor at St. Peter’s Hospital for their wonderful kindness and care during the month of February. The staff at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital treated her with compassion and dignity in her last days.
A graveside service will be held March 22, 2019, noon at the Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville, NC. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her name to the Cornerstone Gospel Baptist Church, 2896 Highway 24 Suite D Newport, NC 28570

Kathleen A. Hoffert (1952 – 2019)
ALBANY—Kathleen Ann (Graffam) Hoffert returned to her maker March 15, 2019. She died of a brief illness at the Albany Medical Center Hospital surrounded by her children.
She was born March 8, 1952 at Brooklyn Memorial Hospital, the daughter of William Graffam, Sr., and Ellen Cullen Dedrick.
She grew up in the Hyde Park area and attended Roosevelt High School and Columbia-Greene Community College.
She was employed as a medical assistant in several practices but worked for more than 18 years as a nuclear medicine technology assistant at Capital Cardiology Associates.
There she helped and supported many anxious patients endure stress testing… her humor and goodwill was always there to calm their anxiety.
Ms. Hoffert is survived by: her three children, Curtis (Jennifer Newhouse), Amanda (Jason Bean), Jerome (Brittany); the lights of her life, her grandchildren, Kent Lehmann, Isaac and Brenna Bean and Baby Hoffert.
Her siblings include, Gail Hulle (Carl), Ellen Morone (Dick), William Graffam, Jr., Deborah Badger (Phil), Sandi O’Conner (Stephen), Noreen Greco (Joe), Mark Graffam (Julie), and Ronnie Graffam as well as many nieces and nephews. She maintained a very close and loving relationship with her Hoffert relatives and in truth every person, friend or family, who came into her life. She was predeceased by her parents and her step-father, Earl Dedrick.
Ms. Hoffert enjoyed hosting and entertaining as many people as possible, traveling, reading, concerts and a glass of wine now and then. But her favorite times were the simplest: playing with and spoiling the grandchildren she adored; sitting around a bonfire listening to her sons play guitar; her weekly get-togethers with close friends and family; and seeing all of the “kids” to whom she was a second mother.
Ms. Hoffert was an active volunteer for Sean’s Run for many years, a cause very near and dear to her heart. Her family asks that in lieu of flowers, charitable donations be made to Sean’s Run, 96 Metz Road, Ghent 12075.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. James Roman Catholic Church, 117 Hudson Avenue, Chatham, Wednesday, March 20, 2019, 9:30 a.m. followed by interment at St. James Cemetery in Ghent. A reception follows.

Joan S.W. Seftner (1928 – 2019)
VALATIE—Joan S. Walker Seftner passed away March 15, 2019.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jack Walker and Elsie Unger Walker.
She was the sister of Cristine Jamison and of the late Johnny Walker and the beloved wife of the late Joseph E. Seftner.
She is survived by: her four children, Joe (Karen) Seftner, Lynn Seftner, Matt (Lydia) Seftner, Chris (Jody) Seftner; her grandchildren, Scott, Taylor, Matthew, Michael, Kayla, Shane and Liam Seftner and Jonathan Bishop. She was blessed by the friendship of many wonderful people including her best friend of more than 60 years, Arlette Sauzet Parini, Carole McCrea and Eileen McCrea Andreoli, Mari, Bill and Alexandra O’Keefe and Ellen Guarino. She loved the many pets in her life from childhood on including: Miss Grey, Snuffy, Mr. Pud, Max and Rusty.
Mrs. Seftner graduated from Mamaroneck High School and the Barbizon School of Modeling. She was very proud to have been a runner-up in the Miss Westchester contest. After raising her family in Rye, she rejoined the workforce at a Hallmark store, then Continental Baking and Mutual of Omaha Insurance.
With her adored and doting husband, she enjoyed family life, and trips to Bolton Landing and Rhode Island where Mr. Seftner would fish while she read one of her many favorite mysteries, especially by Agatha Christie. Theirs was a true romance of “the Greatest Generation.” They were one of those couples that held hands through their entire life together like teenagers on a first date. Mrs. Seftner loved to quote a line from a Frank Sinatra song “for every Joe there’s a Joan”.
Which is why, besides her husband, the greatest love of her life was Frank Sinatra, as evident by her vast collection of Sinatra memorabilia and record albums. Soon after she and her husband retired, Mrs. Seftner fulfilled a lifelong dream by seeing him in concert at the Times Union Center. She also loved her tag sales, the Andy Griffith Show, testing her vast trivia knowledge watching Jeopardy, antiques, going to concerts, a delicious hot cup of coffee and a cinnamon bun, traveling with her friends, breakfast at the local diner, and sharing memories of family stories or the many celebrities she managed to meet in her lifetime. She was never without her lipstick, and had a focus on fashion to the end of her life.
A graveside service for family and close friends was at Greenwood Union Cemetery in Rye, March 19. Calling hours will be at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street (Route 9), Valatie, March 20 from 2 to 4 p.m. with a memorial service at 4 p.m. Donations in her memory may be made to the Capital District Rescue Mission, 259 South Pearl Street, Albany 12202 and/or the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson, 12534. Another way to remember her would be to give a Hershey bar, one of her other great loves, to someone who could use a sweet treat today.
Roseann L. Crispino (1939 – 2019)
ALBANY—Roseann L. Crispino of Stuyvesant died peacefully in the company of her loving family Friday, March 15, 2019 at St. Peters Nursing and Rehabilitation.
Born August 26, 1939 in Castleton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Flavia (Scott) Piccola.
