James M. Dreher, Jr. (1946 – 2018)

COLUMBIAVILLE—James Marquis “Mark” Dreher, Jr., 71, passed away April 10, 2018 at home surrounded by family and friends.

He was born in Hudson to James Marquis Dreher and Betty Gardner Dreher.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1967 to 1970 as a radarman second class aboard the U.S.S. Fiske DD842.

Together with their families, he and his wife ran the Risedorph Distributing Company in Kinderhook.

Mr. Dreher married Holly Neer. Sweethearts since age 14, they were married 51 years.

In addition to his wife, Holly, Mr. Dreher is survived by: their son, Mark Christopher Dreher (Diana); daughter, Allyson Gardner Cubillo Dreher (Percy); four grandchildren, Courtney, Lindsey, Meredith and Dayton; brothers, Scott and Adam Dreher. He was predeceased by a brother, Kevin Dreher.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations in Mr. Dreher’s name may be made to Community Hospice of Columbia Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

Betty J. Ebel (1929 – 2018)

HUDSON—Betty J. Ebel, 89, of Niverville died Friday, April 13, 2018 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born January 16, 1929 in Lowville, she was the daughter of the late George and Maime (Furlow) Snyder.

Ms. Ebel was a homemaker and a devoted mother who was very proud of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by: nine children, Kathleen Balfoort of Niverville, Barbara Moore of Schodack, Tracy Ebel, Charles Ebel, Jr., Joseph Ebel, Roberta Presher, Monica Ebel, William Ebel, III, and Brenda Ebel, all of Niverville; 21 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 17, 11 a.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, with the Reverend Barbara Morgan officiating. Burial will follow in Nassau-Schodack Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, April 16 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
