Jean M. Gazzera (1929 – 2016)
HUDSON—Jean M. Gazzera, 87, of Hudson passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at her residence.
Born January 24, 1929 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Edwin and Madge (Petsel) Folz.
Mrs. Gazzera graduated from Hudson High School in 1946. She was a former secretary for the law firm of Wilson and Conner, also Columbia County Attorney John N. McLaren and a part-time secretary for 10 years for the Potts Memorial Foundation Tuberculosis Eradication Program.
Mrs. Gazzera was a former member of the Hudson Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary, a member of Disabled American Veterans Auxilliary, a former board member for the Home For The Aged, and a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson.
Surviving are: her son and daughter-in-law, David and Amparo Gazzera; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Patrick Murray; five grandchildren, David A. Gazzera, Andres Gazzera, Nicole Gazzera, Tara J. (Timothy) Propst and Lauren A. Murray; two great-grandsons, Brady and Evan Propst; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Fred Gazzera and two brothers, John P. Folz and Edwin D. Folz.
Visiting hours are Friday, April 8, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Saturday, April 9, 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson. Interment will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Richard J. Cleary, Jr.
ALBANY—Richard J. Cleary, Jr., 55, of Stockport, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2016 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
He was born in Albany and grew up in East Greenbush. He attended East Greenbush Schools.
Mr. Cleary had a lifelong interest in education, attaining a graduate degree in guidance and counseling from Sage Graduate School. He served as a correction officer until his retirement after 25 years.
After his retirement, he worked at Siena College as a public safety officer. He was a certified scuba diver and a Black Belt in Karate. He enjoyed reading, fitness and spending time with his family.
Mr. Cleary is survived by: his wife, Judith Cleary; his daughter, Jennifer Cleary; his son, Steven Cleary; his wonderful in-laws, Mary and Cecil Ryman, Marylou and Robert Bailly and Michael and Lisa Ryman; three nieces, Marie Bailly, Erica Stoeckeler, and Katie Sheehan; three nephews, Robert Bailly, Michael Ryman and Joseph Stoeckeler; close friends, Dawn Jablonski, Greg Paige and Steve Guidice.
He was predeceased by his parents, Margaret (Bevilaqua) Cleary and Richard J. Cleary, Sr., as well as his nephew, Eric Paulo.

Francis R. Connelly (1925 – 2016)
ALBANY—Francis Robert Connelly, 91, of Malden Bridge died April 5 at St. Peter’s Hospice.
Born April 1, 1925, he was the only child of the late Francis A. and Margaret (Regan) Connelly of Schenectady.
After graduating from Linton High School in 1943, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a signalman during World War II. He later graduated from Dartmouth College, class of 1947, and embarked on a career as a civil engineer, retiring from New York State’s Office of General Services in 1991.
He cherished time with his family, mornings at the seashore and a good cup of coffee.
Mr. Connelly was married for 55 years to Alba Bruseghini, who died in 2006. He is survived by: his three loving children, Roberta Peppin, Lisa Connelly and Francis Connelly; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial will be held at a future date. Donations in memory of Mr. Connelly may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson 12534. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.
