Rufia Chowdhury (1963 – 2020)

HUDSON—Rufia Chowdhury, 57, of Hudson died peacefully at home Monday, August 3, 2020 in the company of her family. Born in Sunamganj, Bangladesh, she was the daughter of Irfan Chowdhury and Hanifa Khanom.

Services were held Monday, August 3 at the Sacco Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Burial followed in Cedar Park Cemetery. To leave online condolences visit www.saccofuneralhome.com

Sheila A. Finger (1944 – 2020)

MOUNT KISCO—Sheila Ann (Brusie) Finger, 75 of Lincolndale passed away Tuesday, August 4, 2020 at Northern Westchester Hospital.

She was born November 28, 1944 in Hillsdale, a daughter of the late John and Minnie (Brusie) Pedell.

A homemaker, she also served as a substitute teacher for the BOCES program in Yorktown Heights.

She was an avid singer and enjoyed playing the piano. An animal lover she enjoyed many pursuits including clogging, bowling and tending to her gardens.

She was predeceased by her husband, Louis Finger, Jr.

Survivors include: her children, Louis A. Finger, III, of Lincolndale, Laurie L. Finger of Lincolndale and Gregory J. Finger of Stormville; seven grandchildren and a brother, Richard Brusie of Copake Falls.

Along with her husband, Louis, she was also predeceased by her siblings, Barbara, Howard and Gerald.

A graveside services will be held Saturday, August 8, 2020, 11 a.m. in the new section of the Hillsdale Rural Cemetery.

Irvin Nawrocki (1937 – 2020)

ALBANY—Irvin Nawrocki, 83, of Germantown passed away Monday, August 3, 2020 in Albany.

Born May 21, 1937 in Hudson, he was the son of Joseph and Alexandra (Alice) Jackabowski Nawrocki.

Mr. Nawrocki was employed with state Department of Transportation and retired after 28 years of dedicated service. He along with his father were skilled mechanics and small engine repair experts known throughout Germantown. He enjoyed hunting and fishing, antique cars and an occasional casino trip, where he always appeared to leave a winner. He will always be remembered by his trademark cowboy hat. He served honorably in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1959. His greatest love was his family. He cherished his grand- and great-grandchildren, and his bond with his daughter, Jennifer was unbreakable.

He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and David Comesanas; grandchildren, Kristina, David, and Nicolas Comesanas; great-grandchildren, Leah and Avery; his sisters, Janice Clow, Dorothy Brown and Venecia Rubino, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Gloria Nawrocki; brother, Joseph Nawrocki, and sister, Mary Grand.

Funeral services from the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson are Thursday August 6, at 12:30 p.m. Interment will be in Linlithgo Cemetery. Visit www.batesanderson.com to leave condolences.

Stephen Durham (1941 – 2020)

PHILMONT—Stephen “Sonny” Durham, 78, of Hudson passed after a long illness August 3, 2020 at Pine Haven Nursing Home.

He was born to the late Jesse and Aretta Durham, November 17, 1941 at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson.

Mr. Durham worked for the New York State Office of Children and Family Services until his retirement.

When he wasn’t busy tending his garden or his home bottle recycling center, he could be found engaged in a game of Pinochle, laughing or a great debate. He really loved to debate. “He was quite the character. Everyone who knew him, loved him.”

Mr. Dunham is survived by: his daughter, Nicola Durham of Waterford; his sons, Alex Durham of Hudson and Stephen Durham (Angela) of California; his niece, Leomi Bell of Hudson; his brothers, Matthew Bell of Utica and Manuel Fernandez of Cohoes; many nieces, nephews and friends.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Ruth; son, Stephen Jr.; his brothers, Joseph Durham, William Bell, and James Thomas and his sisters, Jessie Travis, Frances Durham, and Caretha Bell.

A graveside service will be held at a later date.
