Natalie A. Conway (1937 – 2020)

HUDSON—Natalie Anne “Nancy” (Crouse) Conway, age 82, of Hudson passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family September 13, 2020.

After graduating from St. Mary’s Academy in 1955, she completed programs at St. Catherine’s Infant Home and Colonna Beauty School in Albany. She worked in cosmetology for many years and applied skills learned at St. Catherine’s to her own family, becoming the best wife and mother anyone could wish for.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Natalie Crouse. She is survived by her high school sweetheart and devoted husband of 61 years, James “Jim” D. Conway; daughter, Kathleen Vasquez (Marc) of Frederick, MD; son, James M. Conway (Kena) of Copake; two granddaughters, Meagan and Maura Conway; sister, Carol (George) Kitchie, brothers, Joseph (Laura) Crouse and Robert (Ellen) Crouse; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Following moves to Chicago, IL, and Lynbrook, the Conways returned to Columbia County in the 1960s to raise their family. She was an active parishioner of St. Mary’s Church and school in Hudson, both of which always held a special place in her heart. She loved the sound of “young voices” and laughter in the house. Into adulthood, her children’s friends exchanged good-natured banter with Mrs. Conway.

She enjoyed needle-crafts and formed a small tight-knit group who met regularly for laughs and tea, while creating treasured items for family and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Conway shared a love of music and belonged to the Philmont Community Chorus.

Mrs. Conway and her family were deeply touched by the support of family and friends near and far. Words cannot express their gratitude for the affection and kindness of her dear friend, Patricia E. Corbett, over the years.

A private Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Mary’s Church/Holy Trinity Parish, Hudson. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Greenport Rescue Squad or St. Mary’s Church/Holy Trinity Parish, P.O. Box 323, Hudson 12534. Arrangements are with the Sacco Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. To leave online condolences visit www.saccofuneralhome.com
