Herbert A. Gaupman (1931 – 2019)
GHENT—Herbert A. Gaupman passed away February 5, 2019 at Whittier Nursing Home.
Born December 9, 1931 in Saratoga Springs, he was the son of the late Joseph and Esther Gaupman.
He is survived by: his wife of 60 years, Elizabeth “Betty”; children, Katherine (James) Littrell of Trooper, PA, Ellen Cohen of Norwich and Richard (Christine) Gaupman of Middletown; a sister, Rosemarie Robarge of Broussard, LA; three grandchildren, Christopher and Kirsten Littrell and Rachel Cohen; several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a sister, Maryann and brother, Frederick.
Mr. Gaupman served in the Korean War from 1952 to 1954 in the Army. He received his undergrad education from Oswego State University and graduate education from Buffalo State. He taught industrial arts at Chatham Central School until his retirement in 1990. He also was the boy scoutmaster for Chatham Troop 112 and a communicant of St. James Catholic Church.
After retirement Mr. Gaupman volunteered his time at the food pantry and delivering Meals-on-Wheels. He spent many hours working in his vegetable garden and helping his wife can and freeze the many vegetables picked from the garden. He was very proud when his son, Richard received the rank of Eagle Scout. His grandson, Christopher also received the rank of Eagle Scout.
Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, Saturday, February 9 from 9:30 till 11 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:30 a.m. at Saint James Church, Chatham.

Adrienne Citrin (1945 – 2019)
NEW YORK CITY—Adrienne Citrin of Ancramdale passed away February 6, 2019 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital. The cause was complications from leukemia.
Born January 9, 1945 in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Rose Dinkowitz.
She received a bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College. She later married Michael Citrin, October 28, 1968, then earned a master’s in education at New York University.
She worked initially in the New York City School System as a librarian, then as a teacher in grades 4, 5 and 6. When she and her husband moved to West Hurley, Mrs. Citrin began working as a special education teacher in the Onteora School District, where she served for more than 20 years. She retired in 2000. She and her husband moved to Ancramdale in February 2001.
During their 50-celebrated years of marriage, the Citrins travelled extensively. They explored the United States and Europe on a motorcycle, as well as on skis and by foot. For many years, they owned and rode horses. An avid sportsperson, Mrs. Citrin was active every day—at a yoga class or often walking her dog, Riley on the roads near her home.
Her contributions to her community were extensive. For the past nine years, she served as the president of Ancramdale Neighbors Helping Neighbors Association, Inc., which she led during its application for, and receipt of, 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status.
Neighbors offers weekly fresh, healthy food to a number of families in town (64 people); provides grants to town students for higher education expenses as well as grants to adults for coursework to improve their earning power; gives school supplies to town children in need as well as needed supplies to the town’s three area school systems; provides holiday baskets for area families, including gifts and clothing for children through the annual Adopt-A-Family program; and also jumps in with help, monetary or otherwise, when neighbors are in need for any variety of circumstances.
In addition to her ongoing work for Neighbors, she helped start and provided financial oversight for the Ancram Kids Summer Camp, where she also arranged for special summer outings and experiences, and even found time to read to campers.
She was a member of the Ancram Democratic Committee, and supported local and regional candidates through both donations and hard work, like door-to-door canvassing.
She also valued and contributed to diverse organizations such as Planned Parenthood, the American Civil Liberties Union, the Southern Poverty Law Center, as well as the local Roe Jan Library, where she added great value to their annual fund-raising by persuading area vendors and craftspeople to donate services or items of value for silent auction.
When the Roe Jan Library announced its annual fundraising Dine-Around list of restaurants, she sent emails with information about each date and place to make sure the restaurants were filled with patrons to benefit the library.
Mrs. Citrin and her beloved yellow Labrador Retriever, Riley participated in the Good Dog program, visiting the Astor Home in Rhinebeck for more than nine years.
In addition, she and her husband supported efforts such as the fundraising for glass doors at the Ancram Fire Company, and they attended just about every fundraiser for the fire company, plus fundraisers for many local events and organizations, like the Ancramdale Presbyterian Church’s annual St. Patrick’s celebration dinner with corned beef and cabbage.
She is survived by: her husband, Michael; her sister, Marilynn Weintraub and husband Leonard; niece, Heidi Weintraub Lindheim and husband Jerry; nephew, Brad Weintraub and wife Tracy Davis; great-nieces, Jordan and Alana Kopelson; great-nephew, Adam Weintraub; sister-in-law, Ruth Nelson and husband Ed; nephew, Eric Citrin and niece, Lisa Kalmanson and husband Andy; great-nephew, Zachary and great-niece Mia. Many children of her friends happily called her “Aunt Adrienne.”
She was unique, with energy and love and commitment and the organizational skills to get a lot done for the good of society. She was truly someone who left the earth a better place than she found it, and she will be missed and remembered by many. Her example will inspire those who loved her to follow in her footsteps and give back to their communities as she gave so much to hers.

