Marion C. Chidester (1928 – 2018)
GREENPORT—Marion C. Chidester, 89, of Greenport passed away peacefully Saturday, March 3, 2018 at her residence.
She was born September 6, 1928 in Hudson, the daughter of the late Clyde E. Denegar, Sr., and Marion (Diehl) Denegar of Germantown.
She was a graduate of the Albany Business School and a member of Christ Lutheran Church of Viewmont. Mrs. Chidester was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed cooking, sewing, country music and her lifetime friends.
Survivors include: her sons, Douglas Chidester of Hudson and Daniel Chidester of Claverack; brother, Clyde E. Denegar, Jr., of Davidson, NC; grandchildren, Kailey Chidester, 20, of Washington, DC, Lauren Chidester, 25, and Daniel Chidester Jr., 23, both of Kingston.
She was predeceased by her sister, Kathleen Zazulak of Germantown, who died September 5, 2010, and her husband, Theodore “Ted” Chidester of Hudson, who died June 21, 1987.
Mrs. Chidester met her husband, a local bandleader, while employed at McCall’s Refrigeration in Hudson. They were married March 7, 1952. They enjoyed their free time boating on the Hudson River, visiting with their many friends and raising their two sons.
Mrs. Chidester worked for many years in the Columbia County Treasurer’s Office and was extremely fond of cats. She always had at least one feline companion until recently.
Calling hours will be held Friday, March 9, 5 to 8 p.m. at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown.
Services will be conducted Saturday, March 10, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with interment in the Reformed Church Cemetery.

A. Rudolph Leggieri (1930 – 2018)
CLAVERACK—Antonio Rudolph “Rudy” Leggieri died peacefully at home March 3, 2018 at the age of 87.
He is survived by: his beloved wife of 57 years, Gertrude “Trudy” Whitbeck Leggieri; son, John (Rebecca); grandchildren, Olivia and Gabriel; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Susan; parents, Antonio and Adelgesia Leggieri, and his five siblings, Margaret, Celeste, Katherine, Gerald and Maria.
Born August 9, 1930, he grew up in Hudson and graduated from Hudson High School in 1948. As a young man, he played the drums in several local dance bands which performed across the region. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1950 and for the next four years served on six carriers: U.S.S. Midway, U.S.S. Coral Sea, U.S.S. Tarawa, U.S.S. Wasp, U.S.S. Hornet and the U.S.S. Layte.
Mr. Leggieri spent the majority of his time in the Navy in the Mediterranean, in the vicinity of his parents’ birthplace of Pescara, Italy. After returning home from the Navy, he applied and was accepted to the University of Vermont to study forestry. But what was intended to be a summer job turned into a lifetime of dedication to the New York State Police. He served the citizens of New York as a trooper with Troop G and then rose through the ranks to retire after 32 years as a senior investigator in charge of the Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in Claverack. His love of helping people, investigative work, and the camaraderie of his fellow troopers made work a calling. After retiring from the NYSP, he was a private investigator, where he was able to continue to contribute his investigative skills to right wrongs. Eventually, he retired fully to spend his days with the love of his life, Trudy, and being a family man, visiting his grandchildren even if it meant driving through a blizzard across the country to see them. He also enjoyed gardening and hunting excursions with his son. Above all else, he loved his family and home. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends. The viewing will be held at the Bates and Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Greene Street, Hudson, Thursday, March 8, 2018 from 10 a.m. to noon with services to follow.

Foard H. Tarbert (1923 – 2018)
AUSTERLITZ—In the early morning hours March 1, 2018 “our beloved” Foard Holden Tarbert peacefully passed.
He was born May 17, 1923 in Baltimore, MD, to Guy Emerson Tarbert and Miriam Carroll Tarbert.
Mr. Tarbert is survived by his wife, Jan Schierloh Tarbert. They happily resided together in Sint Maarten, Anguilla and Austerlitz.
Mr. Tarbert was a top salesman, loved the sea for fishing, sailing and swimming and in recent years expanded his time and skills in the garden. As a World War II veteran, Mr. Tarbert proudly served his country in five different arenas, including the invasion of North Africa.
He is also survived by: his two sons, Foard Holden Tarbert, Jr., (Cheryl) and Bruce Emerson Tarbert (Chirilyn); four grandchildren, Bradford Emerson Tarbert (Megan), Laurel Anne Martin, Nicolle Anne Tarbert and Blair Elizabeth Willis (Chris), and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Patricia Anne Tarbert; a brother, Carroll Emerson Tarbert.
At 94, Mr. Tarbert enjoyed life to the fullest and will be remembered by those whose path his life crossed including his step-children, Laurie Schierloh and Robert Schierloh, Mr. Schierloh’s children James, Elizabeth and Daniel, Mr. Schierloh’s grandson, along with his wife Debbie, all of whom were an integral part of his life.
As a friend, Mr. Tarbert excelled both in quality and quantity, and will be truly missed.
At his request, no formal funeral will be held.

Marion E. Westfall (1920 -2018)
GALLATIN—Marion E. Westfall, 97, passed away peacefully Thursday, March 1, 2018 at home.
She was born April 5, 1920 in Pine Plains, the daughter of Ellsworth and Nina (Turbarg) Clum.
Mrs. Westfall, along with her husband, Benjamin owned and operated two farms in the townships of Ancram and Copake.
She loved her flower and vegetable gardens. Family and friends were very important to her; and she enjoyed challenging them to a game of pool, cards or a good old-fashioned game of dominos.
Mrs. Westfall was known for her no bake cookies, her nut candy and nut whirl and the strongest coffee in town.
On April 5, 1941 in Pine Plains, she married Benjamin Westfall. He predeceased her, November 22, 1991.
Survivors include: her three sons, Sherwood (Veda), Wayne and Martin (Patricia); several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
“Fluff,” as she was affectionately nicknamed, was a mother figure to many.
She was predeceased by: two sons, Douglas and Raymond Westfall; a daughter, Cynthia E. Westfall; two brothers, Alden and William Clum and a sister, Nina Eighmie.
There are no calling hours or funeral service.
Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
