Priscilla B. Frisbee (1918 – 2015)
STUYVESANT FALLS—Priscilla B. Frisbee, 97, of Stuyvesant Falls died Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at her home.
Born March 6, 1918 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Arthur B. and Daisy (Weeks) Buchholz.
Mrs. Frisbee graduated from Cornell University and worked as a 4-H agent in Chenango County before she was married. For more than 40 years she was a 4-H club leader. She was the government historian for the Town of Stuyvesant for 20 years and was active in her hamlet and organized and ran a library for 10 years. She was a member of the Women’s Club which helped the local school before centralization. She was active in the PTA and was a member of the Kinderhook Reformed Church, the Garden Club of Kinderhook, Columbia County Historical Society, a Friend of Historic Cherry Hill in Albany, Cornell Cooperative Extension and a Friend of Lindenwald.
She leaves: her children, Margaret Van Allen Sommer of Watkinsville, GA, Peter Edward (Virginia Lasmanis) Frisbee of Chicago, IL, Ann Stefka of Johnstown and Cornelia Helen Frisbee Houde (Frank) of Albany; a sister, Ann Alden of Slingerlands; a brother, Arthur Buchholz of Pennsylvania; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Frisbee; sisters, Jane Carter and Marion Jung and a brother, Lewis Buchholz.
A memorial service will be held Wednesday, July 29, 11 a.m. at the Kinderhook Reformed Church with the Reverend Rudy Visser officiating.
Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Donations may be made to Historic Cherry Hill Museum, 523 ½ South Pearl Street, Albany 12202 started by Edward and Priscilla Frisbee, a home owned by a single family for five generations. Gerda von Jeetze (1927 – 2015)
CHATHAM—Gerda von Jeetze, 87, of Chatham passed away peacefully at home on the morning of Friday, July 17 with her family at her side.
Born October 7, 1927, in Rostock, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Paul and Martha (Schemel) Babendererde.
Mrs. von Jeetze dedicated her life to founding and establishing the work of Camphill Village communities for persons with disabilities in the United States. She was also an amazing mother for her six daughters.
She was predeceased by her sister, Ortrud Burchardt of Germany.
Mrs. von Jeetze is survived by: her husband, Hartmut von Jeetze; her daughters, Johanna Steinrueck of Minneapolis, Renate Varriale of Kinderhook, Barbara Paulsen of Aarhus, Denmark, Bridget von Jeetze of Chatham, Thea Garvie of Ghent and Frances Kane of Minneapolis; 16 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service took place Monday, July 20 at Camphill Village, Copake. Arrangements were with the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
R. Russell Bates (1945 – 2015)
ALBANY—R. Russell Bates, 69, of Kinderhook died Sunday, July 19, 2015 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
He was born November 16, 1945 in Albany, the son of the late Ralph and Ruth (Ahles) Bates.
Mr. Bates was a graduate of Bethlehem Central High School and Syracuse University and was a U.S. Army veteran who served a tour of duty for a year in Seoul, South Korea. He was a supervisor in the plumbing department of RPI in Troy, an avid golfer and New York Giants fan.
He is survived by: his wife, Mary Lee (Iandoli) Bates; a son, Kevin Bates (Colleen) of Valatie; twin brothers, Richard Bates (Barbara) of Hilton Head, SC, and Robert Bates (Elizabeth) of Baldwinsville; two brothers-in-law, Wayne Bennett and his wife Patricia of Clifton Park and John Walsh and his wife Helen Lee (Mary’s twin sister) of Skillman, NJ; his father-in-law, Dr. Edward Iandoli of Englewood, FL; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his mother-in-law, Sweetie Iandoli.
A graveside service will be held Friday, August 14, 12:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon National Cemetery, 200 Duell Road, Schuylerville, with the Reverend Stark Jones officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 3049, Syracuse 13220-3049 or a charity of one’s choice.
