Paul Gerber (1937 – 2015)
HUDSON—Paul F. Gerber, 77, of Ghent passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born December 25, 1937 in Rochester, he was the son of the late Paul A. and Sophie (Aichele) Gerber.
Mr. Gerber served in the U.S. Army from 1957 to 1960. He was employed in the administration department at Taconic Telephone in Chatham for more than 40 years.
He had a private pilot license for many years, loved going to the movies, enjoyed playing chess, was very well read and had a keen interest in the unexplained. He was also a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
Surviving are: his wife, Virginia (Van Vliet) Gerber; four children, Paul R. Gerber, Jennifer Jennings, Lee Gerber, and Vincent Gerber; his brother, Ronald C. Gerber; seven grandchildren, Melissa, Matthew, Tanner, Amanda, Nicholas, Brittney and Lance; several nieces and nephews.
Services are private.

Sylvester W. Braswell (1938 – 2015)
ALBANY—Sylvester W. Braswell, 76, of Valatie died March 18, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born July 2, 1938 in Queens, he was the son of the late James L. and Ethel (Veitch) Braswell.
Mr. Braswell worked for Grumman Corporation in the space program and as a civil engineer for the Department of Environmental Conservation in Albany for more than 30 years.
He is survived by his wife: Margaret (Marra) Braswell; his daughter, Anne Pierce (Paul) of Buffalo; his son, Sy Braswell (Kelly) of Valatie; a sister, Phyllis O’Brien of Pittsburgh, PA; four grandchildren, Colin and Maeve Braswell, Haley and Chris Pierce; seven nieces and one nephew.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. There will be no calling hours. For those who wish, contributions may be made to the American Lung Association, 418 Broadway first floor, Albany 12207.
