Deborah M. Fernandez (1954 – 2014)

ALBANY—Deborah M. Fernandez, 60, of Greenport passed away Sunday, December 28, 2014 at Albany Medical Center.

Born October 7, 1954 in Hudson, she was the beloved daughter of Margaret Briggs of Hudson and the late Sherwood Briggs.

Ms. Fernandez was a homemaker and devoted to her family. She loved spending special time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by: her son, Frederick Sackett, Sr., of Hudson; seven grandchildren, Samantha, Austin, Kenny, Fred, Jr., Shania and Matthew Sackett and Jasslyn Sackett Gilmore, and two great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by: her father, Sherwood Briggs; her son, Anthony J. Sackett; her brother, Brian Briggs and her sister, Linda Briggs.

Calling hours are 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, January 2 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.

Services will follow at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arthur H. Drumm (1935 – 2014)

HUDSON—Arthur H. Drumm, 79, of Philmont passed away Monday, December 29, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born January 10, 1935 in Sharon, Connecticut, he was the son of the late Arthur I. and Winifred Hotaling Drumm.

He was also predeceased by his step-mother, Antoinette Drumm, and his step-father, Maurice Pierson.

Mr. Drumm was a machine tender at Fort Orange Paper Mill in Castleton for several years. He enjoyed NASCAR, jigsaw puzzles, playing horseshoes and bird watching.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Doris Chadwick Drumm; his sister, JoAnn; three brothers, Richard, Leonard and Maurice.

Surviving are: two daughters, Lee Ann Drumm of Philmont and Sandra Sanchez of Arizona; a son, Raymond Chadwick of Philmont; his sisters, Alice Kibbe and Toni Consolini; a sister-in-law, Shirley Drumm; several grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and his dog, Hannah.

Services are at the convenience of the family.

Nora Doherty Cowherd (1920 – 2014)

N. EGREMONT, MA—Nora Doherty Cowherd, 94, died at her home Tuesday, December 30, 2014 surrounded by her family.

Born in County Roscommon, Ireland, October 25, 1920, she was the daughter of Michael Doherty and Mary Morrisroe Doherty.

A beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she is survived by: her three children, William Kevin Cowherd and his wife, Nancy of Cockeysvile, MD; Maura Rose and her husband, Dr. William Rose of North Egremont, MA, and Stephen Cowherd and his wife, Anne of Westport, CT; her eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She immigrated to the United States at the age of 17 and practiced as a nurse before marrying the late William Bailey Cowherd of Brooklyn in 1947. Thereafter, she lived in Brooklyn, Havana, Cuba, São Paulo, Brazil and Puerto Rico before settling in Orange County, (Monroe and Middletown) and spending her later years with her daughter and her family in North Egremont.

An energetic, fun-loving and caring person, she stayed active to her very last days, had a great Irish wit and will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, Copake, with calling hours scheduled for Friday, January 2, 2015 from 3 to 7 p.m. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 3, 2015 at the Parish of Our Lady of Hope, 8074 State Route 22, Copake Falls. A reception will immediately follow in the Parish Hall.