Jeanette Mink (1933 – 2019)
HUDSON—Jeanette Mink, 85, of Kinderhook died Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born November 7, 1933 in West Ghent, she was the daughter of the late Royce E. and Mary (Akin) Coon.
She and her husband, Bob owned the Val-Kin Restaurant in Valatie for 29 1/2 years.
Mrs. Mink was a member of the Clearview Missionary and Alliance Church in Castleton. She was an avid gardener, enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and loved her Savior Jesus Christ.
She is survived by: five children, Elizabeth Grattan (Pat) of Valatie, Robert J. “Butch” Mink, Jr., of Kinderhook, Joanne Mink (Ben) of Sand Lake, William J. Mink (Glory) of West Ghent and Glenn D. Mink (Julie) of Watervliet; a sister, Doris Buckley (Tom) of Arkansas and four grandchildren, Jason R. Mink (Candy), Rachel J. Mink, Emily A. Grattan (Ben) and Daniel R. Mink.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert J. Mink, Sr.; her daughter, Jean Marie Mink; her sister, Helen M. Eckel and a granddaughter, Sierra Mink Spagnola.
Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 11 a.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie with the Reverend Nick Becker officiating. Burial will follow in West Ghent Cemetery. A calling hour will be from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service.

Harold F. Boughton, Jr. (1958 – 2019)
ALBANY—Harold F. Boughton, Jr., 60, of Chatham died suddenly Monday, February 4 at Albany Medical Center.
Born July 5, 1958 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Harold F. Boughton, Sr., and Evelyn (Pulver) Feiro.
He graduated from Chatham High School and worked there as a janitor for several years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mr. Boughton is survived by: his wife of 29 years, Ann (Corey) Boughton of Chatham; children, Sheila Boughton of Schenectady, Tabitha Boughton of East Durham, Eric Boughton of Schenectady, Daniel Boughton of Cairo, Brittany and Harold Boughton, both of Chatham.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Tiffany Boughton. Also surviving are: grandchildren, Crystal Wolfersteig of Cairo, Christopher Wolfersteig and Christian Grimes, both of Schenectady, Kyla Grimes of Hudson, Paul Lawson, Jr., and Angelus Lawson, both of Chatham, Destiny Boughton of Cairo and Katlyn Bost of Chatham; great-grandchildren, Aiden Boughton-Rose and Jayden Meddaugh; a sister, Elizabeth Hall of Lewiston, ME, and brother, Dwight Feiro, Jr., of Saratoga. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 11, 10 a.m. from the Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, Chatham. Interment will be in the Chatham Rural Cemetery. Janet J. Herrle (1936 – 2019)
ALBANY—Janet J. Herrle of Kinderhook passed away February 8, 2019 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born October 12, 1936 in Ghent, she was the daughter of John and Charlotte (Karcher) Holt.
She grew up and was educated in Chatham. She was involved in all sports and was an avid softball player. After graduation she met and married George Herrle, who predeceased her in 2015 after 57 years of marriage. She loved the Saratoga Racino, scratch-off lottery tickets and her best friend and sister in law, Alice Holt. She also enjoyed watching old-time movies and Blue Bloods and spending time with her family.
Mrs. Herrle is survived by: her son, Wayne Herrle; daughter, Donna Powell; grandchildren, Kelli (Daniel) Cavagnaro, Heather (Zachary) Issler, Morgan Herrle, Wayne Herrle, Jr.; great-grandchildren, Madison and Landon Cavagnaro; brother, Russell Holt; several nieces and nephews and her lap partner, Rasco.
She was predeceased by: brothers, Walter Rath, Franklin Holt and John Holt, Jr.; sisters, June Strobel and Dolores Gephard.

Alyce M. Larkin (1949 – 2019)
POUGHKEEPSIE—Alyce M. (Remsburger) Larkin, 69, of Gallatin passed away Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Vassar Brother’s Hospital.
She was born November 1, 1949 in Rhinebeck, the daughter of Thomas and Alice E. (Wheeler) Remsburger, Jr.
Mrs. Larkin was a teacher’s aide in the Pine Plains Central School District in Pine Plains.
She was a charter member of the Pine Plains Ladies Auxiliary, she enjoyed doing family genealogy, antiquing and loved cats.
On May 26, 1979 in Red Hook, she married Daniel J. Larkin, Sr. He survives her at home.
In addition to her loving husband, survivors include: her daughter, Kristina Larkin of Rhinecliff; a sister, Marguerite Ann Hill of Pine Plains; a brother, Thomas “T.R.” Remsburger, III; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a son, Daniel J. Larkin, Jr., August 20, 2004.
Calling hours are Monday, February 11, 2019 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, February 12, 2019, 10 a.m. from St. Anthony’s Church in Pine Plains, with the Reverend Kent Wilson officiating.
Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.