A homemaker, she worked for 18 years at L&B Products in Hudson. She was a communicant of the Church of St. Joseph in Stuyvesant Falls. Mrs. Crispino was the widow of the late Dominick J. Crispino, who died in 2009.
She will be greatly missed by her family, including sons: James Crispino of Cohoes, Mark Crispino of Stuyvesant; daughter, Diana and (Dan) Futia of Stuyvesant; grandchildren, Michael (Alissa) Crispino, Ashley (Michael) Sgroi, Allison Futia and Brittany Futia; six great-grandchildren, Simone, Michael, Leona, August, Xander and Eliana; nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved Pug, “Becca.”
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Crispino was predeceased by her brother, Frank Piccola and sisters, Mary Clouse and Betty Gardner.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday, March 20, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 21, 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Joseph, Stuyvesant Falls. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Stuyvesant Falls. Rosemarie G. Moon (1930 – 2019)
HUDSON—Rosemarie Grandinetti Moon “Putty” passed away peacefully March 11, 2018, at the age of 88, lovingly surrounded by her family.
She was born in Hudson, October 16, 1930 to parents Angelo and Rose Margaret (Bucci) Grandinetti. She weighed a robust 13 lbs. and was affectionately nicknamed “Putsky” by her grandfather, Antonio Bucci. She would live the rest of her life affectionately known as “Putty.”
In 1948 she graduated from Hudson High School, where she participated in cheerleading, dance club and earned recognition as the shortest member of her senior class.
Mrs. Moon had various secretarial and bookkeeping jobs, including helping her grandfather, Mr. Bucci collect rent money from local Hudson residences. In 1951, she began working for the Columbia County Alcohol Beverage Control Board (ABC) in Hudson. She retired from the ABC Board in 1966 to raise Maria and Chip.
Mrs. Moon is survived by: her beloved daughter, Maria G. Moon; son, Roland F. (Chip) Moon, Jr., (Peggy); grandsons, Joshua, Jackson and Jordan Moon; her sister-in-law, Gail Grandinetti and brother-in-law, Harry Soule.
Mrs. Moon was predeceased by her husband of 38 years, Roland Floyd Moon, Sr.; sisters, Concetta (Donald) Baker, Philomena (Robert) Dixon, Francis (Harry) Soule and brother John (Gail) Grandinetti.
She is also survived by: her nephews and nieces, Donna (Baker) and Tom Bonville, Dale (Susan) Baker, James, Kevin and David Dolan, Lynn (Dolan) and Edward Pawluk, Timothy (Heidi) Grandinetti, Daniel (Karen) Grandinetti, Thomas (Sarah) Grandinetti and John (Krista) Grandinetti, Robert (Martha) Dixon, III, James (Kelly) Dixon, Rosemary (Dixon) Brown; many great-nephews and nieces.
Mrs. Moon was a woman of Christian faith, generous, thoughtful and polite. She loved spending time with and taking care of her family. Her red sauce and pasta dishes were favorites among many. She took pride in taking care of the house she built in 1959 while caring for her mother, Rose M. Bucci.
Mrs. Moon loved decorating, cooking, gardening, art and music. Her love of music was given to her children as she supported any and all their expressed creative interests. She would later enjoy the gift of grandchildren (Joshua, Jackson and Jordan) to whom she devoted much of her time. She possessed a remarkable memory comprised of people, places and things. Her home was immaculate, her lawn and gardens pristine.
On Mrs. Moon’s behalf, the family recognizes the staff of Columbia Memorial Hospital’s 4th Floor for their outstanding care and compassion.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Hudson, Saturday, March 23, 2019 at 10 a.m.
Dorothy E. Hunt (1936 – 2019)
HUDSON—Dorothy Elaine Hunt, 82, passed away peacefully March 18, 2019 at home.
She was born in Jamaica, and then immigrated to the United States, where she lived in New York City. She worked most of her career in retail, and then co-owned an auto parts store. She was an extremely hard-working woman, who was also very dedicated to her family. She found enjoyment in listening to music, especially jazz. Some of her favorite artists were Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and Herbie Hancock.
Ms. Hunt is survived by: her three children, Maurice (Maryna) Haughton, Roger (Marcia) Tavares and Angela Haughton; her nine grandchildren, Irina Haughton, Jiani, Alyana, Tahjana and Arianne Tavares and Tristan Haughton-Scott, Sean Haughton-Scott, Kristopher Haughton-Felix and David Haughton-Morris.
A funeral Mass will be celebrated Sunday, March 24, 2019 at 3 p.m. from Christ Church Episcopal, 431 Union Street, Hudson. Visitation will also be Sunday, noon to 2 p.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Leon Hales, Jr. (1926 – 2019)
RHINEBECK—Leon Hales, Jr., 92, a longtime resident of Milan, NY, passed away Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Baptist Nursing Home.
Born April 30, 1926, in Rochester, he was the son of the late Leon and Elsie (Hornbeck) Hales, Sr.
He married Lucille Rockwell November 24, 1949 in Walden. She predeceased him September 27, 2015.
Mr. Hales served in the United States Navy during World War II from 1944 to 1946.
For many years, and until his retirement, he worked as a quality control inspector, employed by IBM-Poughkeepsie. He was a member of their Quarter-Century Club.
Mr. Hales is survived by: his sons, David (Fumiko) Hales of New York City and Robert (Cora) Hales of Germantown; his grandchildren, Johnathan Hales of New York City, Ayaka Hales of Hudson and Aurora Hales of Hudson, along with extended family and friends.
His siblings, Lillian, Carol and Leonard, also predeceased him.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 27, 2019, 11 a.m. at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 South Broadway, Red Hook. Interment will follow in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
