Virginia Brusso

Virginia M. Brusso (1934 – 2023)

KINDERHOOK—Virginia May Brusso, 88, went to sleep and woke up in the arms of Jesus, Tuesday, April 4, 2023.

Born May 11, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Peter J. Sapko, Sr., and Helen M Pauza. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by: her brothers, Peter, Jr., and Harry Sapko, and her husband, Edward Brusso.

After graduating from Hudson High School she went on to work many years at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. April 6, 1952, she married Edward W. Brusso and together they had four children: Edward Brusso, June (Vincent) Legg, Gregory Brusso and Terri (Tony) Jones. They shared 52 wonderful years of marriage until Mr. Brusso’s passing in June 2004. Aside from being an amazing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was an incredibly talented artist who loved to paint lighthouses, landscapes, sunrises and sunsets that she witnessed on the countless family vacations to the ocean. She deeply loved to listen to and spread the word of God and praying. She greatly enjoyed sharing a cup of coffee and a conversation with a loved one, camping, gardening, crocheting, cooking, baking and traveling, but the moments she treasured the most, were those she spent with family.

In addition to her children, Mrs. Brusso is survived by: her brother, Larry (Connie) Sapko of Texas; her sister, Marjorie Nelson of Utah; five grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends are welcome to attend calling hours Monday, April 10 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 11, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. John’s Cemetery, Stockport.

Shirley Mullady (1937 – 2023)

PHILMONT—Shirley Mullady, 85, of Philmont passed away Saturday, April 1, 2023.

Born October 10, 1937 in Lancaster, PA, she was the daughter of Charles and Loretta Myers.

She is survived by her daughters, Deborah Shea and Eleanor (John) Decker; son, Howard Mullady; her brother, Carl Myers; sister, Rose Lutz; many grand- and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her spouse, George H. Mullady and son-in-law, Lester Shea. Arrangements are with Bates and Anderson, Hudson.

Albert Blanks, Jr.

Albert Blanks, Jr. (1947 – 2023)

HUDSON—Albert Blanks, Jr., 75, of Hudson passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family, Monday, April 3, 2023. He was born to Elma and Albert Blanks, Sr., May 5, 1947 in Nanafalia, Alabama.

He worked for the Track and Structures Department for Metro North Railroad for 30 years. He served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged 1971.

Mr. Blanks was a faithful member of Rock Solid Church, and a volunteer driver for Zion Community Food Pantry. A sports enthusiast, he was and longtime fan of Denver Broncos football, New York Yankee baseball and University of Alabama Crimson Tide football. He enjoyed cooking, spending time with family, especially his grandchildren and “grandpups.”

He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife of 57 years, Brenda Blanks; his children, Daryl (Adrianne) Blanks, Sonja (Andrew) Perry, and Di’Shenaya Smith; grandchildren, Mykel, Tiana and Darian Blanks, Samara Perry, Daija Jones and Jordan Albert Smith; brother, Ronald (Cynthia) Blanks; sister, Margaret (Will) Singleton; brothers-in-law, Roscoe (Helen) Johnson, and Timothy (Pamela) Johnson; sisters-in-law, Beverly (Earl) Martin, Emogene Johnson, Linda Foxx, Sylvia Laffiette and Pamela Napier.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter, Nazaria Stewart.

A memorial service was held Saturday, April 8 at Rock Solid Church, 334 Union Street, Hudson. Arrangements were with Bates and Anderson, Hudson.
